Also next-gen (current) updates for games that are not so old like the Assassins Creed Syndicate one that just came out, just making the game 4k and 60fps. It made the game way better to play and the graphics have a significant boost. I believe it's not so hard and expensive for the companies, it's a win win situation
I personally would prefer remakes of these PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. That would entail a lot more content you can put in these new iterations of the old games.
Legacy of Kain remastered is absolutely amazing! I preordered it a month ago without any hesitation. It’s honestly brought back so many memories… I can’t get enough of the atmosphere, and love that’s gone into making it! It’s probably my GOTY for 2024 (mainly because it was so unexpected, and is still one game that was so ahead of its time 25 years ago)
Guys PLEASE support the remasters!!! This is our best chance at seeing the series revived in the current gen for hopefully either new installments or a damn good remake of some kind. And I’d really love to see that happen! I know I’m not the only one who sees the potential this franchise has for today’s standards of excellent storytelling and gameplay
I actually didn’t realize how much I miss the old over watch. I used to be obsessed with that game around 2016-2018. My boyfriend and I used to hook up both our PS in our living room and played together. OW2 was a dumb decision.
marvel rivals has been so fun so far for us. we queue up with at least 4 friends and it makes it so much more enjoyable. no waiting in the lobby, just gaming all the time. the only time you're kinda waiting is when you're actually in game waiting for the doors to open!
I’m usually not interested in hero shooters, but Marvel Rivals caught my eye, and I think a part of that is the mix of melee and ranged in comparison to most hero shooters I’ve seen.
I'm so happy this happened. It's been great re-experiencing this game. I really hope that this does well. I've been screaming on the internet for years that I like to see this franchise come back. It'd be great to see some remakes of the Blood Omens as well. I think one way they could go is by doing a prequel to even Kain.

I started playing Rivals but also finally started playing FFVII Rebirth recently and I can’t put it down. Story driven games will always win out. I miss when the multiplayer part was an additional component to a game. Gear of War 3 multiplayer will always be king for me. Making it through Horde mode with some random people was the best feeling hahaha
I said this recently , before it was all about creating a world that you could get invested in with multiplayer being extra , and if it was also good it would make the game that much better !
It's crazy that it's been 25 years since the initial release of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. This series and the Blood Omen games are some of my favorite franchises of all time along with MGS and Tenchu. It's good to see they did right by it with the remaster. I've been loving it so far. 👍

I put Soul Reaver up there with Ocarina of Time for my favorite games growing up. The voice acting blew me away as a kid, and based on my ~2.5 hours with the remaster so far it more than holds up to today's standards. And honestly combat still feels fun, even though it's very simple and sometimes pretty janky. I'm very excited to experience both of these games again, and really hope these Remasters are just the beginning
Something interesting I noticed in soul reaver 1 remaster is that the humans instantly will not attack you. In the old version, this was possible, but toward the later bit, I believe. Where if you left them alone in the beginning, they eventually leave you be and bow to you. It was an odd thing to see. But overall, the games are so much fun. The nostalgia chemical in my brain just floods. Lol.
These games hold a special place e in my heart. The story, lore, world building, art, voice acting, and music are top notch imo. I pre ordered immediately when I saw them. I am glad these games are back on some form. If any game deserves a remaster, it's this one. Now, can we get a full-on remake for the games. Like a mg3 delta treatment or something.
This series is in my top three video game experiences. There's this, the Dark Souls games and Elden Ring. Last of Us is up there too. Pre-PS4, this and Socom was it for me!

I have ’em physically on PS1/2 & Dreamcast, but I want to get ’em cleaned up. *However, I’m waiting like half a year for Soul Reaver 1 & 2, in hopes of a physical release.* I double dipped with Tomb Raider 1-3, getting it digital, but then Aspyr gave it a physical re-release like half a year or so later, so I got it again. I’m waiting this time. Eagerly awaiting the Lunar Collection, too.
I haven’t played Marvel Rivals yet. But I keep seeing images of highlighting venom on TH-cam. The character designs look really cool in the style that the game went for, in my opinion. Lastly, I’d love to play that Soul Reaver game, I remember watching my Dad play that when I was a little kid. And I thought Razael was super cool.
I started playing Jedi survivor because it was on a nice Black Friday discount. I never finished the first one, but this one hooked me up. Also started playing the Witcher 3 on ps5, I been craving an open world experience similar to assassin’s creed Odyssey, but with out replaying that. Perfect timing because the first time I tried playing Wild Hunt I just finished playing Odyssey and Valhalla and I was kind of tired of the open world hop on a horse experience but now I’m craving it and this is perfect because I know the Lore, but haven’t finished the game once.
i didn't pay attention to the monetary system in Rivals but now that you mentioned i can't stop thinking about it. I hope they change tha battle pass stuff you're right it should not feel like a gacha or mobile game to keep you hooked each day
I didn’t either because I didn’t care about it and was just playing for fun. Didn’t realize you mainly only get battle pass coins from dailies which sucks majorly
I don’t worry about it so much because I’m just playing for fun and just look at the dailies to mix up the way I play for the day. But it seems like it also works like the beta where the dailies stack throughout the week. And you can blast through it in a couple hours on the weekend.
My mate who loves overwatch is obsessed with MR right now, he thinks it’s better because you can do things on your own or as a duo and don’t need full team coordination to win
Im enjoying marvel rivals because alot of games i play on console are pretty dense or heavy or long. So to play game with very short rounds and bombastic gameplay in between sessions its scratching that 2017 Overwatch itch for me
Bro I feel that with the Multiplayer games. Just no time for the grinding anymore.. rather go at my own pace in a single player game. Loads of remastered games lately the price point isn't great though.. 30$ is a bit high for slightly polished up textures, and slight bug fixes and the ability to play them on newer systems.. like The Thing and the Soul Reaver games... idk just my take..

The Marvel Rivals game is okay but not for me but seeing them in this new genre is pretty cool .. Not sure if you had asked what game I'm playing but I'm playing this indie game called "Slavic Punk: Old timer" its something not everyone heard of or gotten their hands to play it...
Guess this also explains quite well why Jake or Gameranx as a whole in that matter never talked about Wuthering Waves or Zenless Zone Zero. Those 2 are amazing but I would be lying if I said that they aren't designed to be played for... an eternity really. As long as the updates are coming in at least. Worked so far for Genshin so we'll see I guess. Probably best to stay away from them for anyone who's got a backlog of normal games to play.
I need them to give the soul reaver treatment to Gauntlet Dark Legacy. I wouldn’t mind some older Mortal Kombat remasters as well. God dammit Midway Games just needs to have all of their games remastered
This might be a pretty controversial take, but with how thq nordic has handled the darksiders and how those games are with the graphics and world and characters. I would be interested to see what it would be like if thq nordic were to remake or reboot this series starting from the beginning. I want that Shakespearean feel and obviously keep it gothic. I'd want it to be done with extremely respectful taste and care. Share your thoughts guys please and thank you. Also here's another one. I want dontes inferno to be remade but maybe as a light souls like.
I wish remasters for games like this were more qol and cut content/removed features focused. Like weather effects or cut missions being enabled as separately explorable content etc
With the success of the recent Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver remasters I personally hope to see more studios jump on board with the trend. Specifically Capcom, if the don’t plan on doing a full fledged remake of Dino Crisis then at least do a lower budgeted one like these, RE1, 2, & 3 as well.
Hopefully it gets a physical release like TR and hopefully other games get this treatment like Sython Filter, Dino Crisis, Destruction Derby and a lot of other PS1 games.
I don't really like mobas, I've played overwatch in its initial years but dropped off because I wasn't very good at it. Since launch I've played 18hrs of marvel rivals (which is a lot for me). I freaking love this game. I like how it's not really meant to be taken very seriously the most. Your point about them feeling like mobile surface level interpretations is definitely true, but I feel like that would be a problem for me if that wasn't the intention. These characters were never meant to be anything more than a cringe edgy punisher or an ad-friendly spiderman, and so I think that lets everything be taken in bite sizes. If you want to learn more, watch the films, or read the comics, but for here we're just running around having fun and missing 90% of our skill shots together
Rivals kinda is the idea of what I wanted to come from Overwatch’s impact, but it simply doesn’t have the sauce. Not the right game feel, not the right feedback, not the right attention to moment-to-moment gameplay. I’ll probably play it a little while longer, though. It’s decent fun.
Caine from soul reaver is actually the Caine from Caine and Abel in the Bible mentions him being banned to the land of nod (ie nosgoth) modern fan fiction creates a dungeons and dragons game with lore about Caine killing his brother able in the Bible making home the first vampire everybody look into it
Did you play/have any intention on reviewing Slitterhead or has the ship sailed on that one? A game which is hard to recommend to your average gamer - but I personally loved it for all its flaws.
Modern progression in multiplayer is just monetization opportunity. It's shallow, pathetic, and I hate it. I hope Marvel Rivals is fun, but I'll never play it because live service is dead to me.
I play Marvel Rivals now, it's a lot of fun but actually has a way bigger problem than micro transactions. The problem being: Performance. On PC, the performance is abysmal. You are required to use heavy upscaling and everything else on the lowest setting, otherwise the game is unplayable. And I have a PC that eats most other modern titles for breakfast. Even people with maximum high end PC's experience the exact same.
Path of exile has one of the best F2P models out there. You can spend a thousand hours in it and feel like you only need to buy 20 bucks worth of stash tabs
Really not a fan of Marvel Rivals. The hero shooter genre has run its course. Soul Reaver I haven’t played yet but most certainly will be. I agree with you take, it seems like they did enough by cleaning up the original games and offering them as a proper continuation of the franchise. Perhaps a ground up remake would have been better, especially for the combat, but it’s nice seeing those games get love. Also yes, Blood Omen and Defiance are awesome
I am still waiting on a remake for Legend of the Dragoon. Played that back when I was a kid and stuck with me till this day feel like it had a but more potential than finnal fantasy (back on those days)

OW was already dead by the time Ow2 was announced. Blizzard killed Ow with their dumb choices, not OW2.

Rivals kinda is the idea of what I wanted to come from Overwatch’s impact, but it simply doesn’t have the sauce. Not the right game feel, not the right feedback, not the right attention to moment-to-moment gameplay. I’ll probably play it a little while longer, though. It’s decent fun.
Caine from soul reaver is actually the Caine from Caine and Abel in the Bible mentions him being banned to the land of nod (ie nosgoth) modern fan fiction creates a dungeons and dragons game with lore about Caine killing his brother able in the Bible making home the first vampire everybody look into it
I played Marvel Rivals and I love the concept art of it. But it’s not for me. The character design is cool.

A game which is hard to recommend to your average gamer - but I personally loved it for all its flaws.

Modern progression in multiplayer is just monetization opportunity. It's shallow, pathetic, and I hate it. I hope Marvel Rivals is fun, but I'll never play it because live service is dead to me.
I play Marvel Rivals now, it's a lot of fun but actually has a way bigger problem than micro transactions. The problem being: Performance. On PC, the performance is abysmal. You are required to use heavy upscaling and everything else on the lowest setting, otherwise the game is unplayable. And I have a PC that eats most other modern titles for breakfast. Even people with maximum high end PC's experience the exact same.
Path of exile has one of the best F2P models out there. You can spend a thousand hours in it and feel like you only need to buy 20 bucks worth of stash tabs
It's also a very risky one which could completely fail if the game itself isn't just plain GREAT. PoE is so it works, but damn risky for anyone else
Really not a fan of Marvel Rivals. The hero shooter genre has run its course. Soul Reaver I haven’t played yet but most certainly will be. I agree with you take, it seems like they did enough by cleaning up the original games and offering them as a proper continuation of the franchise. Perhaps a ground up remake would have been better, especially for the combat, but it’s nice seeing those games get love. Also yes, Blood Omen and Defiance are awesome
I am still waiting on a remake for Legend of the Dragoon. Played that back when I was a kid and stuck with me till this day feel like it had a but more potential than finnal fantasy (back on those days)
