My biggest issues is all of my sims will freeze but the time will keep going and their actions will just continue to full up. Usually pausing the game helps but I can’t even pause when this happens //: it’s been happening so much to the point where I can barely play. Now I’m nervous about how more messed up the new expansion/update beforehand is going to make my game ):

I had problems with crashing and forever loading aswell. Switching off direct x 11 helped me with the crashing problem. After some research i found out that the 'off the grid' challange in build mode caused my forever loading issue...turning that off helped me with that. Sorry for my bad english. Hope this helps someone❤
Dont forget the fact that the 'Off the grid lot challenge' is totaly broken and can make you unable to load any family with that lot trait in the neighbors ending up in a infinite loading screen. i remove that lot trait and i could play normaly my families again. for me it was that game bug not the X11 or x9 switch. :)
I have never, in my probably 20 years of gaming experience, had so many problems with a game. It’s actually beyond parody. When you buy a game, you should have near complete control over it as YOUR property. When and if you update, playing online or offline, what and if to use a launcher for the game. I feel like every time I boot up this game - if I even get into the HORRIBLE ea-app (wost app ever to exist), I run into a host of involentary updates and changes I don’t even want that mess up my entire game. It’s not unusual that I have to spend half an hour to up to an hour just to get INTO the game. Constant restarts, googling my issues etc.
I think the best thing with this fix is maybe to also make sure your PC runs DirectX11, maybe thats why the crashes were happening, because theres so many users who dont have up to that which is why theres a button now to switch back!

I have a Mac. The game will freeze and I’ll have to force quit the game. I can tell while it’s frozen that I’m clicking around and the game is still active but the video locks up no mods. This is a clean install there. I’ve never been any mods in this safe. There are no mods in my game or installed
Yesss, thank you for posting this fix, it worked for me! My game would load in but every icon and thought bubble, would endlessly multiply across the screen and the control panel would flicker white and freeze every few seconds- my game was completely unplayable. If your game’s doing this, the DX11 update was definitely the issue
The last 3 days i was trying to load my gameplay but i had endless loading screen. Then i figured what was the issues. So basically it's from the grim reaper event, i remember i turned on the lot trait challenge so if you have it turn it off or just delete the load game. I also tried some tutorial how to run your sims faster than viola it worked. And last, broken cc or mods can corrupted your game please go fix it there are some tutorial on yt you can try. In conclusion, the major issues are from EA itself. Goodluck, yall
Could you please suggest some tutorials about how to identify broken mods? Because I have a issue with the loading screen but when saving: basically whenever i save my game, the little wheel keeps spinning non stop for a long time (even 10+ minutes) and idk what else to do, but to reset my pc :/ i have switched to x9 and yes it loads faster, but since when the grim event, i have troubles with saving and literally cannot play. I have exposed this issue in a reddit forum and the only help i've recieved is to delete broken ccs, which i already did... and I deleted about 1000 files (i am addicted to cc shopping). It fixed nothing of my main issue though :(

I HAD a BIT of lagg issue while I waa playing the Grim Reaper awards and challenge. Week 4. But then it fixed it self thank goodness befor I could continue. .N' I play on console. 👍✌ i was GLAD that I COULD continue to play The grim reaper challange/awards. 👍
I haven't noticed any disappearing sims & I haven't had the eternal loading screen. I usually use a bunch of mods & cc, but for now, except for mccc, I'm playing mod free until after the new pack comes out & modders update their content. My computer is pretty new, which may be one reason I don't have an issue with Directx 11. I'm using Windows 10 instead of 11, which may be another reason. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't experience glitches and issues with the game in general. I'm just not suffering from those particular problems. I'm glad to know about the fix, if I ever do have issues with it. My game loads pretty fast, but the problem is when it's done loading, it shows a blank screen and goes back to the EA app. So, I can't even switch back to direct x9. I've tried everything. Can someone please help me with this?😔
Mine doesn't give me the option to change that at all on my laptop. My game is so frozen the time on the Sims doesn't even move. They are all just standing there like the game is paused. Every time I load into my game. I have to force close my entire laptop cause it won't even shut down. I have ZERO mods. I'm getting really sick of this. I spend more time trying to get my game to work than actually playing lately. Why would I buy more packs if my Sims won't even MOVE.
Chances are you are still on DX9 by default. There is an issue with the sims not recognising some graphics card. Also some people don't have a separate graphics card and aren't set to DX11 by default. You can check the version when you start up the game, on the first screen, the home screen, you can see your version number in the lower right corner. If that mentions DX9, you know are still playing on that version. You can force DX9 or DX11 by adding somethingto the command line in the properties in the EA app.
My game still crashes but so far no sim disappearing and forever loading screen hasn't happened to me since the last couple updates. I play on Xbox 1. Only time I have sims disappearing is when I start a new game file and forget to disable death on story progression.

I can run dx11 no problem with no lag, but I have to put -dx11 in the command line and it keeps reverting back to to 9 every so often, so I figured if I could uncheck this 9 check box you found it might solve the defaulting back to 9. Dogs have disappeared from one of my family's houses. No, they didn't run away or die. Just gone. Also having a lot of clothing issues, Sims with no shirts or walking around in bras and undies on the street. I've also been disconnecting a lot from EA which has not really been a problem until up to now. So you know, if you go to save it's not working and you're SOL.

I think it has to do with the directx11 switch. Remember the game will now run on directx11, not 9. Also alot of mods and cc runs on dx9. Upcoming packs will also run dx11 not 9, so eventually you'll have issues again.

Do you have any tips for when your furniture disappears? Lately whenever I try to place a bed, either a in game one or cc one, it disappears but shows the money being taken out. I don’t know if it’s because of something with all my bed cc or not. If you guys have any tips please let me know, I just want to make a good bedroom for my sim 😭
Hiii 🌸 This happened to me when the Highschool pack first came out. Do you have Sims 4 Studio? (free software but you'll need to create an account) Under the Content Management menu - Batch Fixes - Objects - there's a specific fix for the beds Hope this helps🌺
I haven't been able to play the game for 2 months because of the endless loading screen. I finally found this video and when I launched the game options menu. I don't have a direct x 9 option. Did you have to do something to add it in? I updated and its not there.
my problem is that my pointer goes crazy and will not let me click on something and when i can click on something my pointer just fly's around my screen
I have a very bad delaying lag. So when i click on my sims or another sim for interactions it takes so long for the options to show and even longer for them to do it.
Did you update all your mods and delete the local thumbcache? Place your mods folder onto the desktop so the game can generate a new one. You can then create a new fresh save game (not your current save game otherwise you’ll be dealing with bald heads among other things) and test out the calendar. This way it can help narrow down if it’s mod or a game bug.
What if your game keeps crashing whenever you open build mode, specifically for me it crashes immediately after I open the couch menu to pick out a couch.

My issue is with the Grim Reaper challenge is some of the items you have to buy in build mode Grim Reaper Gramaphone/Phonograph and then buy the Portrait I thought once these items were claimed them they are yours free, including the Grims Cruiser Bike plus The Green Lady's lost tome. I thought once these items are claimed, it will be there in your inventory No. I lost my Batfish don't know what happened there and my Angel Fish. Now since I had my Sim read the green lady's tome my sim put it down somewhere, but I can have a look around but you would think I locate it No. Maybe the Inventory no. So, does that mean I have to buy it again? I'm pulling my hair out.
Im on console and currently im constantly getting error code 0... which deletes save files I even uninstalled. I tried a new save and with the very first save it instantly says error code 0. Im scared to open other saves.
My issue is that the social menu won't even load Like, that's half the game. I deleted 70% of my households and lots, took out mods and cc, no improvement So sick of it!
I left out Twisted Mexi BBB and TOOL mod's plus MCCC mod, since we were advised it upsets the grim reapers reward, Better Exceptions I kept and that has been fantastic letting me what's wrong what to take out and any duplicates, plus I left in the Malware 1.5 in. I kept DX9 changed from DX11.
I cant get the grims favorite flower to complete and get the extra points even though I got the flowers. This is AFTER the game corrupted my 7 year save and now I have to start over, this is terrible game design at this point.
on Mac I have had little issues crashing but since I downloaded and have been using the university pack from Black Friday, I'm constantly getting crashes. I have deleted and reinstalled apps. any mcc discord bot has no info... I just do not get whats going on. I have done repair and clear cache.
I'm also on mac and was running it fine with university for years, but mine is also crashing now so maybe it's just an update or the EA app or something :(

Anyone else having issues of the game just freezing while saving your build? It happened several times to me last week. I save often bc of past issues of the game crashing and losing my progress. Recently I'll save a build but the circle thingy will just keep going and going but it doesn't finish the save or do anything. ESC doesn't work, I can't minimize or alt-tab. All I can do is end task in task manager and restart the game. No error codes. I don't use mods but I have CC, however this happens with or without the CC. ✌🏻

DirectX 11 is not out for Intel PCs using the sims 4, and I have an Intel PC.

I use cursedforge for my mods and cc and it yells you what mods and cc are broken and needs update I haven't had a problem with it yet

For CC it usually means they need to update it after a sims patch or new pack.

Need help!!! All the events like romantic festival, geek fest, etc, all pile up on top of each other in the city. What can I do?

Sometimes when I reset my sim they turn into a ghost but if I exit without saving it fixes itself

After the Direct x 11 update, my game has been reaching so much only in build/buy, and when I enter game options, direct x 11 is nowhere to be found. For context, I play on my laptop. Do you have any ideas where it could be?

I couldn't even play today because it kept crashing in the loading screen, to load into the game. Yesterday, my sims kept freezing and weren't able to move but their needs were going down. I had to keep closing my game
My issue is with the Grim Reaper challenge is some of the items you have to buy in build mode Grim Reaper Gramaphone/Phonograph and then buy the Portrait I thought once these items were claimed them they are yours free, including the Grims Cruiser Bike plus The Green Lady's lost tome. I thought once these items are claimed, it will be there in your inventory No. I lost my Batfish don't know what happened there and my Angel Fish.
Now since I had my Sim read the green lady's tome my sim put it down somewhere, but I can have a look around but you would think I locate it No. Maybe the Inventory no. So, does that mean I have to buy it again? I'm pulling my hair out.
Im on console and currently im constantly getting error code 0... which deletes save files I even uninstalled. I tried a new save and with the very first save it instantly says error code 0. Im scared to open other saves.
When i leave cas my game stops working and exits the game...

My game keeps crashing when I want to save/exit out of CAS the game loads fine it’s only when I’m trying to leave CAS
I had problems in my sims with the highschool years expansion and no one moved when I go to school with two teenagers 😅

My issue is whenever in build mode, my game crashes when i click the cabinets or sinks. How can i fix that. I have no mods or cc.
My issue is that the social menu won't even load
Like, that's half the game. I deleted 70% of my households and lots, took out mods and cc, no improvement
So sick of it!
I left out Twisted Mexi BBB and TOOL mod's plus MCCC mod, since we were advised it upsets the grim reapers reward, Better Exceptions I kept and that has been fantastic letting me what's wrong what to take out and any duplicates, plus I left in the Malware 1.5 in. I kept DX9 changed from DX11.
Constant constant CONSTANT crashing. I have to tap the power button on my laptop to reset it every minute or so.
My build mode will not show anything not even the thing where you can build or place items do you have anything to fix it!
My screen looks glitching like I can click on everything but it looks like my screen is cracked but it's not
It isn't just forever loading screens. It is never loading. On top of the fact none of the fishing spots in Sulani work.
I haven’t been able to play the reaper rewards since week 1. So ima try and switch my direct X
I cant get the grims favorite flower to complete and get the extra points even though I got the flowers. This is AFTER the game corrupted my 7 year save and now I have to start over, this is terrible game design at this point.
My game just updated to dx11 and it has forever loading screen. I tried to switch to dx9, but my crashes everytime.
on Mac I have had little issues crashing but since I downloaded and have been using the university pack from Black Friday, I'm constantly getting crashes. I have deleted and reinstalled apps. any mcc discord bot has no info... I just do not get whats going on. I have done repair and clear cache.
I'm also on mac and was running it fine with university for years, but mine is also crashing now so maybe it's just an update or the EA app or something :(
If you are using gshade with direct x11 can you still switch the direct x9 in the sims options? Or will I need to redo gshade back to direct x9?
Hi, you’ll have to just do a simple reinstall and just tick dx9 again.

Was ur sim building menu messed up like everything is on top of eachother if so how did you fix it to be normal I been struggling I already deleted and redownload all my mods to the current update and nothing is working
i play on playstation so my game doesn’t use direct X11 and with whatever the Sims team has been working on lately is causing my game to crash, again I playstation so I don’t have any mods or cc in my game.

I don't have bugs in the Sims 4 on my console I think everything fixed for me for now anyways but ugh I feel bad for everyone else but for rent is still buggy I can't even go to the world so that's annoying and then I got lovestruck and horse ranch hopefully my game won't be slow but idk if those packs are fixed I hope with life and death pack won't be buggy like the rest were 😢😴🙄

Anyone else having issues of the game just freezing while saving your build? It happened several times to me last week. I save often bc of past issues of the game crashing and losing my progress. Recently I'll save a build but the circle thingy will just keep going and going but it doesn't finish the save or do anything. ESC doesn't work, I can't minimize or alt-tab. All I can do is end task in task manager and restart the game. No error codes. I don't use mods but I have CC, however this happens with or without the CC. ✌🏻
