The beauty of it for him, comes from the understanding that she didn't care if it was real or fake, and in this moment he got realness. We all crave a real connection, but often encounter fake transactions through life. He is one of the treasures of an actual actor who is not a phony. The fact that it also dives into the ideologies presented within the film itself is also an appealing insight into the profound reaction. As the moment is almost like the moment within the film.

That story explains why this generation is okay with AI. As a musician, I can't understand how anyone can listen to fake instruments, autotuned vocals, songs written by someone only to be sung by someone else, AI actors, etc. Creating an illusion is one thing, but removing the humanity from art completely sucks the life and soul from it. I used to sit on the floor as a little girl listening to different musicians from Billy Joel and Elton John to Deep Purple and Led Zepplin. Sometimes I would cry. When I heard Jimmy Page play Bron-Yr-Aur, I sobbed. I could not believe how beautiful that was. Now, everything is predictable and souless. I don't feel anything anymore. There is no breath, no screech from fingers running along the fret board, no emotionally uneven vibrato in a voice full of pain. Nothing. Boring. Dead. I wish I knew what he meant about what was so awesome. To me, the girl doesn’t even realize she's essentially living in the mayrix right now and she's cool with it.

Both biblically and practically, knowledge allows us to defend against and avoid dangers we'd otherwise be helpless against. That said there's innocence in terms of not knowing anything.....and innocence in terms of wisely avoiding the sins and mistakes of others....which requires knowledge firstly of what is good, and secondly of what isnt good.
Then they grow up and see the world isn't rainbows and candy drops and want to end it all.

I think it’s more nuanced than that. Some affluent people have personal issues that’s relatable on a basic level like physical abuse or lack of love and care or simply dreadful and don’t appreciate life. Cypher lived the same life as evey other human in Zion yet he thought differently than everyone else. Tank’s brother (forgot his name) didn’t care to even want to be in the matrix because of the “real” love and family he had in which he felt HE had control over. Not a computer
She really didn't have enough information to form a full opinion. The key component of the matrix is the loss of free will, not so much reality vs simulation. It seemed as though he was being vague on purpose in his response in order to be kind...
I haven't seen Keanu do many interviews, but the few times i have, im always impressed.

I had a lecturer say he had a student who didn't do very well in inclass role plays and simulations, and when asked the student said, who cares it's not real. the classroom is not the real world. The lecturer said everything that was happening in the class was real, and had real world consequences, as in grades, how other classmates perceive the student etc. The simulation was real while you were in it. And it was to prepare/train you for when it happened outside the simulation because humans need a reference piont of experience to deal with every situation they are in.
This was when universities still taught critical thinking and a year before Matrix came out.
For kids and GenZ and beyond the virtual world is the real, and more important than the real world.
