This is a fantastic game with one huge problem - the speed-sensitive controller steering filter limits the steering lock to below what you need to actually get around the track in GT1 cars and faster. With a controller on console it is literally impossible to take the lines the AI take in these cars, because your steering wheel won't turn far enough. I know this because I manually changed the controller filter mode for my xbox controller in the settings ini in the pc version from "pad" to "wheel", and suddenly the steering was perfect, and I could actually steer and take the line I wanted in faster cars.
@@theitalianstig_ Let's see if I can do this without youtube deleting my comment. In: [your user folder]\Documents\Codemasters\GRID\hardwaresettings You will find an xml file called "hardware_settings_config.xml". Open this in wordpad or similar, and near the bottom there is a line: "input device_type="pad" ". Substitute in "wheel" where it says "pad". (Also, while you're there, if you change postprocess enabled to false, then that removes the bloom and yellow filters. I think it looks fantastic like this.) Bear in mind if you change any settings in the in-game options menu it might revert your changes.
@@C.I... thank you so much i'll try that right now. It's crazy that i couldn't find any info about this but i've found your comment under a youtube video
@@theitalianstig_ Haha maybe I'm the only one to work it out so far. P.S. If it doesn't work on the first try, try setting the file as read only after you change it. Just remember to untick it again before you change settings in the game again.
@@C.I... I don't know if the version is downloaded (the first result in reddit abandonware) but in the file it already said wheel😂😂. So I changed it back to pad and it seems to steer more, I'll try more cars and go back and forth with the setting to get a better understanding of the difference
