    Big thanks to the tip to stop the joint from moving when tightening the nuts! I was anxious about this 😂

      @@FixingWithPassionindeed i just done it too and your tips really help to stop the joints from spinning. The conic joint on the front left of the truck was almost impossible to remove though 😂 it even broke the extractor tool so we bought another one and crossed finger and it finally worked! on the front right i used the jack to push one through and it went out after hammering it.

    Why wouldn’t you replace the tie rods while you were there? I’m not criticizing, I’m just learning how to replace my tie rods and saw this video.

    If the tie rod falls out and the nut hasn't come all the way off yet you can use a C-clamp to squeeze it back into place.

    Thank you for the video. It was a great help in changing the center link and idler arm on my Xterra.

    Hey! Zack here from CA. I have a 2002 xterra like you only mine is 2wd. I think I am going to attempt to convert it, and your videos are very helpful, keep it up! Also, an easy upgrade project (if your X came with the wiring harness installed) is to put fog lights on the front of the car. Those inserts pop right out and its plug and play!

    The drag link is the Achilles heel of the x steering system. Any lift and you'll go through one a year at least. My guy rebuilds mine.
    Also, my mechanic has a very easy adjustment on the steering box that helped reduce the slack even more.

    Theres tear on your cv boot. Does this solve the issue after couple of months installing it?

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tear has been there since I've had the xterra. Keeping a eye on it. Probably fix it next. Doesn't really effect the steering tho.

    Does this happen to 2005 Frontier? I have a sloppy steering wheel.

    • @alecb8509
      @alecb8509 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, 2005 and newer xterra and frontier use a rack and pinion steering system.
