Got to know Li Hong Yi a lot more in this talk. Really nice to hear him speak so openly. In spite of his blood connection, he is true to himself and unafraid to acknowledge what needs to be improved on in SG gov, just like numerous gov in the world. I was under a certain impression of him based on hear say. now I know it's not true. And a good reminder for me to never form the opinion of a person based on what was said of the person.
Redeem SG is a wonderful technology breakthrough for SG govt. A compliant way of funding government grants to singaporeans. As a Singaporean, I am proud of it.
I firmly believe that Li Hong Yi has achieved his current position through his merit and capabilities. I have confidence that the Singapore government's decisions are not influenced by family connections, and they wouldn't entrust crucial responsibilities to him solely because of his surname. The world is full of opportunities for intelligent and capable individuals like Li Hong Yi. Singaporeans should appreciate his commitment to improving the lives of the people instead of pursuing opportunities to establish the next unicorn in the business world.
Exciting projects in the pipeline... distributing and administratering government subsidies to those who need them. Looking forward to e-vouchers, e-discounts and e-rebates can reach out to those who need them.
Very impressive and the enthusiasm about making an impact to the world is infectious! Brilliant mind and does have shades of his famous dad, maybe mom too lol
I was skeptical of this guy born with a silver spoon. Then i stumbled onto this video. He could be right and do wonders with the education and skills he possesed, and most importantly, the powers/connections he inherited.
When are Singaporeans going to get their "silver spoon"? Ministers and top civil servants already got their with their million $ salary - the highest on the planet.
This interview reveals to us, S’poreans, how dynamic and brilliant HongYi is. No one should doubt HongYi’s capabilities just because he is the son of famous parents. This video should go viral amongst S’poreans. So proud of this young man! Plus he is very handsome !! HongYi, S’pore govt needs someone like you. If only we can clone you. Stay in SG!
Gov has more influence and a wider spread. You can do more things, especially you have the backing. Private sector is more narrowly focus on profit making.
Govt usually hv to justify every cent and also easy for the country’s people to use, especially for the non IT savvy. A few more “obstacles” to hop thru.
Li HongYi is a highly intelligent and capable person. He could have gone on to be successful with his own privatr company. Why would he want to return to Singapore and be working in the government? He just wants to serve the greater goods. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Inside his heart, he still wants to create the greatest impact for the society and the products he came out with is accessible by all regardless of their status. This is fundamentally different from having your company and have to be concerned with the profit margin and be answerable to the investors, thus coming out with a product that may only be accessible by a certain group. To the naysayers here, just try to find any singaporean who doesn't benefit from this fellow's hardwork. We all use the government apps from time to time. Life has become more convenient to all of us due to the innovation.
PAP need people like you. The goverment should be lead by young aspiring people instead of so many oldies MP freeloading on PAP platform. Way to go Hongyi hope you become PM of Singapore in the near future and do your father LHL proud.
If the government does not function, a small country with limited resources will not functIon. You are on the correct path to aid digitalization in govt sector withfull compliance especially in the area of mitigating corruption risk.

He clearly landed the job thanks to his father! The usual propaganda won't fool most Singaporeans today, except for a few here. I believe most Singaporeans recognize that there are plenty of others more capable of doing a better job. Clever marketing, though, to elevate the family’s reputation and push a political agenda, paving the way for a future in office after Lawrence Wong.
One of the "open governmemt products" Singaporeans are not likely to see is the "whole truth" because of the lack of openness and transparncy of the government.
For Singapore "open government" is an oxymoron. The Government led by his father is not open and transparent. That is why there is no real accountability. Its "ownself check ownself" is a joke. Hongyi should talk his parents before talikng about "open government". It does not exist in Singapore. Also, what is the point of "open government" if there is no openness and transparency.
Stagnant wage maybe u r incapable to get a pay raise. Public housing price u oppy IB only look at re-sale price. SG economy is doing better than US and many other 1st world country.
@@Jack-hy2ki Comparing countries is a dubious exercise. You can always find a worse country than where you are living unless you are in Afghanistan or Ukraine.
Sadly, even the best talents in Singapore can't speak in English fluently. The country needs to restructure its education system, import more native speakers as teachers and ban people who can't speak good English from the national tvs.

Great conversation if he stop using 'like' a zillion times!
This like word is being overused all over Singapore's young generation for some weird reason.. I can't continue with the video just because of that.
Seriously he should go for speech therapy if he wants to engage in public speaking.
This is how young Americans speak and as most American culture, it spreads all over the world, sad.
It’s acceptable

do you know who is his Grandfather?
Lee Kuan Yew was a prominent member of the triads. Can see easily Singaporeans are low class with dirty money
