But that would mean they were Cardian knights though, I don’t think Cookoos would be up for it. Plus they don’t know how to actually use magic. I guess a lot of the 20ish knight are unaccounted for, but I think they’d be even more skilled than just one magic attack.
@@Blepsworth The Haligtree is specifically for people who were persecuted. A safe haven from brutalities from where they come from. Generally this only applies to the Golden Order. A failed sorcerer is just out of luck. And the way to the Haligtree is a very long, very arduous and very difficult journey. Not many make it. And certainly lousy failed sorcerers wouldn't even know of it's existence or where to find it at all. Only those who find the inner strength to make the journey, are worthy of entrance to it's doors.
The black knife assassins were against the golden order, and after sneaking into Leyndell to kill Godwyn they were hunted down by the knights of Leyndell. After that a tree sentinel was equipped with a torch to prevent another event like the death of Godwyn.
With all of the demigod's armies using about the same armor and equipment, I wonder if they were all once part of one larger army or all inherited equipment from a larger one. They all probably served as a part of the Erdtree's forces, but most seem to serve the demigods more than the Erdtree order.

This is interesting because soldiers/knights whom serve their lord/demigod while being in a larger army under the erdtree order is somewhat rooted in history. When medieval armies would form a king would send his lords to raise smaller armies in the lands/properties he had given them. The lords would then arm and take the soldiers they raised to the king and a larger army would be formed. so often times medieval soldiers would wear the standards of their lord they served under while still being in a kings army
Thank you for mentioning Kristoff. His feat is so underrated. Dude had defeated a demigod, and unlike Black knife Tiche he did it solo. And if Godrick and Godfroy were together during the fight then that would make his feat even more impressive because that would mean he won a 2v1 against TWO demigods.

It’s likely possible that miquellan knights sword was planned to be given to the knights of the haligtree but do to Miquella never emerging from his cocoon it became nothing more but a forgotten dream like so many wonderful idea’s that many came up with in the haligtree.🤔🐱

All the excitement around the DLC and that preview picture made me realize, the Haligtree Knights wear a crown of unalloyed gold that is shaped- or modeled after Miquellas distinctive hair braid.
The haligtree has got to be the most interesting compared to other societies of the lands-between as it converges multiple aspects from the studies of faith, magic and the rejected together. Even though the haligtree didnt meet full fruitition you could imagine what it could've become under miquellas order, I'm definitley looking forward to the dlc in the future.
Imagine if we did indeed have covenants and we got covenant skills like the Cleanrots' golden spear grab or the Haligtree Knights' soul spear with the magic thrust. Goddamn.
We have that attack. It's called Glintstone pebble ash of war. Which indicates these particular knights are capable of sorcery. And they are also equipped with a flask of crimson tears for some reason
While the Knights of the haligtree & the cleanrot knights are both part of the same faction, the cleanrot knights are loyal to Melania while the knights of the haligtree are loyal to Miquella. An interesting note is that the cleanrot knights are susceptible to the "bewitching branch," while the haligtree knights are immune to its enchanting effects.

I thinks it's because they were around before the erdtree. Before the rune of death was created the deathbirds were the ones who took care of the dead.they are fully enemies of the erdtree and that's why holy damage destroys them. Death blight wasn't a creation of godwyns he is just the prince of it since he is locked in his limbo.
Love yalls lore videos, I do agree that the Miquellen Knight Sword was intended to be given to whoever was chosen to lead the forces, but I would argue against that being Loretta since she already had a weapon imbued with unalloyed gold and that possibly Loretta's War Scythe was the proof of concept for this sword.

A sword of unalloyed gold, yet powerfull enough to use the amber inside to power it. Could that sword have been Miquelle's instead, before his deep slumber. Can we save Miquelle, who is the Gloam Eyed Queen, who was the Dung Eater Before, what was the crime Prawn Boy had done to be locked up, will there be new endings on these, can we save Blaidd with the Unalloyed Needle if we give it to him before finishing Rannis quest, and my burning question (minus who is the Gloam Eyed Queen (please if you can, id love a video on that)), what more is to come? With all thats in this game we have millions of questions, but few answers, and it leaves me hungry for more.
I really enjoy these vids man, keep up the the great work! Thinking about the knights and how they function, I always viewed the cleanrots as the most dedicated/corrupted due to how their story revolves around them accepting rot and still holding true to Malenia. The Crucible knights often reflect pure strength and longevity, since there is only a handful and they were not slaughtered in any skirmishes. The redmanes seemed to be the most honorable and tactical, since we do not find them anywhere except Caelid fighting abominations and burning away the rot, even after Radahn became feral.
Just when I thought there were no more knights to talk about, this gem drops. The Leyndell knights typically gave me pain on my first playthrough, and everything in the Haligtree just hits hard. Solidified my hatred for knights in general early on before I 'got gud' (or 'finger but hole'). Nice video once more.
I was wondering if you have future plans to do a video on the ulcerated tree spirit, I find them a sort of interesting as I think there’s a connection between them and the tree avatar mostly because of their tree body’s and they look like a mutated version of them, that’s about it for connections for me.😅 I don’t see any videos on them but I guess that’s because I think there isn’t much or any in game lore about them from what I’ve seen.

One of the greatest wastes of an enemy type in all of Elden Ring, a game that is all too eager to waste enemies, are the Haligtree Knights. It actually boggles my mind how there are a grand total of two knights on the main path through the area, set up to gank you with an avatar, and all the rest are just kinda shafted off in a random offshoot area that literally has no incentive for you to explore it. These knights buff themselves, cast glintstones, guard counter, drink wondrous physicks, and are overall the ultimate variation of the knight enemy type. And yet, there is not a single interesting enemy encounter with them.
This is fromsoft fashion not everythings meant to be put right in your face if it was shit would be mad boring Just because the enemies unique in difficulty that doesnt mean that they should be spammed 1. Thats a western trope 2. You probably wouldn't know this but thats literally why so many people bitched about scholars for ds2....literally In which you think you want that but you really don't You really want 10 Haligtree knights jumping you at the same time? A slow burn, traversing down Elphael, with the knights set up strategically to harass and pull a player to explore the various paths, rather than the actual, literal spam that they do in the game already as is. The Haligtree Knights at the bottom of Elphael are literally what you accuse me of wanting, just a massive gank with no thought or care. No, what I want are enemy placements where I can feel the tender loving care of the dark lord Miyazaki in each and every deliberately placed enemy. Take Irithyll of the Boreal Valley's opening street, quite possibly the best enemy encounter they have ever created. An introduction of the Pontiff Knights in an arena where rushing ahead will result in getting ganked. Instead, hang back and learn the aggressive, non-shield wielder, with occasional projectiles from the passive shield wielder. Then, advance and reinforce what you learned with the third knight that is waiting to ambush you, then finish the shield wielder. After that, you are introduced to the slaves in an open courtyard, then immediately accosted by a fire witch and her three magic infused slaves. The ensuing battle of zone denial as you bob and weave between the slaves, their AOE's as they eject the magic from their weapons, and the Fire Witch's various flame casts is, by itself, far more intricately designed and meticulously crafted than any enemy encounter in the entirety of Elden Ring, and this is just the halfway point down the street. What follows is a repeat of the previous fight, but on a narrow street and with the Fire Witch atop a raised balcony, preventing a player from just bursting the witch down. Finally, the street ends with a Duo of Pontiff Knights, a final exam and a test to see if you still remember how to fight them. Afterwards, in the next courtyard, a player sees a Fire Witch, flanked by knights, turn and approach them. If a player hasn't already noped away from that, then they will when they enter and are ambushed by another witch and Pontiff Knight. Instead, this courtyard encourages a player to look around for another path, which there is off to the left, leading to the next bonfire. That is what I want, an enemy encounter that is deadly, forcing various tactics to account for enemies using the environment to their advantage, as opposed to Elphael where you effortless cleave through one mindless splattering of Haligtree Soldiers to the next. Now, I do like the design of Elphael's layout, with it being basically three levels running parallel to each other that you can hop between, and the Avatar with the ONLY TWO HALIGTREE KNIGHTS ON THE ENTIRE MAIN PATH does a decent job of encouraging a player to find a different path, but the problem is there is no flow to the level. It never escalates in challenge, unless you decide to rush the Avatar gank, which is so clearly telegraphed as "the wrong way" that it may as well have flashing lights. The Revenants at the bottom are a simple stealth segment that is fun enough on it's own, but it's just Revenants. Not exactly an enemy that can carry a level by itself. Elphael is the final, secret endgame levels, where they should finally start doing interesting enemy encounters and really push the player to understand the level... and they decide to dedicate a solid seventh of the total play space to a rot river with nothing in it, never mind that it's about a third of the main path. No level design at all going on in that river, never mind enemy configurations. Because interesting enemy configurations runs counter to the ability for players to spam AOE's and stupid damage with weapon arts and magic, so therefore not a single enemy encounter is allowed to be "designed" at all, because Elden Ring prioritizes making the player feel like a god at the expense of good level design.
Fact: when we fight malenia in her second phase cutscene the player looks at miquella's cocoon hinting we might of met him before. only the dlc can tell

Bit of topic, but I find it really interesting that the "Golden Beast Crest Shield" pictures Serosh, and not any other symbol of Godfrey. This kind of repeats in shield symbols, suggesting that the actors are just pieces in something greater. (At lest that's how I see it.) But that particular shield made me wonder who did really control the strings out of the duo?

@@jackeriksen6753 I think in this case it was more a partnership in that Godfrey was a warrior with no mind for politics; that was left to Serosh. That said, Godfrey defeated him in combat and proved he could finish Serosh off if he ever chose to, meaning Serosh only acted in Godfrey's best interest, technically subservient.
There needs to be a DLC continuation of the story where we get to either make our own army as Elden Lord and/or be able to ally ourselves with one or more factions. Imagine having basebuilding elements and taking over areas and maybe even entire regions, fighting alone or side-by-side with your allies.
It always seemed to me less like the soldiers were exploding because they *wanted* to as much as it happened and they had nothing to do with it. That's why it calls it a "bitter revelation" for the soldiers. They didn't know that Miquella leaving would lead to them exploding.

I find it interesting that they word it that lightning is IMBUED with gold implying its not even the dominant force. Maybe the dragons, marika, and miquella show a progression of an era that starts with pure unalloyed gold that eventually all becomes “conjoined” as miriel puts it and the gold adds more and more aspects to itself that it once was gold itself is now only imbued in gold
True dragon lightning is not gold in color, but bright red. It's primordial lightning. Any lightning colored in gold has been tainted by an outside force. And is not as powerful as red lightning. Also known as ancient dragon lightning. Though the ancient dragonbolt pot is a strange exception as that lightning is still gold in color, despite it being stated that it canonically should be red in color.
So wich are the strongest knights as individuals (excluding the OP rot and crucible knights) lore wise? Is it the redmanes or lyndell knights? My personal favourites are the haligtree ones, I just adore the haligtree crest shield.

Only obtainable by 1 Knight. Found in the area at 10:14. You'll find him sitting against the wall, not the one traveling with 2 soldiers. It's a pain to farm but up your discovery and it'll happen!
Considering the sword is based off of Carian Knights' swords and Loretta is an old Carian Knight I think the magic used by Haligtree Knights stem from that. If any faction would use faith *and* science it would defenitely be those of the Haligtree.

Godrick tried to invade the Capital and failed. His army is the one we can see entering the Capital in the elden ring trailer.

They did indeed in the time before the shattering. They were all part of the golden order and shared resources.

What follows is a repeat of the previous fight, but on a narrow street and with the Fire Witch atop a raised balcony, preventing a player from just bursting the witch down. Finally, the street ends with a Duo of Pontiff Knights, a final exam and a test to see if you still remember how to fight them. Afterwards, in the next courtyard, a player sees a Fire Witch, flanked by knights, turn and approach them. If a player hasn't already noped away from that, then they will when they enter and are ambushed by another witch and Pontiff Knight. Instead, this courtyard encourages a player to look around for another path, which there is off to the left, leading to the next bonfire.
That is what I want, an enemy encounter that is deadly, forcing various tactics to account for enemies using the environment to their advantage, as opposed to Elphael where you effortless cleave through one mindless splattering of Haligtree Soldiers to the next. Now, I do like the design of Elphael's layout, with it being basically three levels running parallel to each other that you can hop between, and the Avatar with the ONLY TWO HALIGTREE KNIGHTS ON THE ENTIRE MAIN PATH does a decent job of encouraging a player to find a different path, but the problem is there is no flow to the level. It never escalates in challenge, unless you decide to rush the Avatar gank, which is so clearly telegraphed as "the wrong way" that it may as well have flashing lights. The Revenants at the bottom are a simple stealth segment that is fun enough on it's own, but it's just Revenants. Not exactly an enemy that can carry a level by itself. Elphael is the final, secret endgame levels, where they should finally start doing interesting enemy encounters and really push the player to understand the level... and they decide to dedicate a solid seventh of the total play space to a rot river with nothing in it, never mind that it's about a third of the main path. No level design at all going on in that river, never mind enemy configurations. Because interesting enemy configurations runs counter to the ability for players to spam AOE's and stupid damage with weapon arts and magic, so therefore not a single enemy encounter is allowed to be "designed" at all, because Elden Ring prioritizes making the player feel like a god at the expense of good level design.

Fact: when we fight malenia in her second phase cutscene the player looks at miquella's cocoon hinting we might of met him before. only the dlc can tell

Bit of topic, but I find it really interesting that the "Golden Beast Crest Shield" pictures Serosh, and not any other symbol of Godfrey.
This kind of repeats in shield symbols, suggesting that the actors are just pieces in something greater. (At lest that's how I see it.)
But that particular shield made me wonder who did really control the strings out of the duo?
Mostly Serosh as reagent. But Godfrey had final say.

@@jackeriksen6753 I think in this case it was more a partnership in that Godfrey was a warrior with no mind for politics; that was left to Serosh. That said, Godfrey defeated him in combat and proved he could finish Serosh off if he ever chose to, meaning Serosh only acted in Godfrey's best interest, technically subservient.

There needs to be a DLC continuation of the story where we get to either make our own army as Elden Lord and/or be able to ally ourselves with one or more factions. Imagine having basebuilding elements and taking over areas and maybe even entire regions, fighting alone or side-by-side with your allies.

That would completely change the game's genre from a Fromsoftware title, to For Honor.
It always seemed to me less like the soldiers were exploding because they *wanted* to as much as it happened and they had nothing to do with it. That's why it calls it a "bitter revelation" for the soldiers. They didn't know that Miquella leaving would lead to them exploding.

I find it interesting that they word it that lightning is IMBUED with gold implying its not even the dominant force. Maybe the dragons, marika, and miquella show a progression of an era that starts with pure unalloyed gold that eventually all becomes “conjoined” as miriel puts it and the gold adds more and more aspects to itself that it once was gold itself is now only imbued in gold
True dragon lightning is not gold in color, but bright red. It's primordial lightning. Any lightning colored in gold has been tainted by an outside force. And is not as powerful as red lightning. Also known as ancient dragon lightning. Though the ancient dragonbolt pot is a strange exception as that lightning is still gold in color, despite it being stated that it canonically should be red in color.

Only obtainable by 1 Knight. Found in the area at 10:14. You'll find him sitting against the wall, not the one traveling with 2 soldiers. It's a pain to farm but up your discovery and it'll happen!

So I wonder what the tie in for haligtree knights being able to use magic as well as holy damage.
Considering the sword is based off of Carian Knights' swords and Loretta is an old Carian Knight I think the magic used by Haligtree Knights stem from that.
If any faction would use faith *and* science it would defenitely be those of the Haligtree.
