Mystic type is far too common; not even halfway in the video and there are already three grass mystic types I think. And with them being all supereffective against each other, battles are a nightmare.
Other than the fact that some of the designs are a bit over detailed and hard to animate, I absolutely love the art and designs. Maybe a simpler version of this could actually be canon one day.
Since Pandizzy is based upon The Drunken Fist, then I'd give it a new ability called "fighting spirit". It would give Pandizzy a 20% increase to both fighting-type & ghost-type, physical moves, that make contact. It could also lower the damage Pandizzy receives from fighting-type, physical moves, that make contact, by 20%.
Aggrohorn easily could have been Grass/Ground due to it's importance to the land and maybe a balance of physical attacker and special attacker, Bustallion could have been Fire/Dragon since it looks like a Kirin or Qilin, and Naguara could have been Water/Fairy. Great designs though!
i feel like the starters would be better as grass fairy, fire dark, and water dragon, as they are all very similar to the mystic type and they all make sense with the starters' lore and appearences
When you add a new type, the goal should be to add it to all the other types, mixing the tropes of the original type with mystic. I agree that giving all the starters one type makes it redundant to use one of the other new mystic types. There doesn’t need to be more unused type combos, so making a mystic type hybrid with the other 18 is necessary, but then also invalidated by the starters. Also I agree that the psychic type already does the sort of sage/god thing that the mystic type tries to do.
I definitely would recommend checking out anartistastray's other region, the Straya region, which is based on Australia.😊 As for the Pangu Region, my team is: -Naguara (Water/Mystic) -Muffluff (Bug/Fairy) - Thundrog (Electric Dark) - Fuzzipan (Grass/Normal) - Corporoll (Fighting/Ground) -Guarkraco (Dragon/Mystic) I also would love to have a Hawkight or an Inkarnine on my team!
I think Skiink is based on a "Basilisk Lizard". A lizard that can kinda run for a short time on the water. Quick little fun fact ^^, also mystic is an overpowered typing specially when paired with the dark or ghost type
I was just drawing my own new fan reign while watching this and I was draw a snake with an explosion on its tail a then 10 seconds later I saw squiboom
Fuecoco has potential to represent either the serpent or the bull. People think too 1-1 in terms of animal representation, but pokemon tend to be based on multiple things, and the only thing that matters about them in that representation is any of their stages.
Also Fuecoco could still represent the snake… even if it’s a crocodile, crocodiles and snakes are both reptiles so could still be in the same idea as snake following the zodiac
I for one find the reclassification of Pokemon moves and abilities necessary il go so far as to say with the goal of leaving normal as generic as possible to have it represent everything generic that could not be reclassified as something else. Up to and including making a ??? Type for things that would be taken by the SCP foundation who’s purpose is similar to the above normal type but for things that are not normal.
Man.....I created my grass starter line that's similar. Kaleaf (Calf+Leaf) Minarden (Minotaur+Garden) and Taurest (Taurus+Forest) which ends up a sage of the forest too but with Grass/Psychic.
My team (Don't know why I have so many "waifus", but I like their designs. It's 2022 okay. Also, I think the Chinese Paddlefish was declared extinct back in 2019, or if it's not extinct, it's critically endangered.) Naguara (Water/Mystic) Archare (Fairy/Psychic) Candella (Fire/Psychic) Torstele (Ghost/Rock) Muskeraid (Dark) Chirush (Ice/Electric)
I’m wondering if eventually we’ll get Pokémon regions for every country in the world. I feel like larger countries like the US and Russia would be split up into a few different regions though. Like for example, for the US, maybe there would be a region for New England.

Listen Chinese pronunciations are Hard(tm) and you tried very hard and did your very best! I knew what you were going for so the effort is all that matters. - Agrahorn, Bustallion, and Naguara may be a reference to how elements are related to each other in the classic Chinese 5 Elements: each one can be destructive to each other but never truly being superior, yet together synthesizing into new creation and coexisting in harmony - Bustallion's lore and colours may be a nod to Red Hare, the loyal and beloved mount of legendary warrior Lu Bu, who himself is worshipped as a minor war deity and in the stories was known to be belligerent and hotheaded - Azulong may be a reference to Qing Long, one of the 4 Beast Lords; its name literally translates to "azure dragon" - the sash on Naguara, Selenare, and Lucignal is commonly used to denote divinity, and often worn by celestial beings, particularly maidens (including Chang-E!). They are usually translated as "celestial" or "feathered" robes (hence the feathery/coatl-y look of Naguara) and in some stories like the Maiden and the Cowherd can be stolen and hidden away to prevent their return to the heavenly realms, similar to a selkie's sealskin. Your critique on seeing them as a design pattern on too many different species in a single region makes logistical sense, but the sashes are pretty common a motif on Chinese art so it.... kinda tracks? - in Chinese traditional medicines, one of the many ways to maintain health in the body is to eat things that are shaped like (or are) the body part(s) you wish to maintain; i.e., there's an ear-shaped fungus said to help with hearing, an algae aptly named "hair grass" supposedly helps hair grow strong and beautiful, and duck and chicken hearts and kidneys are said to help your heart and kidneys stay healthy. Ginseng, because it is often depicted in the form of a person, is believed to therefore help bolster and invigorate the whole body, hence why it is used in energy drinks - the artist is correct in the colour choices: yin is black (literally translating to "shade" or "dim") and represents feminine energy (among other things), yang is white (literally translating to "bright") and represents masculine energy - Xiangci's shrine dancer inspirations, particularly the multiple arms and the fact that one of the hands are over a big heart shape on its chest, may be a nod to the goddess of mercy Guanyin, who was said to be gifted a thousand eyes and a thousand hands after her deification to be able to eternally find all who suffer and them grant compassion and aid - Caulding in particular may be a reference to some dings that have taotie, a ravenous fiendish monster, as their motifs. Since the taotie is a mythical beast in Chinese folklore, that could also explain its Mystic typing - Ruffous' reds and golds may be a nod to how bats are present on more traditional red pockets, which are red and often have gold lettering and trim to them. The little golden bits coming off the sides of its head look like how bat wings would be drawn on those red pockets, and the shape of its eyes may be meant to invoke the image of gold coins, nodding to the fact that red pockets contained money - Pangurian Shelmet and Accelgor are based on Zhuge Liang in case anyone is wondering who the strategist was! Zhuge Liang is typically depicted with his hair pulled into a curly decorative box hairpin (the design of which is seen creating the design of Accelgor's head and somewhat reminiscent on the top half of Shelmet's shell), his moustache kept thing and long (as seen on Accelgor), and carried a feather fan (making up Accelgor's neck ruff) - squibs are small explosives, used in anything from pyrotechnic special effects to military use - Dribblet may be a reference to swiftlets, of which several species use their hardened spit to build nests (and then are harvested by humans as a delicacy) - Hanuman, Sun Wukong, and Son Goku are different regional names for the same Monkey King - Reliquine may be a reference to Bai Long Ma, 3rd son of the Dragon King of the West Sea, who takes the form of Tang Sanzang's mount throughout the Journey to the West - Bullgrim may be a reference to Sha Wujing (Sandy), one of the 3 disciples to Tang Sanzang in Journey to the West; he is typically depicted with a necklace of large prayer beads and is described at times as a "water buffalo" for being a bit slow on the uptake. The "grim" in the name may be the idea that between him, Wukong, and Pigsy, Sha Wujing is usually the "straight man" of the comedy and thus is more "grim" than the other two pranksters/troublemakers - I do like the reference to the rake (Pigsy's weapon of choice) as the tusks on Swinobite - Peril forms may be a reference to the fact that the four accompanying Tang Sanzang on his journey are in fact doing it as a form of forced penance, and are thus not completely "good" characters and have a bad habit of giving in to their vices (some more than others, I'm looking at you, Pigsy and Wukong)

14:30 this dog breed is called a shih-tzu, they come from nepal and have one myself! greatest option available if you dont have a large garden.
I love these region reviews! They give me such inspiration to make my own fakemon. Brandon’s commentary is great too!
Ive seen Grass Ground
Fire Dragon
And Water Fairy
When you add a new type, the goal should be to add it to all the other types, mixing the tropes of the original type with mystic. I agree that giving all the starters one type makes it redundant to use one of the other new mystic types. There doesn’t need to be more unused type combos, so making a mystic type hybrid with the other 18 is necessary, but then also invalidated by the starters. Also I agree that the psychic type already does the sort of sage/god thing that the mystic type tries to do.
I definitely would recommend checking out anartistastray's other region, the Straya region, which is based on Australia.😊
As for the Pangu Region, my team is:
-Naguara (Water/Mystic)
-Muffluff (Bug/Fairy)
- Thundrog (Electric Dark)
- Fuzzipan (Grass/Normal)
- Corporoll (Fighting/Ground)
-Guarkraco (Dragon/Mystic)
I also would love to have a Hawkight or an Inkarnine on my team!

I think Skiink is based on a "Basilisk Lizard". A lizard that can kinda run for a short time on the water. Quick little fun fact ^^, also mystic is an overpowered typing specially when paired with the dark or ghost type
4:45 Gruffalo
Dynasty: “It dislikes Rattata, as they try to nibble its leaves.”
And the Stakataka being the W A L L
That cracked me up
This mystic typing might be pointless if other pokemon have it
I was just drawing my own new fan reign while watching this and I was draw a snake with an explosion on its tail a then 10 seconds later I saw squiboom
Keratin is a basis for keralin’s name, (39:29) it makes up nails, hair, etc.
Finally, Arcanine's Fire Red entry makes sense.

Fuecoco has potential to represent either the serpent or the bull. People think too 1-1 in terms of animal representation, but pokemon tend to be based on multiple things, and the only thing that matters about them in that representation is any of their stages.
I really love these designs though
Also Fuecoco could still represent the snake… even if it’s a crocodile, crocodiles and snakes are both reptiles so could still be in the same idea as snake following the zodiac
@@tomwarden7733 that’s just copium 😭
I appreciate the adding of types rather than changing the types of pokemon when a new pokemon is added.
Every time i see that fanmade region's got dunsparce evolution: 11/10 REGION
Man.....I created my grass starter line that's similar. Kaleaf (Calf+Leaf) Minarden (Minotaur+Garden) and Taurest (Taurus+Forest) which ends up a sage of the forest too but with Grass/Psychic.
My team (Don't know why I have so many "waifus", but I like their designs. It's 2022 okay. Also, I think the Chinese Paddlefish was declared extinct back in 2019, or if it's not extinct, it's critically endangered.)
Naguara (Water/Mystic)
Archare (Fairy/Psychic)
Candella (Fire/Psychic)
Torstele (Ghost/Rock)
Muskeraid (Dark)
Chirush (Ice/Electric)
They are extinct. We lost a good one. ;-;
Noo
aren't the terracotta soldier made out of clay? this is obvously more ground than rock tbh
I’m wondering if eventually we’ll get Pokémon regions for every country in the world. I feel like larger countries like the US and Russia would be split up into a few different regions though. Like for example, for the US, maybe there would be a region for New England.
13:35 china had a lot of assassins so what would have been cool was if the crane had one of its legs concealed in its wings.

32:44 43 Wheelit - Ground/Fire - Dry/Kindled forms spider furnace
45:49 61 Harmonell - Psychic/Fairy/Ghost - Chimecho winning direction evo inspiration
The Candle Lady is an excellent line as well, I wonder though, if keeping the Fire/Flying would have been better, maybe not
Why the 52:57 The Shriken is dark type? I would assume Poison/Flying bird, which is in itself, a sturdy enough basis for a pokemon that it could hold. where did the dark type come from?
There is a possibility that Leon's Master from the Isle of Armor came from the China region of Pokemon and 4 Ruins of a Threasure could be connected to the Pokemon China region.
1:04:40 The definition of squib in this context: a small firework that burns with a hissing sound before exploding.
EDIT: 26:08 You got them mixed up. Black (Yin) is the feminine one while white (yang) is the masculine one.
i think they could have done a really interesting Falinks evolution based on the terracotta soldiers (steel/fighting, rock/fighting or steel/rock, mayhaps?)
Fun fact, halloo is a playable scrabble word. Pokemon doesn't however seem to be related to its definition.
Definitely think that adding the new type to a lot of the Pokémon was just too much

i LOVE the idea of the mystic type. i just don’t like how it makes ice type EVEN more weaker. its a great idea and concept, but the typing making ice weaker is just something i don’t like. as well as how common the mystic type is, (as you can see with all of my mystic pokemon) i feel like battles would be really hectic.
names are amazing, the legends are great, designs are amazing, i love it!!
i hope theres a china region soon :D
The third stage of those starters all look like legendaries lol
Listen Chinese pronunciations are Hard(tm) and you tried very hard and did your very best! I knew what you were going for so the effort is all that matters.
- Agrahorn, Bustallion, and Naguara may be a reference to how elements are related to each other in the classic Chinese 5 Elements: each one can be destructive to each other but never truly being superior, yet together synthesizing into new creation and coexisting in harmony
- Bustallion's lore and colours may be a nod to Red Hare, the loyal and beloved mount of legendary warrior Lu Bu, who himself is worshipped as a minor war deity and in the stories was known to be belligerent and hotheaded
- Azulong may be a reference to Qing Long, one of the 4 Beast Lords; its name literally translates to "azure dragon"
- the sash on Naguara, Selenare, and Lucignal is commonly used to denote divinity, and often worn by celestial beings, particularly maidens (including Chang-E!).
Ginseng, because it is often depicted in the form of a person, is believed to therefore help bolster and invigorate the whole body, hence why it is used in energy drinks
- the artist is correct in the colour choices: yin is black (literally translating to "shade" or "dim") and represents feminine energy (among other things), yang is white (literally translating to "bright") and represents masculine energy
- Xiangci's shrine dancer inspirations, particularly the multiple arms and the fact that one of the hands are over a big heart shape on its chest, may be a nod to the goddess of mercy Guanyin, who was said to be gifted a thousand eyes and a thousand hands after her deification to be able to eternally find all who suffer and them grant compassion and aid
- Caulding in particular may be a reference to some dings that have taotie, a ravenous fiendish monster, as their motifs. Since the taotie is a mythical beast in Chinese folklore, that could also explain its Mystic typing
- Ruffous' reds and golds may be a nod to how bats are present on more traditional red pockets, which are red and often have gold lettering and trim to them. The little golden bits coming off the sides of its head look like how bat wings would be drawn on those red pockets, and the shape of its eyes may be meant to invoke the image of gold coins, nodding to the fact that red pockets contained money
- Pangurian Shelmet and Accelgor are based on Zhuge Liang in case anyone is wondering who the strategist was! Zhuge Liang is typically depicted with his hair pulled into a curly decorative box hairpin (the design of which is seen creating the design of Accelgor's head and somewhat reminiscent on the top half of Shelmet's shell), his moustache kept thing and long (as seen on Accelgor), and carried a feather fan (making up Accelgor's neck ruff)
- squibs are small explosives, used in anything from pyrotechnic special effects to military use
- Dribblet may be a reference to swiftlets, of which several species use their hardened spit to build nests (and then are harvested by humans as a delicacy)
- Hanuman, Sun Wukong, and Son Goku are different regional names for the same Monkey King
- Reliquine may be a reference to Bai Long Ma, 3rd son of the Dragon King of the West Sea, who takes the form of Tang Sanzang's mount throughout the Journey to the West
- Bullgrim may be a reference to Sha Wujing (Sandy), one of the 3 disciples to Tang Sanzang in Journey to the West; he is typically depicted with a necklace of large prayer beads and is described at times as a "water buffalo" for being a bit slow on the uptake. The "grim" in the name may be the idea that between him, Wukong, and Pigsy, Sha Wujing is usually the "straight man" of the comedy and thus is more "grim" than the other two pranksters/troublemakers
- I do like the reference to the rake (Pigsy's weapon of choice) as the tusks on Swinobite
- Peril forms may be a reference to the fact that the four accompanying Tang Sanzang on his journey are in fact doing it as a form of forced penance, and are thus not completely "good" characters and have a bad habit of giving in to their vices (some more than others, I'm looking at you, Pigsy and Wukong)

Wasn't psychic already the stand-in magic/mystic type before gen 6 (and fairy type afterwards?) Mystic feels unnecessary.
