This video also reminds me that we STILL have segregated schools today. One way this happens is that different communities have their own school districts, and those communities have long prohibited and then discouraged Black families from living in those places. Another way this happens is through "magnet" programs. Districts with fewer white students try to prevent white flight by having special programs that are offered mainly to them. In the schools where the majority of Black and Latino students go, grade level standards are not even taught to many of those who could learn them. How should we be fixing these problems?
