Need to be careful fully trusting reviewer's that have just enjoyed an all expenses paid trip (courtesy of VW) to the south of France. They won't get invited to the next junket if they step too far out of line.
If they ever bring the ID.7 wagon to the states, it'll be my first EV. I went from an Alltrack SEL to a Kia Stinger GT2 and then back to another Alltrack (SE this time) over the last 6 years. I could live with the liftback form factor, for sure. I loved my Stinger more than any object I've ever owned, but I do prefer the wagon form factor. A wagon version of this seems like it'd be closer to the old Passat wagon in size rather than the Alltrack, which would be even better.
@@andreaspencer9813I agree that plopping a tablet in the middle of the dash is too easy. Same with the ID Buzz that I so much wanted to fall in love with. I know this isn’t a Cadillac, but the Lyriq with its long embedded touchscreen display is the new standard in my opinion.
The average price of a new car in the US is about $35,000 now. A new Tesla Model 3 sells for about $39,000 currently. Once you apply the federal credit, it’s about $31,500. Most states have credits also, $2500 where I live in Virginia. That lowers the price to $29,000. Not really priced out of reach.
Quick story. And I’ll preface this with the fact that my Wife absolutely loves her 2.5 L gas Volkswagen Jetta. That being said… Last year she asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said a performance exhaust system for my ‘87 Carrera. Exhaust system… full stop. What did I get??? An f’n ‘hand painted’ picture frame with photo with us during our dating years (1991/2?). Thanks fine … I guess. Because what I got her was … a staggered tipped stainless steel performance exhaust system with a free flow muffler (typically found on Golf Rs) for a rich in-line exhaust note, especially above 4,000 rpm. She absolutely hates it… so she says. Reminds me daily in fact. But… I think of it as the gift that keeps on giving. My point? I really like this new Volkswagen. But I feel EVs are far too quiet for me. But obviously … I have an almost dalliance relationship between the me (the driver) and the mechanical sounds of an internal combustion engine… even on an in-line 2.5 L five cylinder power plant (half of an exotic V-10 right?). Good for VW! I hope it is a hit to keep sedans alive. I'm with Mem Shannon - SUV: "I'm sick of these SOBs driving these SUVs. They're trying to run over me when I'm in my beat-up car."

Based on prices in France a comparable ID4 (Pro Performance : 1 engine, large battery) starts at 53650 Euros and the ID7 base price is 62650 Euros. So its 9,000 more Euros !!! Very pretty interior. But, will it be more of very expensive sitting on the dealer lots? I wish VW would go back to the "people's car" and make small, medium sized hybrids to move the people.

@@michaels3003 Lift- or hatch- back, whatever. It is not a sedan. In my opinion, liftback is a subclass of hatchback. Liftbacks and fastbacks are just stupid marketing terms designed to disguise hatchbacks and station wagons respectively. Whether the hatch is highly sloped or not is a minor detail. The way this hatch opens compared to a sedan trunk is a major difference. Hatchbacks (including liftbacks) are far more practical than sedans, and reviewers are making a disservice to this product by calling it a sedan.
I was excited to see a new nice looking sedan, then we get to the interior and that fucking Tesla like screen on the dashboard is such a huge letdown - I would love to take a sledgehammer to it.
Electric cars are just toys for rich people. Useless for road trips. Horrible for the environment. ICE cars are here to stay. Eventually the car manufacturers will realize this. The government needs to stay out of it and let the market decide what we drive. I shouldn’t be paying for someone else’s car.
I think there will be some bumps along the way for EVs, governments can’t keep handing out rebates, road taxes for EVs will be needed to pay their share and the public charging systems need to be sorted out. A friend has a non-Tesla EV and charging is hit and miss, down right annoying. Another friend sold his EV after a year and went back ICE. I’ll stick with a hybrid for now.
This is not a war: ICE vs. EV. Get over it and do something more productive. I agree that the tax credits / rebates should be phased out. I have a feeling that you previously declared "for here to stay:" carburetors, no emission controls, V8 engines, rearwheel drive, mechanical controls.
Can the car talk to you with a Mario voice, how about a minion like kevin, hello Kevin? Can you install a blu ray player for that LCD panel? It just looks too heavy, it's a flying brick with adaptive damping suspension. The whole vehicle should be run by Ai and if it gets stolen the vehicle can think for itself.
Too late? There are 1.2 Billion ICEs to be replaced...no one is too late. Furthermore we See each 3 years a new line up from any vendor...too late? No, just New cars
Due to regen rear disc are rarely used and die from Rust...believe me it is good for you as Customer and saves a lot of money...braking is not harmed by this at all

Alexander, google: liftback definition, or: hatchback vs. liftback.
In Europe theuyrefer to them as lift backs or sport backs
This will be a colossal failure in Canada, regardless of how it is packaged or what it costs.
... and the earth is a disk, you can divide the water and you don't know shit. And just by the way. Nobody gives a shit about the Canadian market
More overpriced cars people won't buy. The OEMs are all trying to get into the luxury game you can't all win in that space
I was excited to see a new nice looking sedan, then we get to the interior and that fucking Tesla like screen on the dashboard is such a huge letdown - I would love to take a sledgehammer to it.
u ar wrong
Vw is wasting his time.
with you in any case. yawn
Electric cars are just toys for rich people. Useless for road trips. Horrible for the environment. ICE cars are here to stay. Eventually the car manufacturers will realize this. The government needs to stay out of it and let the market decide what we drive. I shouldn’t be paying for someone else’s car.
When has the government ever stayed out of anything? We don’t actually live in a free society any longer.
Well that's certainly an opinion...
This is not a war: ICE vs. EV. Get over it and do something more productive. I agree that the tax credits / rebates should be phased out. I have a feeling that you previously declared "for here to stay:" carburetors, no emission controls, V8 engines, rearwheel drive, mechanical controls.
As you type from you IPhone which is more responsible for polluting and using precious metals then EVs have used.....
As an EV6 owner this looks like that. Even the same battery capacity
Wow too late too little vw big disappointment
Too late? There are 1.2 Billion ICEs to be replaced...no one is too late. Furthermore we See each 3 years a new line up from any vendor...too late? No, just New cars
Who can buy this car? :DDD Garbage. Total defeat for VW group.
Now tell us how its garbage. Otherwise, just a hate comment.
why does it have a pimple in the front bumper?
It will be different to separate it from Audi products in North America.
Is it Front Disk, and rear drums? I don't get it, my 2015 Jetta has four wheel disc.
Due to regen rear disc are rarely used and die from Rust...believe me it is good for you as Customer and saves a lot of money...braking is not harmed by this at all
Think harder then. You have a different car...
The estate will be called Toura, not Touring like BMW, (probably because of the patented name).
