I just bought the Seagate One Touch 5TB External HD and VIA USB 3.0 a transfer of 211GB was estimated at 4 DAYS! Did a web search and found this video. The drive was formatted in exFAT and THAT was the problem. I performed a quick format using NTFS and BOOM the same transfer took only an hour! Thank You!
WTF Why did Seagate decide to Factory format my drive as as MAC, when it was not advertised as a MAC drive, and it comes with Windows files already on the drive? This is so annoying. I just moved in the drive, have files I cant erase. Now I cant format to fix their mistake, until I find room on my old drive (an older Seagate, but it wasnt Factory-sabotaged as a MAC, so I wasnt aware of this stupid problem).
Are you sure the drive wasn't already formatted to NTFS when you did the first test?? NTFS vs exFAT speed difference should be minimal. I suspect you changed ports or something and claimed it was due to the drive being in exFAT
Today i purchased Seagate Backup plus slim 2 TB but I was hardly getting copy speed of 30 MBps than I formatted it NTFS and now m hardly getting max copy speed of 70 MBps. I am using USB 3.0 Port . Please help how can I fix speed issue
@@greataj2010 Please do not proceed with quick format. If you're done with full formatting, please restart and check again. If that doesn't improve check for faulty cables and replace in need.
thanks you. now averages around 100mb/s from the pathetic 10mb/s which i sometimes get downloading videos from torrent. my samsung t5 that comes formatted exfat is 2x as fast but is $120 for 1tb compared to this $70 seagate for 2tb. i wonder if i format that samsung t5 portable ssd to nfts???

It depends on the file that you're copying. Try to copy a media files for a test. Never copy things like games/software files.
@@freakygamer3138 thanks for quick response but I did tried copying media (.mp4) file but speed was still same.
