John, it's the Tinosorb M in those sunscreens that is giving that (very subtle) white cast. Look for videos of black content creators applying any of those sunscreens and those gave them that distinct white-ish purple cast.
Good video! Like someone else commented, the whitening sunscreens all contain Tinosorb M. Not only does it make my already pale skin even paler, it also clings to beard hairs (guy here). I also like the Numbuzin sunscreen, but I didn’t find it any more cosmetically pleasing or ‘filter magic’ than the other newer Korean sunscreens. It’s very expensive currently, so a pass for me. My go-to sunscreens currently are the Purito centella one and the new Cosrx Ultra Light Invisible sunscreen.
I have same issue, you can faintly see the Tinosorb M particles in my facial hair. After trying around 30 Korean Sunscreens to date, I am starting to avoid Tinosorb M. Best sunscreen to date is HaruHaru, I also like Mixsoon Centella, and the P.CALM one is a good option too. I also don't like overly Dewy finish, I prefer the more natural look. What other Sunscreens would you recommend?
Thank you for this video!! I have tried so many Korean sunscreens that so many other people rave about. None of them agreed with my oily sweaty skin in the summer and they would all just melt off so fast. I finally tried Japanese sunscreens and they are a total game changer! Turns out the Korean sunscreens I tried were all kolmar formulas. It seems my skin prefers Japanese sunscreen formulas in the summer. I will try out the more moisturizing sunscreens again when it cools off this winter
I love the way you review sunscreens! Yeah I use mostly Japanese spf now (skin aqua and Nivea), but I really like using Korean formulations in the winter because I get soo dry.
I’m one of those people who niacinamide doesn’t agree with and I especially can’t imagine using it multiple times daily…it’s amazing with all the options these day how hard it is to build a routine without it that also works for my sensitive acne prone skin
Kolmar wasn't the manufacturer of the Purito sunscreen that failed the SPF testing , it was a smaller manufacturer (I can't really remember the name but Odile Monod talked about it on her Instagram page)
i loveeee your videos! i appreciate how honest you are and your editing is so entertaining! i don't know if you would ever consider this, and feel free to ignore or say no, but i was wondering if you would do a video recommending tinted sunscreens? i know tinted ones are crucial in regulating and dealing with hyperpigmentation -- which is something i am struggling with -- but if that doesn't interest you, no worries; i know these kind of videos can be really expensive.
great video love your style lol , I'm a person who is in my mature aging skin so of course Odile from monodist is my skincare mentor but i really love Tina Tanaka only because she's the first lady to introduce the J beauty ambassador in English , Numbuzin 1 suncreen is the best , i only buy korean sunscreen only because it's comfortable to wear it every day situation and more skincare support , but if i sweat alot , i were usually buy an ( out door or water proof )
The skin1004 is currently my favourite, I have no complaints about it. I also love the tocobo but now that I’m at the end of the bottle and have been using it for a while, I’ve noticed my skin started reacting to it getting red and flush :( their sun stick is so good tho The same sensitivity issue happened after a couple of bottles of the BOJ too, I wonder if there’s some common ingredient that my skin doesn’t like
Have you tried Benton’s cica gel sunscreen? I am an oily gal, so would love to use Japanese sunscreens on my face, but do they sting my eyes!! Benton’s goes on smooth (it’s chemical sunscreen) but not as dewy and has passed lab tests for non-irritation for eyes.
Can you test which ones have the least pilling? I love the numbuzin one but when I use the 3 finger technique it rolls off of my face if rub too hard/if I’m not careful. Forget using it with makeup, it’s a total disaster. So I’m wondering which one of those would be the most makeup friendly.. great video
Seconding this! Numbuzin pilled on me too unless I applied less than needed. Tocobo sunscreen bio-watery & new cica sun serum (tried in store) pilled too which sucks because the consistency/formula was one of my favorites. Currently using haruharu's airyfit spf. It hasn't been pilling on me on application and reapplication. If I purposely rub my finger harshly on my skin then yes, it'll pill. I have genetic deep neck lines and that is the official pilling test which haruharu passed (no pilling!) unlike numbuzin / tocobo. Isn't as shiny as other korean spf and no problems with makeup so far although I have heard others have experienced pilling. I'm combo-oily skin in a hot humid climate.. I wonder if a drier climate encourages pilling. My OG fave skin aqua gel never pilled and was great under makeup but it's been reformulated and I haven't tried it yet.
@@KawaiiKandi Glad to hear I’m not the only one with this issue! I was genuinely shocked at how bad it pills yet no one mentions it! Good looking out telling me about the Tocobo - I was going to try that one so I will definitely pass on it! I’ve heard good reviews about the haruharu black rice one but it looked really thick and kind of had a matte/drying finish? I have oily skin too but it’s very dehydrated and I love the glass skin look. Numbuzin has the glass skin look but at the expense of awful pilling. I’m building a cart on Yesstyle with spfs that allegedly don’t pill - I have house of hur spf, ksecret collagen lotion spf, and the skin1004 centella hylu-cica spf. I feel like the skin1004 is definitely going to have a high chance of pilling bc allegedly the same lab makes their spf, BOJ’s rice spf and the numbuzin one. BOJ rice spf pilled bad too so I’m not hopeful for skin1004 lol, plus I low key hate: everything product Ive ever tried from them..
@@Yuriy99 I’m shocked no one mentioned it too. It makes me question how much people apply at times. I got the recommendation of tocobo and numbuzin from Tina Tanaka.. so yeah not taking her rec’s anymore lol. Yes the haru haru airyfit spf is thicker than what I’m accustomed to from Asian spf but it absorbs well. Has normal spreadability, I find myself applying more to not tug my skin so much. It’s not completely matte, more satin matte which I don’t hate. Gets more glass skin over time especially in summer. It’s hydrating enough for me who is dehydrated around cheeks and mouth. House of Hur I also have in my cart because of glowbyramon! It definitely looked glowy so I think you’ll like it. I’m hoping it will be a non-pilling dupe to Tocobo. It has all newer filters just like numbuzin & tocobo. The skin1004 Hylau-cica I’m curious about too but it looks more dewy and has Tinosorb M. I haven’t heard any pilling complaints about it on the AsianBeauty subreddit but if you did not react well or not like most of their other products then it might be better to avoid. It goes on sale often and less than $10 wouldn’t be such a loss to try. BoJ I did not like either. I don’t remember if I applied it to my neck but I don’t remember pilling. It was just super greasy and uncomfortable for me. They released a new one “aqua fresh” and doesn’t have Tinosorb m as well, going to try that on my next Asian beauty haul!
Dr. Ceuracle stung my face so badly. The sensation stayed even after washing my face :((. I gave it to my mom and at first it was alright but after a couple of uses it sensitised her as well. We had to throw it out
I don't mean any disrespect, I understand looking greasy is very popular these days... But I would be ashamed leaving the house looking like I spread a stick of butter over my face.

That is why Kolmar released a new updated formula without Tinosorb M that some brands are now using.
The numbuzin, p.calm and haru-haru wonder have the new Tinosorb M-less formula.

Which Japanese ones do you like?
Ditto to all that

Haru Haru Wonder! Is the best for deeper tones!

Torriden dive in moisture box says cosmax! Love the videos you are my fav skintertainment channel besides tina and labmuffin
I really enjoyed the video! Thanks for making it🎉🎉
Ur skincare content is funn 😂
Sunscreen review king.
I love your editing style and comprehensive reviewing, you're also funny without being cringy. Subscribed!

wow, thank you so much! helpful video!
Tried out the P.Calm today and I really enjoyed it! I live in a very dry climate so it’s great for that.

One of the best korean sunscreen reviews.

omg stop ik I'll eat this video up like I need more skincare in my life
Want more videos 🙂

ok you made me get the numbuzin one hehe
ROUND LAB is so cheap in China, only 7 dollar, so I always buy this one.😂
Think he dealt pretty well woth the screaming protester and doing an interview with live taping
❤
I don't mean any disrespect, I understand looking greasy is very popular these days...
But I would be ashamed leaving the house looking like I spread a stick of butter over my face.
i would rather look like a butterface than have a sunburn, im not gonna be ashamed for taking care of myself!
Yesss I LOVE THIS VID❤, also thank you so much like I really needed this video for a good recommendation. 🫶
