Cool bike bro I have one too that I'm trying to bring back to life. I have to go thru the wiring to see if things are still good if not I'll just sell it for parts.

Thanks, it was a fun project. I just sold it and I think it's going to end up a cafe bike. I can focus on the Saab 9000 now. The electrical is pretty basic on the XJ models so I would only part it out if the bottom end is shot. You can still find good harnesses around if that one has been cut up. xjbikes.com is a great resource. My rebuild project is on there. Have fun with yours, hopefully you can resurrect it!

even tho the youtube is old.....having to be in neutral to start a Yamaha street bike is an
electrical issue......as long as sidestand is up......there should be a switch on clutch lever so when lever is pulled it allows you to crank and start without having to return to neutral....

Yeah I got most of the wiring sorted, not all of it.

That would make me want to get an EFI kit, and a welding kit for the O2 sensor bung.

It is not simple to put an injection kit on a 4 carb setup with YICS. Carbs are finicky but they also don't need an ECU. I need to fix a leaky intake boot on #3 and retune each cyl with the colortune plug before I resync the set. It purred just fine before I put the filter and that was just from sound, exhaust touch and smell.

You will have to replace the tank cap and ignition switch with a set.
