As a teenager I got obsessed with Lovecraft, looked up a lot of stuff, came across the original and this. This was part of the soundtrack to a lot of my walks. Now, as a fully grown man child with real problems and access to alcohol I’m on a nostalgia binge and don’t have a clue how I forgot this. Just a belated assertion of love for this.
-Necropost time- If you open this in one tab and the original in another, and start this version about a third of a second earlier, the two sync perfectly. The discord between the two guitars is horrendous and the voices in combination are terrifying. It's glorious.
@@VetusDea revive this again. you can take this version and either lower it four semitones or up one and it harmonizes pretty well. the vocals are sometimes are discordant in emphasis but it actually kinda sounds like a newb to the cult listening to the hymn and going mad from it at the end. it's rather great XD Edit: of course you can also take the original and bring it down a semitone or up 4 for the same effect.

Your voice is incredible. I used this cover as mood music for a Call of Cthulhu game I was running and my players were absolutely spellbound. Keep it up!
I didnt expect the lyrics to be so good..what an awesome parody! The singer puts a lightness to the song that makes it kinda creepy which fits perfectly.hehe
On a day where I'm stressed and feeling hopeless, I listen to this song, and suddenly my problems seem to drift away. They're still there, but the madness of eminent destruction is just relaxing.

@DarthTearees, there actually is. In the Call of Cthulhu, Lovecraft writes that people heard the cultists chanting a name/word. They didn't know what it was or what it meant originally, but PHONETICALLY what they heard was "Cthulhu." This means it's pronounced exactly as it is written.

Wow to all the lessons I learned from my life being in front of people but at the Same time far away from me I was there but not there you weren't allowed to see me
Never has the voice of madness called so sweetly...
The voices in your head obviously aren't the same as in mine.
Surely not
You can found the Sweet Voice Sigil in the fidth floors of R'lyeh or in the houses of Ulthar.

Sarah Fht'agn it easy in Cthulhuville, that's us.

I can relate to a bit of what you described there myself
Thank you for listening :) You guys make me excited to keep recording!
Now we need a duet with her and the original.
Ryan Shaw I would cough up twenty bucks towards this purpose.

Hey there Cthulhu, down there in your sunken city
You’re a billion light years distant and the stars look very pretty
From R’lyeh
So close and yet so far away

Cthulhu Fhtagn, or is that k-THOO-loo fuh-TINE?
I can never quite remember, ’cause I’m not in my right mind
Since I met you
No one corrupts the way you do
You know it’s true
Oh, it’s what you’ll do to me
Oh, and all humanity
Oh, you’ll rise up from the sea
Oh, kill everyone slowly
Except the ones like me
Hey there Cthulhu, I’ve been studying your gospel
The Necronomicon, it gives me nightmares something awful
Where I see
The death of all reality
It fills me with glee
So when the stars are right, you’ll come and do your worst
But that’s okay because I know you’ll eat the cultists like me first
When you get here
I know that day is drawing near
I have no fear
Oh, it’s what you’ll do to me
Oh, and all humanity
Oh, you’ll right up from the sea
Oh, kill everyone slowly
A billion light years seems so far
Below the sea, beyond the stars
Of these humans’ putrid souls you’ll drink your fill
The fools will all make fun of me
But I’ll just laugh maniacally
’Cause no one’s ever suffered like they will
Cthulhu, I can promise you
That by the time this cult gets through
The world will never ever be the same
Praise your dark name!

Much obliged!
This video inspired an entire D&D campaign in my head. Wouldnt have worked out without your voice.
No way! That's absolutely awesome! I hope everyone involved has a blast
@@OneFlewtheCoup Yup! it was great, a huge twist on the whole "evil cultist summoning a dark god" campaign.
Hey Delilah is an awesome cover of this prehistoric hymn to honour an ancient.
Thomas Norman except "Hey there Delilah" would be a parody and not a cover in the case of this joke.
@@aaronorr5586 what joke this is 100% accurate they have passed it down for unknowable generations
You betcha. I'm a firm believer that talent should be rewarded. You have a wonderful voice. :)
This could be trailer music to a Cuthulu horror movie. Amazingly Haunting

Hehe, I think technically it's a cover of a parody because I didn't write new words. I am glad that you enjoyed it!
Your lovely, feminine voice makes it all the more eldritch.

This is honestly perfect. The vocals, the voice, the lyrics, personally I consider it better than the original. Keep on with the good work!
Thanks!!!

One of the few people who say Cthulhu correctly instead of saying Cathulhu.
There´s not only a right way to say Cthulhu.
I think you need an unholy guttural sack that humans don't have to pronounce it right.
Could be worse. We could be calling him... I dunno, 'Thulio?
yoji0 Well, maybe the way the cultists chant. But at the very least, we know how Lovecraft intended humans to pronounce it.
*****
That is true. But in The Call of Cthulhu, Lovecraft wrote that when the people who heard the chanting tried to write it phonetically, they wrote "Cthulhu." As a result, "Cthulhu," said exactly as it is written, is the closest we can get to the correct pronunciation.

Nice! The original was fun and funny, but your vocals give up an eerie tone the original lacked. Good work!
This be the superior version
this seems a bit more twisted then the original just because its a woman rather then a guy for some reason and shes singing so happily
Lord Orion madness can be quite excellent.
I think its mostly because she seems to have a lot of *exitement* for him, like she wants the tentacles
Really great .. thank you
