As a former dairy herdsman I find it refreshing hear such an elequent arguement on behalf of the farming community but don't blame the boomers, we have enough to contend with. As you say this has been going on for many years and has accelerated since WW2.

Ag is an increase "business". You need 2 kernels of corn to perform pollination and you get around 800 per ear. A nanny goat can drop 2 kidds per litter twice a year, and on it goes. The only way to lose money is to get into the commodity markets. In the U.S. its one of the last "occupations of common practice" which means you don't need no degree and there ain't no goddamn license like doctorin' or plumbing. There ain't no "official" professional organizations to sell you up and down the river. Ag is older than history. Ag is a birthright that is beyond any price. It has been gradually and steadily undermined and wormed at, poked at and weaseled at in the modern age. When you hear "Ag business" you are hearing someone who has been lied to, or you are hearing someone who is a lying snake. A low down, dirty rotten, sidewinding, saw-toothed buck nosed varmint!.. sorry. I get.. upset. I get mean. I get in touch with a dark, sadistic side of myself that quite frankly, I'm not sure I am comfortable with. Anyway. It is a hill that I could comfortably die on with honor and dignity. My ancestors would understand and welcome me home in whatever afterlife there is because it is the story of my kind for every single generation except the last two. I know a fair amount and I run a few hens, keep a few ducks, but I'm not a farmer by common occupation. Once its gone, you are really cut off and behind enemy lines. Thanks for the video and godspeed to you all.

Can they just create a company or trust and move all assets to the trust/company entity and make all family memebers trustees or company directors? Then when they pass assets are not passed on but held in the trust or companies portfolio or have i missed something.
This is what I am arguing against. The idea that People who have fed our People for hundreds of years should have to sign their Land over is preposterous and I cannot endorse that type of bureaucracy. Any agreement with the Regime is to be seen as akin to brown nosing them.
@ShireStrike I agree farmer's shouldn't pay this tax and be VAT exepempt and get better subsidies from the government food security should be one of our top priorities as a nation. With that said the government has been targeting farmers for some time now. If this continues farmers need to employ some accountants to advise them on tax lowering mechanisms, I'm sure most of the MPs use them.
You have it wrong too! Tractor's do not cost "£300,000" each, that is pure bullshit (pun intended). A mid sized Fendt 724 Gen 7 Vario which is the "Rolls Royce" of tractors will cost you about £275k. Most farmers in the UK are mixed or livestock farmers not arable only.
This is a rank whataboutism (complaining about the difference of 25k which I accounted for by saying "1.8 to 2.1 million) and I added a contingency for "if they have livestock" which in EVERY scenario makes it a higher IHT bill. At no point does "most are grain stuffs farmers" mean "they OnLy DO grAin". Please listen more carefully next time because your comment was accounted for in my Video.
Just pay your tax like the rest of us have to and stop whining on snowflakes 😂 you got a far FAR better deal than everyone else. Your argument should be about why it is you aren't seeing the benefit of the profits made on food not about paying tax on anything above £3M! Jog on

@@ShireStrike Was born into farming in 1960 had to quit 20 years ago. So I have seen the slow takeover of agriculture by the big agri companies especially the milk, pig and poultry sectors until there were no longer any truly independent milk, pig and poultry producers. They had virtually become managers but had to cope with all the risks. I tried warning milk producers back in the 80s not to get into bed with such as Tesco. Because once the supermarkets had control of all the milk supplies they would just screw the producers but they wouldn't listen. All they could see was the extra they would get for the next couple of years. I also tried to get the pig and poultry producers to stick together and stop the mass takeover. However, it wasn't to be. I eventually left when as one of the last truly independent pig and poultry producers there was no longer anywhere apart from the big integrators that could buy the quantities that I was producing. Now they want to get their grubby mitts on the rest of you. At long last people are starting to wake up to the fact that the rent seekers are wanting ownership of every damn thing. From the land that grows our food to even the shirts on our backs.

It's the monarchy. Politicians are their puppets.
Maybe that'll stop them being so stupid
When I hear or see the term (Farm Manager)
I know that the farm has been taken over by Agribusiness.
Yeah they're usually subsidiaries of American Companies.
