I actually found the mele weapons to be extremely helpful. They dealt heavy damage, helped save ammo and were really effective at stunning enemies. For me, this game felt like a throwback to classic survival horror titles and I enjoyed it immensely.
The combat is way too fluid to feel classically survival horror. There needs to be a weighted sense of clunk to everything. RE2 remake understood that and executed it perfectly.
Even with all the mixed reviews, I still wanna play this game because I don't want the devs to give up on this IP. I want them to take the feedback from this game and improve themselves with their effort.
It’s not a bad game. It’s decent and it has potential. I don’t want them to give up on the franchise either but it definitely needs some polishing on the gameplay
9.0 / 10.0 in my review. As a old school gamer ,when this franchise started in 1992,i must say how this remake on that short pixeled game, this is masterpiece remake with style of Alone in the Dark : The New Nightmare ,totally the same vibe just in modern graphics with a story of first classic.
I'm lost right now after finding everything even the 3 puzzle pieces for the door i can't find my way back to the dining room in chapter 2 i feel like it's glitched and not sure i even want to finish it now lol
that's unfortunate. Tbh I played On PlayStation so I didn't experience as many issues as you did, but if the game was basically unplayable then that's a damn shame because it wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a great game either. Regardless, looks like the studio won't be making a sequel now.
I don't think it sucks tbh. I think it has a lot of issues and room from improvement, but overall it's a decent Survival Horror experience. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to people new to the genre though that's for sure.
Maybe the argument could be made that it’s more like double a (just under triple a), but with THQ Nordic being the publishers and I’m sure they spent a shit ton to acquire breakout stars David Harbour & Jodie Comer. I think it’s ridiculous to think alone in the dark isn’t a triple a game (budget wise at least) with the amount of money they probably spent on the game & how big of a company THQ Nordic is.
Pretty spot on. I will say since the puzzles and thought process is what I love most about the survivor horror (which is there plenty in this game) the combat is just not there to make it complete. Still think it’s worth playing it’s enjoyable
Yeah it’s easily above average for a survival horror game at the very least. Honestly, anybody into the genre itself will like it and I hope it gets a lot of support because I want the franchise to build up from here. Improve the combat & enemy variety/design and you have a relatively great game on your hands!
It took my 6 hours on my first play through, but I agree still too start. That’s not to say older RE games weren’t that short, but they had better gameplay and more replayability
I dont get this review, the negstive things you said i think are wrong, and the good things you said i think are the bad things. Your favourite was the puzzles? The puzzles were beyond easy and lacked much thought But i thought the combat ect wasnt clunky, it worked just fine, melee was just fine aswell, worked well i thought

I might buy it if it’s cheap just to have something new to play. Maybe when I finish the RE revelation games for the first time I’ll buy this.

I’m down with the clunk. Gameplay is a lot more than practical controls so I’ll probably enjoy it despite that, too.
It’s basically unplayable on pc for me the stutters and frame drops are insane

Solid review
If it wasn't for all the glitches I would say no

Told ya!
Yes, yes it does.
So right off the bat, this isn't a AAA game with a huge budget and comparing it to such games (Resident Evil, Dead Space, etc.) isn't entirely fair.

Not to mention the game charges the same amount as Alan Wake 2 so at the very least it deserves to be compared to that game.
$34.99 and I’ll buy. Until then…
@@keithc5080How’d you manage that?!

Never compare this mess to Silent Hill.
To f shorl 5 hours to do 5 chapters

Alone in the Dark desperately trying to survive in the battle against Dead Space, Silent Hill and Resident Evil: *chuckles* I am wasted
The worst game of 2024.
eh I think that's a massive exaggeration but to each their own lol
Gamers are drama queens, game reviewers are even worst.....
