Great video, its good to see you do chindits . Do you think you could do a chindit uniform video ? I know chindit is quite a difficult one to do as not many original uniforms have survived and it changed alot throughout the campaign . My dads uncle served in Burma as a chindit and I've just bought a chindit issued Jungle slouch hat so it would be brilliant to see your impression. Much appreciated THE BUFFS
Rifleman Moore, did Chindits use british made webbing ? I know they used Indian made also do you know why they got issued with K rations instead of the 24 hour ration pack . Many thanks The buffs
I believe webbing in theatre would have been a mix but vast quantities of it were Indian, you can actually tell from the scrappy quality in period photographs. I'd suggest Indian was more common. Regarding rations the simple answer is because US rations were available in theatre and in quantity. You also have to consider that the British 24 hour ration was intended to be lived on for comparatively short periods of time before proper food was made available. This is also true of the K rations but less so, you could survive on them for longer, they did at least provide more calories and a better diet than the British 24 hour pack having separate breakfast, dinner and supper units rather than trying to condense everything into high density foodstuffs in one small box.
