It genuinely makes me so happy to see you get so excited about falling in love with Discworld! I definitely need to check out some more Pratchett soon, I just get so distracted by all the shiny new releases that I always ignore the backlist lol. Also very cool to see you burning through AoT, I've been curious about that manga for a while now. My faves of August were Asunder by Kerstin Hall (new favourite book of the year), Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle and Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors. Such a diverse month!
Discworld and Pratchett are my comfort reads. I absolutely adore every one of them. Pratchett's gift for characterization and keeping biting satire entertaining are unparalleled.
Hi Tori, looks like you had a great reading month! My August was pretty slow compared to previous months. Still working through The Faithful and the Fallen, the Harry Potter illustrated editions, and Tad Williams’ Shadowmarch series. One standalone that I did really love was North Woods by Daniel Mason…I love books with houses as the main character and this was definitely that! Have a great week!
Hi Tori, glad you had some good reading in August. Terry Pratchett was an awesome author. Good to see you are enjoying Discworld so much. August was a slow month for my reading and I not entirely sure why. (I might have spent too much time playing Valheim) I only read 4 books in August and one of those was a short story The Forgotten Beats Of Eld - Patricia A McKillip (excellent book) Piranesi - Susanna Clarke (awesome read, which made me buy Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell to read also) Priest Of Bones - Peter McLean (not the worst book I've read this year, but reasonably pants) The Willows - Algernon Blackwood (short story, but a very good read, excellent prose) Book of the month was Piranesi, really loved it.
BookTube has been starved for more Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn content so I think this is the start of a fantastic trend!! 😂😂 Great to hear your recap Tori!!
Okay-I gotta dive into pratchetts audiobooks! I feel like there’s this mysticism of where to start with him-but I’ll likely just follow along the way you rocked it. I also got into attack on titans and have taken a bit of a break into season 3 (I’m doing the anime)-for no other reason than reading has taken the priority. It’s really enjoyable though. The timelines do get so confusing still
They recently remade all the series with a core actor for each subseries, and they're so good. Can't recommend starting with Guards! Guards! more, it's excellent. I'm enjoying AoT but also noticing some confusion as well.
Awesome stuff, Tori! I think you'll be happy with my recent reading! I finished the Heroic Age trilogy, and you were right that every book just got better, which was a high bar given how good it started! And alternating between those books, I've had the Gentlemen Bastards... Which has quickly vaulted into my absolute all time favs!
Yes, “Guards, Guards”! 🙌 In August I finished Part 1 & 2 of “To Green Angel Tower” by Tad Williams (Epic Fantasy, final «novel(s)» in the “Memory, Sorrow & Thorn” “Trilogy”, book of the month and in my top 3 so far this year!), Michael Moorcock’s “The Warlord of the Air” (Multiverse Time Travel Alternative History Steampunk? 😅), and “The Thousandfold Thought” (Epic Dark/Grimdark Fantasy, the final novel in the «Prince of Nothing» Trilogy) by R. Scott Bakker. Cheers!
Glad to hear you are starting to enjoy audiobooks. May I suggest the audiobooks whenever you decide to re-read The Riverfall Chronicles. The narrator, Wayne Farrell, really brings the characters in these stories to life. I just listened to The Blue Flames again and I think I loved it more the second time through. Audiobooks are great for re-reads in my opinion since I can get something done at the same time and I already know the story.
Awesome video Tori, I just purchased my first manga ever this past weekend and I had to get Spy Family because of how good you say it is. I can’t wait to start reading it soon.
Book of the Month: Mercy of Gods. BUT, Andrew turned me on to Titan Hoppers and the 3rd book in that series was read this month and I loved it too. I started reading Blame! this month. I have a lot of Japanese entertainment in my life but not in manga form. I DNF Biomega. I have both Ghost in the Shell omnibi, though for some reason the 2nd was a big old panty fetish. I have been reading One Piece this year, and now Blame! Blame! is a feast of visuals through a solar system sized megastructure.
I read 11 books in August Favorites The mystery guest by nita prose Everyone on this train is a suspect by Benjamin Stevenson Summer on sag harbor by sunny hostin My least favorite sex lies and sensibility by nikki Payne
Discworld is my favorite series behind A Song of Ice and Fire. I love when people discover how amazing Terry's writing is!
YES. It's so good!

I completely agree! I think Pratchett is going to be a comfort read author for me many times going forward.
You make me very excited to star my JCM Berne reads

You've got a big stack going on right now! I love the idea of the house being the main character, that's awesome. :D

Vampires, werewolves and Bill Nighy? Yes, please!
Right? Triple threat!
@@ToriTalks2 “Viktor” narrating a book that has vampires and werewolves is the closest I’ll get to an Underworld book.
Yay for Sir Terry!
What a reading month 🥳 love your giddiness 🤣
That Islas reach cover is gorgeous! And dark??? Need to take a look!👀
Definitely check it out! It’s a stunning cover.
I love finding new favorites! Best feeling ever! 😍

Great month of reading! So glad you're enjoying Memory Sorrow and Thorn!
I ❤ audiobooks especially the first law trilogy on audible so freaking good!

I've heard amazing things about Wayne's narration, and I definitely want to try them someday. :D
Thanks for the shoutout, Tori! Later books don't deal with Earth much (really at all).
You’re welcome, Joe! I’m looking forward to book 3!
Awesome video Tori, I just purchased my first manga ever this past weekend and I had to get Spy Family because of how good you say it is. I can’t wait to start reading it soon.
Yay! I hope you enjoy it! I have had an absolute blast with it so far.
Yep, it's back to Wistful in book 3! It's really good, and yes, better than Return. But Return is important to overall story. RAFO :)
That’s my expectation! I’m looking forward to it. 😍

Oh man, I'm SO psyched to try Titan Hoppers! I'm glad you're having a great time with it. I can't wait to dig into more manga series as well.
I really need to continue on with Discworld. I was going strong at the beginning of the year, but then i fell off and i wanna get back to it
I hope you do! It’s so good.
