Just finished watching all 3 Clemson games closely. Absolutely excellent Oline, good QB and quality folks across offense, but only adequate defense. Georgia bigger, stronger team, so Clemson problems everywhere. Clemson is nowhere near showing like a top-4 team, at least yet. NC state (and App state) made so many basic assignment mistakes throughout..NC state in first 12min, so clear scores was more about how badly these teams played rather than Clemson being overpowering. But…..Clemson was competent and made them pay most times, but again nothing really exceptional (except maybe the Oline) but just solid football vs. mediocre error prone teams. When challenged, Clemson (esp. QB) more erratic and the weakness come out. As per Stanford, they can’t make the usual mistakes and need to keep penalties to near zero. If they do, they’ll be in game till end, if not things may get out of control and fast. Clemson overall squad bigger, but starters about same size/ power. As per Clemson speed, would say Stanford has played faster teams (Oregon) and know how to win, aka long grinding drives that keep clemson O off field (basically same as Oregon approach). Stanford can run on Clemson (wasn’t impressed by Clemson front 7), but need to be clear on assignments and effective on position blocks. When Clemson has the ball, Stanford just have to keep the receivers in front of them (again, they’ve seen faster/better reciever corps), and my guess is Bobby April will have the front 7 constantly moving to neutralize the Clemsons Oline assignments as much as possible, so clemson likely will have more trouble running than last two games. Klubnik may still get some big plays, but Stanford will come at him hard (but on occasion) so he’s not comfortable. Everyone says all the talent on Clemson side…IMHO the gap is less clear than the pundits say and mostly Clemson older w/more experience (and of course, some hype) but not necessarily better athletes. I give Stanford a very good chance of staying in game till late 3rd, and if they remove the penalties it may be a shocker. Of course, Daniel’s needs to be sharp and consistent. He can hurt Clemson, but tends to hit the second half adjustment dulldrums and looses confidence, so how he plays (and better/faster reads) will determine this game. Probability of win on Clemson side, but and upset is not out of the question. Think it’s less about Clemson (they will execute!) and more about Stanford mistakes (or lack of). Interesting test for Stanford….but not USC followed by Oregon followed by Washington type hard….but a win will be difficult nonetheless-the-less.

Also Cade Klubnik is a dual threat QB. He ran 21 MPH against NC State and was the #1 dual threat QB coming out of high school I believe.

Clemson lost to a backup freshman QB at Miami last year. Apparently Clemson is doing what Georgia has done in the past where the backup QB gives the defense trouble. It's hard to game plan against a QB when you don't really have tape on them.
