Beautiful. Loving how your girls are working for you and building up and lots of coverage on your frames. Excellent.
thank you 👊
Learned a lot. Thanks
I have my lids insulated and only one entrance at the bottom of the hive and the insulation keeps the heat off the top box in the summer and in the winter it protects against the outside temp changing the inside temp causing condensation and not venting the top keeps the queens out of my supers and I don’t have to use a queen excluder, I’ve been keeping bees for over 50 years and I used to vent the tops like crazy but when I started thinking of how a bee keeps the brood safe in a tree ,?they only use one entrance down low and the thick wood of the tree acts like insulation and keeps condensation from building up , also I’ve been having better luck with one brood box because in the winter if bees die off and the population dwindles then it’s harder for the bees to control the bigger space of two boxes , it took me a while to get it but if you try it you might just see the difference and how it’s easier for the bees to maintain their temp
I would smoke or shake the bees off before I scrape the burr comb off.
thanks 😎
As a newbee I would like to know how long the bees were in the box’s. As I basically self teach myself knowing that would be helpful to compare my progress to. Thanks
Thanks
I did the holes with screen on my supers and the bees covered it all up. I guess the ventilation engineers didnt like it.
That' happened to a friend of mine also
I also made holes for extra ventilation in my supers....I live in a sub tropical area..kzn.. south Africa..not closed .....will wait and see
How hot do u shingled top get, looks like too hot summer and good in the winter
not bad plus i have insulation inside the roof to help keep it cool
Where’s the vid on how to build your vent sections?
Look in the building playlist should be there
