Tammy, I don't comment much but 4 years ago watched you buy Spirit Forest. I grew up and lived in Colo. for about 30 of my 61 years. Hi Tammy thank you so much for sharing your feelings and thoughts. I think you're father have been so proud of you Tammy. You are amazing and its normal to have thought about everything, when you have taken this big decision to changes your life like this. You are smart that plan to make friends before you move. I think they are lucky that get you as a friend. You are so wonderful person and special. I think its important to have dreams that make us happy. Hugs from Ruth. 😊😊😊😉🙏
Hey kiddo, looking more 'awesomer!' ' with every video! It is normal to question one self with big projects. And yes, having back up is ALWAYS appreciated. Without it life is harder. Self questioning, self doubts all normal. Came to the point made a life choice to live without regrets. When the self questioning drops in, tell it "NOT TODAY" 👍 👍

Tammy we are listening to what your saying about inner thoughts. We all do things in life that make us sit back and really think is this right or wrong. Let me say this, " Tammy you have a family to be proud of, a family that helped you in the decision about grabbing a piece of this earth and calling it Spirit Forrest. " You have apart of Mother nature to take care of and in return it shall take care of you. What a blessing that is! As time goes by you'll realize the beauty of it gets better. Always look forward to watching you in your next video and to what is on your mind. 🤗💚
It is normal to feel how you are feeling. It can be overwhelming at times. But in the end you can say you built your own home. When something goes wrong you will know how to fix it because you know all the outs and ins.
At our lot, the local people organize a curling event in the winter . a bake sale in the summer, Christmas reef making etc. If you have a home owners association in the area, get on their mailing list or website. Its a great way to meet people who made the move to the county for the same reasons. Great video!
Miss Tammy totally understand your kind me i am the everybody if it got messed up i know who did it and if so i just redo it till i get it right we haft to follow our dreams everybody is got a dream so we got to keep on dreaming and yes your dad would be very proud of you so just keep on digging
Ok...you need to stop worrying about the trees....more WILL grow. It’s just about guaranteed. I’m sure Mother Nature will be kind to you and your “hoooome”. You’ve always done right by her 😉...So take a deep breath. It’s gonna be GREAT! And it’s a pleasure to be on this journey with you....even if I’m just here for moral support 👍🏼. You got this 🙃
It can be overwhelming but you are doing great.. it is good to talk with someone when feeling the way you are.. we are here to listen whenever you want to talk.. stay safe..🤗🙏
Just follow your heart! The mind is just checking in with you, crossing. T's and dotting I's. I remember a lot of times where you were so excited about building the cabin and being there. I built a house once and I had those same moments. Worked a lot to make ends meet. But it was worth it! You can already picture it all and some things will have to wait. But it's the path we take that makes it all worthwhile. I understand about wanting a partner to share this journey with, your right. But look at what you have done. Put your energy in that and the rest will follow! 🤗❤️
I totally feel you. I feel the same way about living life as a divorced single mom. I moved to another country with my kids and sometimes I feel lonely too. But I know there is a plan for all of us. Thank you for sharing your authenticity with us. Hugs from Spain. 💜
Hi Tammy, ya I can see what you mean about your commitment. Your second guessing your self and that's okay it comes with change. Your also planning on you future and it all sounds good. As an artist right now your land is your canvas and Spirit Forest is art work. So thanks for including us in your life. Take care.
Ok Big Girl Pants time. you made a decision to go forward with the cabin. And going forward and making changes to better your life and happiness are never a bad thing . And your dad would be proud of you! so keep a clear and good attitude. always be proud of your accomplishment's big or small. you will be happy in your mountain home. its you. your kids will enjoy this cabin also. Yours is the spirit in spirit forest !! And it needs to be a happy spirit.
With change comes anxiety coupled with the fallacy of regret. Only until change has fully manifested do we relax and take it all in. The issue isn’t when anxiety and regret is present; but when we allow it to dictate our forward progression; petrifying us frozen and defeated. What you feel is TOTALLY NORMAL; however; you progressing through it is TOTALLY COURAGEOUS. Don’t be so hard on yourself..... ❤️
Hello Friend! Greetings from BC, Canada. Like you, we are building in the back country, we survived over three years living in a travel trailer in a forest, up a mountain. We are much older than you and friends thought we were insane. Despite being fairly wise and grounded people we have faced a lot of challenges, not the least, financial. Living in a travel trailer with temperatures down to -36C and four feet of snow, strong winds and occasional monsoon-like rain is life in the raw! There have been several occasions where we have regretted embarking on such a project and have been overcome by self-doubt, but I think the beautiful location and the purity of experience has strengthened our resolve and commitment. There are two of us, which is good sometimes, but not on other. If I were on my own I would have had less anxiety and sense of responsibility when times got tough. We lived without running water and sanitation for 3 years and that was hard in our 4 month winters. I have done a lot of the heavy, labouring work and sustained a few injuries along the way, but I have grown from the experience and feel very resilient. I am pleased to say we are in the (unfinished) log house and hope we get it close to finished by next winter, cash permitting. You are brave to do what you are doing, but as you say, no point in having dreams if they are un fulfilled, huge respect for you, take care, Chris.
Yes! Your Dad would be proud of you! I think I mentioned my 7 year old daughter watches some of your videos with me. I want her to grow up and have the ability to be independent. If she shares it with someone well of course that’s fine too. But to have the courage to live her dream without dependence on any one if that’s the path she finds herself on. It’s the very same lesson your teaching your girls just by doing. When it comes to fears I love this saying. When fear knocked on my door I let faith answer it and there was no one there!
Forty years ago, I gave up going to law school, to become a karate teacher. There were no other female karate teachers, but I knew I had to do what made me happy. In spite of the hardships, I would do it all over again. You will be fine. How exciting!!!
Follow your dream Tammy, life is to short. I failed on chasing mine and now at 61 my health is starting to fail. It seems to me you are a fighter and you can win this battle as well. You have an opportunity to get away from the rat race in the city and live in your new beautiful place.
I signed the papers on my home at age 53 and two weeks following a double bypass. It's nine years later and it's fine. You are going to be happy you did it!
Up River no problem ma'am I looked at your page and see that you like quilting I own a Upholstery shop in east Texas and my wife was going through some of my sample books that have been dropped and she was going to toss them in the trash and I said nooo I give them to women that make quilts lol sorry I babble
Having a partner has two sides, yes there is some sharing but there's also compromise and differing opinions. You are doing an amazing job and when it's complete and you are living your dream, it'll all be worth it! We see the joy in your face every time you are at Spirit Forest. Nervous is good, it keeps you sharp. Accomplishing part of your dream (ie not 30 acres) is more than many ever do, good for you!
Just focus on making it awesome. If your dream changes, you sell it and someone gets a beautiful place. If it doesn’t you enjoy it for years to come! It’s all good!
Absolutely human feelings. We have purchased 3 different properties and we went through the same feelings with each property. Now we are going for a 4th property in AZ. Living in the desert does not really settle with me but it will something completely different and living it big on the Colorado river. I wish I was doing what your doing but instead I'll be riding a jet ski up and down the river. It really is difficult seeing the finished product when there is nothing but cement foundation but in time it will be done.
Just started watching your channel. You're are such a huge inspiration for me. We all have doubts and face adversity. Its part of life, there is no way around it. But the path we chose to walk on is what will define who we are in the end. From the little I've seen you're incredibly strong, brave and resilient. You should be proud no matter what! Love your videos. :)
Always listen to your gut ! You are doing great and Very Inspiring . Yes sure your Dad is smiling down with a mountain size of Pride ! Keep up the great work ..
We live in Chicago but spend 3 winter months in Manhattan Beach. When we leave our home to come west, we just keep the heat about 60 degrees. We have no plumbing up against outside walls. Have been doing this for about 10 years and have never had a pipe issue while gone. There have been periods of time, including this year, when outside temps have been below zero for a couple weeks and normal winter temps in the 20's and 30's. Keep the heat on while you are gone and you should be good. Great music on this edition of life with the Viking girl.
Covid was all the incentive I needed to take early retirement last March. Life off the hamster wheel ain't bad! John Lennon had it right when he said "I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round, I love to watch them roll". Sure, there will be things you still want to do but you might be surprised how little you really need to be happy once you get the basic structure finished off. I lived in my cabin with nothing done inside while I was building it! Every morning I'd awaken and dream about "when it's finished I can do this and this". It's positive incentive to keep moving forward. Your getting there.
Enjoy your jouney, one day at a time, when all is said and done you will know you made to right move..I too starting over alone after 32 years of marriage, divorce is so hard to overcome, being alone again and starting over is scary! But you are strong, you got this tammy! Good luck! Just know being a female facing the world is difficult, but we get stronger for each new step we take..
Property and buildings are an investment. If some life event happens or you change your mind you can sell with profit. If you keep it look at all the benefits that add to your happiness and sanity! It's a win win. You are fortunate and blessed that you can do this.
think of it this way.. On your own (including your daughters).. you are doing something different.. sure.. resonating the ideas in your mind is the way to go forward..cause only you can do that...partner..well that times not the present..so keep on going.. keep on bucking yourself up..you know why.. cause looking at your vlogs.. i'd say am definately learning something more that what i was taught.. you're teaching your experiences.. (in a way) to all of us...One day ..soon..soon...you'd reach there (at the end of your rainbow) and then you can look back to this moment (its on video).. and you'd say.. wow..did i say that.. Stay safe.. keep on talking.. GOD BLESS YOU.
I m sorry about you feeling down, we all get this moment of doubt, it means that you care a lot what you are doing. I hope now you don't feel the same way, but if you still do just remind yourself why you are doing it as many time you need. You took a big step cause you knew it was wjat you really want and the universe show you that it s time, be confident on this path. Take care i will still watching you 🙂.
You're just looking at dirt & cold concrete, just look forward to putting your finishing touches on it. It'll go in stages up & down. Then imagine your first night after it's done when you top off your wood stove, turn down the lights & laydown in your bed & you'll think back & laugh at this! Peace!
Hi I've followed you on and off for a while , some dreams aren't what we imagine in reality but you've spent a lot of time living yours on your land testing it out. You clearly love being there. Making a big financial commitment is scary but the direction isn't and the benefits are huge ! At least you're not trying to convince a partner. Good luck and be kind to yourself,
I am going through something similar. It is something I have wanted for a very long time. During the process of purchasing a membership to a specific lot in a large private campground and then a brand new travel trailer to put on that lot, it has been a time of emotional roller coaster. Although I have grown sons and some good friends and other family, It was still my decision in my own. They have been full of advice about what I needed and sometimes it conflicted and sometimes not necessary because the trailer would be stationary. I had thoughts of spending my money selfishly. I wondered if my parents would have agreed. Yes, I understand. And like me, you plan on inviting others to participate in the enjoyment when it’s done.
Hi Tammy it's only natural we all get such moments only natural. You will have a great place when it's finished.Stay possitive you are the Captain of your own Ship.Sharing such a Dream with some one,may always work out. This way you have total control.I have Done some thing similar smaller way.To make progress takes money other wise It remains a Dream
One thing you so have to remember if you are not going to be living there fulltime is when about to leave turn your water off at the meter and drain the lines. You will also have to hire someone to make sure the electricity is turned on and the walls and floor kept clean and no moisture built up in the home as that can affect the life of the building. Mold will accumulate if the place isn't lived in fulltime and that has happened to many homes in the Mid-West and East Coast and even some on the West Coast also. That is the main thing you have to worry about with a home as it is expensive to keep up a home not lived in full time.
I know how you feel, I am making plans to move out of state...I am planning to buy land, put a tiny home on it....I am about to be 70, by myself and sometimes I think what the hell am I doing? Am I crazy? But I have that desire that will not go away to be in the country near the mountains. So I feel you about those crazy times when you wonder what are you doing? 😱 we will get through this and be so happy we did.
Just trust your gut feelings!! We have probably all been there at least once in our lives..awe girl I do understand about having a partner to talk to.. But you are so independent and you got this!!!
It’s an overwhelming experience. You’ll get through it, stay strong to your Viking background. As an Architect and General Contractor I’ve had owners go through these same feelings. Your followers spirit will pull you through. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tammy dear, once your cabin is finished and you are all moved in, you'll wonder why you had doubts. It will be fine. I can see you now standing in your cabin with a big smile on your face as you look around saying, "I did it! " It will be a proud moment for sure.
Whenever I backpack solo I think to myself as I step on the trail, what am I doing? But then after my journey I look back and wonder why I had those thoughts. I mean, I live in the Midwest and get dropped off in the middle of Colorado by myself! I always, always come out just a little bit stronger. I know it’s not the same thing, but I can almost guarantee you will look back and wonder why the heck you had any doubt. Take one day at a time enjoy the ride!
It comes down to understanding yourself. You've allowed yourself the space to try something new. Creation is a lonely business -- so yes, you yearn for understanding from others. You have set a great test for yourself and there you are, on the field struggling and in the stands in breathless anticipation. Why should i tell you what you already know? Just to say -- i understand.
What a great video Tammy. It is in our nature to have second thoughts, it does not mean we want to quit. I have been alone now for 23 years, having the kids helps but it is not the same as having a partner/ companion to share with. Continue with your journey Tammy and we will follow along giving you the encouragement and shoulder to lean on when and if needed. I know for a fact that being able to have you to "talk to" makes times for me much better, keep, as the Brits say, a stiff upper lip and push on. Hoping that things change enough that I can get down to take you out for a coffee this summer. Take care, and be safe.
building a house is daunting. I did all on my own for 11 years and know how you feel. there are definitely scary places. Feel the hug I am sending you. Feel a friends arms around you telling you , breath, you know it's what you want. You are just having setbacks and they are so disheartening. We are there for you.
We can be scared and not brave but we can’t be brave and not scared. So don’t be thrown if moving forward feels a little scary; it’s simply an affirmation that progress is underway!

I have the same thing going on left Indiana went to Kentucky went to West Virginia went to Tennessee back to Kentucky on Monday I'm going to Arkansas then go see my sister in Arizona doing the right thing seeing all this stuff all by myself sometimes it's just so sad you never know what's around the corner still very lonely
It is the feeling of being overwhelmed by change and decisions in your life you know nothing you do is always going to be a sure thing you have to go with it and make the best of it.
Change is scary, risk is scary..... the nanny state is trying to promise that life can be had without risk, we know that's a lie. I promise, any father would be proud of of your drive and your spirit!
Look to this day, for it is life, the very breath of life. In its brief course lie all the realities of your existence; the bliss of growth, the glory of action, the splendor of beauty. For yesterday is only a dream, and tomorrow is but a vision. But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well, therefore, to this day.
Stand in your female power. your a soul living a female human experience. You dont need a man to tell you whether its right. Allyou need to do is listen to your inner voice. only sad thing is the tree lives that have been killed looks like a lot. dont live in regret. you know what you want, your doing it. your doing great girl. standin your wild woman power. your dream home is coming true and be safer too from bear attacks. i have much admiration for you im a wild woman too. i stand in my own power. i define me like you define you. your girls shouldbe so proud of you your an amazing mama and role model for your kids

I believe you are doing the right thing. Only you truly know. This is be a beautiful place for your cabin.
Good morning Tammy!
Good morning Tammy belief in the spirit of Viking♥️
Thank you very very much for sharing your life and dreams with us
It's my pleasure
Forty years ago, I gave up going to law school, to become a karate teacher. There were no other female karate teachers, but I knew I had to do what made me happy. In spite of the hardships, I would do it all over again. You will be fine. How exciting!!!
Follow your dream Tammy, life is to short. I failed on chasing mine and now at 61 my health is starting to fail. It seems to me you are a fighter and you can win this battle as well. You have an opportunity to get away from the rat race in the city and live in your new beautiful place.
Tammy you got this my friend your a strong woman and I have faith in you. I know you can do this. God bless love you my friend
So happy for you Tammy!! You finally getting closer to dream!!
HAY YOU ARE DOING THING THE PLACE MAKES YOU HAPPY
All will be well..you are such a genuine person! We're with ya! Carry on!! ❤
I am a great grand father, proud,,,,, yup.
I signed the papers on my home at age 53 and two weeks following a double bypass. It's nine years later and it's fine. You are going to be happy you did it!
Glad you are doing better
wow.. that is great. Thank you!
@@rockyreynolds4027 Thank you. That was a kind word I appreciared.
Up River no problem ma'am I looked at your page and see that you like quilting I own a Upholstery shop in east Texas and my wife was going through some of my sample books that have been dropped and she was going to toss them in the trash and I said nooo I give them to women that make quilts lol sorry I babble
Thanks for sharing / I know the cabin will be beautiful, ( Can"t wait for a fire video / with marshmallows hahahha
It really is difficult seeing the finished product when there is nothing but cement foundation but in time it will be done.
i thank ur great , and at times like this just look up god is with ya talk to him be blessed
great wiking hoodie
I’m so excited to see how your cabin turns out. I can imagine how scary it is, but you should be proud ❤️
Always listen to your gut !
You are doing great and Very Inspiring .
Yes sure your Dad is smiling down with a mountain size of Pride !
Keep up the great work ..
Thanks so much
@@SpiritForest You are welcome . Thank you for the inspiration
Having someone there doesn't always make things easier and doesn't always make you feel less alone. You've got this! Your awesome!
Good point for sure my friend
Whoa well done your gonna hit the big time glory to God for this.
Thank you Robert! Yeah, think I will need to keep that heat on year around.
Hire me too house sit your cabin for you during the time you are gone for those months. Just a suggestion. And I am serious.
Thank you.. and you are right..
Loneliness makes life much harder...XO...Thank you for being real. feel free to bounce stuff off of us all...
You r! U r building ur life!!!!
You've come a long way since that first video of buying your land and walking through it hang in there Tammy.
Property and buildings are an investment. If some life event happens or you change your mind you can sell with profit. If you keep it look at all the benefits that add to your happiness and sanity! It's a win win. You are fortunate and blessed that you can do this.
I like that.. I tell myself that too. Was nice to see you write that. Trust me.. it made me feel better. Thank you!!
yup, no regrets.
think of it this way..
Good luck and be kind to yourself,
I am fairly certain that your dad would be proud of you for MANY things, your strength, your sense of humor, the way you are raising your children.
Aww.. thank you Rebecca!
Thanks for including us with your adventure, it's good to talk things out loud when you're alone sometimes so just keep talking we're listening.
Thank you.. it felt good to get that part out.
You absolutely need to get the lumber package NOW. Don't wait on the price of lumber to go down.
With or without the cabin et al if I was your dad I'd be proud of you.
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, it is a scary time to make big decisions. Looks like you have a big adventure ahead of you! Love IT!!!
Just trust your gut feelings!! We have probably all been there at least once in our lives..awe girl I do understand about having a partner to talk to.. But you are so independent and you got this!!!
I just know you’re going to love it. Thank you for sharing.
I love it! Even if only a pit. lol
It’s an overwhelming experience. You’ll get through it, stay strong to your Viking background. As an Architect and General Contractor I’ve had owners go through these same feelings. Your followers spirit will pull you through. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Oh good to know I am not alone.
Yes Live your dream. Stay confident, we all have doubts sometimes. Hang in there. It will be wonderful.
Thank you Karen..
Tammy dear, once your cabin is finished and you are all moved in, you'll wonder why you had doubts. It will be fine. I can see you now standing in your cabin with a big smile on your face as you look around saying, "I did it! " It will be a proud moment for sure.
Yes, most of us want to have some control. Let go girl. Enjoy your journey. Will be beautiful!
💯
Tara .. you must write a book. Your words are beautiful.
Thank you John!! As always I appreciate your support.
building a house is daunting. I did all on my own for 11 years and know how you feel. there are definitely scary places. Feel the hug I am sending you. Feel a friends arms around you telling you , breath, you know it's what you want. You are just having setbacks and they are so disheartening. We are there for you.
aww.. thank you Janet. You always have such nice comments. Made my day.
We can be scared and not brave but we can’t be brave and not scared. So don’t be thrown if moving forward feels a little scary; it’s simply an affirmation that progress is underway!

When that house is done the whole area will be beautiful. It will take a while but the ugly stuff will go away.
We all have our quiet place. Mine is an island in the South Pacific. Away from crowds, noise and nonsense. Like you I desire to have a partner.
Change is scary, risk is scary..... the nanny state is trying to promise that life can be had without risk, we know that's a lie.
I promise, any father would be proud of of your drive and your spirit!
Look to this day,
for it is life, the very breath of life.
In its brief course lie all the realities of your existence;
the bliss of growth,
the glory of action,
the splendor of beauty.
For yesterday is only a dream,
and tomorrow is but a vision.
But today, well lived,
makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
stuff will grow back.
