Super song !!! descovered 2 days ago in a fabulous Lisbonne live... in first part of.. a fucking living legend ! I listen to this song in my car .. from Lisbonne to Avignon. it's that kind of song that you don't necessarily like right away but... which then enters you and never leaves you....
Lyrics : I always wanted it to be like this for us Strung out on love Alive in the city Pulling triggers like the fashion was a loaded gun My head in the crosshairs Brain of the chosen one Ten pages of her favourite book alright Leave on the light And I'm feeling the evening With her blue-eyed soul I'm her shield but I I can't quite make it out I can't quite make it out 'Cause I'm getting it tight tight tight I'm getting it tight tight tight I'm getting it tight from life And I can't control it Ten steps to your favourite bar tonight Bags on site Flirting with me like Well you're You're full of flavour and you're winning best dressed tonight But where are your friends now? Where are your friends now? Well, they're all flying High high high They're all flying High high high They're all out there flying high Where are you tonight? Well, you better get it Right right right right You better get it Right right right You better get it right One chance at this life I always wanted it to be like this for us Having our first kid Name her Ethel I always wanted it to be like this for us Having our first kid Name her Ethel And I hold on to her tight tight tight And I hold on to her tight tight tight I hold on to her tight Baby Ethel And I hold on to her tight tight tight I hold on to her tight tight tight I hold on to her tight Baby Ethel
Months later, I've no idea what this song is about: genuinely accepting and embracing the idea of settling down with family? Or a scathing critique of it (as the video implies)? I don't know - probably both, depending how you interpret it. One thing is true: musically this is haunting and top class!
I'd love to know what this song is about. I've been pretty obsessed with it since I discovered it and I'm not great at deciphering lyrics as it is but, before checking the video I thought it was about the struggle of being the head of the family and protecting them while dealing with that silently so that they feel secure when you're actually falling apart. Now it seems like what you've suggested in that he's actually settled down and maybe regrets that decision? I can't really tell but I can't stop listening to it either way.
My interpration is the latter, that it is a scathing critique of the idea that having a child would "fix" anything in a relationship or in a life. Without the video I would have thought that it meant the former, but the video really implies the latter. The band showing up while the maid is dancing is interesting; it shows that no matter what they're all missing out on something. So are we missing out on the idyllic family life or are we missing out on pursuing true happiness whether that is settling down or deciding not to have kids? Very very interesting song.
Love that chord progression…. Moody with a dark undercurrent.
This song is absolutely savage. Somewhere between The Cure, Joy Division, The Smiths and yet totally unique and distinctive.
So hyped for the new album. So far all 3 releases have been absolute bangers
Crunch crunch
Every tune from Gigi's Recovery Is better than the other! Please please please come to Italy ❤️🇮🇹
Love you guys everytime x

Lyrics :
I always wanted it to be like this for us
Strung out on love
Alive in the city
Pulling triggers like the fashion was a loaded gun
My head in the crosshairs
Brain of the chosen one
Ten pages of her favourite book alright
Leave on the light
And I'm feeling the evening
With her blue-eyed soul
I'm her shield but I
I can't quite make it out
I can't quite make it out
'Cause I'm getting it tight tight tight
I'm getting it tight tight tight
I'm getting it tight from life
And I can't control it
Ten steps to your favourite bar tonight
Bags on site
Flirting with me like
Well you're
You're full of flavour and you're winning best dressed tonight
But where are your friends now?
Where are your friends now?
Well, they're all flying
High high high
They're all flying
High high high
They're all out there flying high
Where are you tonight?
Well, you better get it
Right right right right
You better get it
Right right right
You better get it right
One chance at this life
I always wanted it to be like this for us
Having our first kid
Name her Ethel
I always wanted it to be like this for us
Having our first kid
Name her Ethel
And I hold on to her tight tight tight
And I hold on to her tight tight tight
I hold on to her tight
Baby Ethel
And I hold on to her tight tight tight
I hold on to her tight tight tight
I hold on to her tight
Baby Ethel

This album is going to be outrageously good. Three songs so far that sound like no one else at all. That said, I really hate this video.
