Got to know Li Hong Yi a lot more in this talk. Really nice to hear him speak so openly. In spite of his blood connection, he is true to himself and unafraid to acknowledge what needs to be improved on in SG
gov, just like numerous gov in the world. I was under a certain impression of him based on hear say. now I know it's not true. And a good reminder for me to never form the opinion of a person based on what was said of the person.

I firmly believe that Li Hong Yi has achieved his current position through his merit and capabilities. I have confidence that the Singapore government's decisions are not influenced by family connections, and they wouldn't entrust crucial responsibilities to him solely because of his surname. The world is full of opportunities for intelligent and capable individuals like Li Hong Yi. Singaporeans should appreciate his commitment to improving the lives of the people instead of pursuing opportunities to establish the next unicorn in the business world.

Li HongYi is a highly intelligent and capable person. He could have gone on to be successful with his own privatr company. Why would he want to return to Singapore and be working in the government? He just wants to serve the greater goods. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Inside his heart, he still wants to create the greatest impact for the society and the products he came out with is accessible by all regardless of their status.
This is fundamentally different from having your company and have to be concerned with the profit margin and be answerable to the investors, thus coming out with a product that may only be accessible by a certain group.
To the naysayers here, just try to find any singaporean who doesn't benefit from this fellow's hardwork. We all use the government apps from time to time. Life has become more convenient to all of us due to the innovation.

Clever marketing, though, to elevate the family’s reputation and push a political agenda, paving the way for a future in office after Lawrence Wong.

For Singapore "open government" is an oxymoron. The Government led by his father is not open and transparent. That is why there is no real accountability. Its "ownself check ownself" is a joke. Hongyi should talk his parents before talikng about "open government". It does not exist in Singapore. Also, what is the point of "open government" if there is no openness and transparency.
