- In this series, I will be covering all the work required to restore a nineteenth-century bracket clock. This is part 2 where I dismantle the movement to see how bad the condition really is.

Good tip about the gathering pallet removal, logical, but I hadn't thought of doing it that way!
Much better than risking bending or breaking the square.

Good video Tommy, nice comment about the hole between the teeth of the fusee...to release the click, something I was unaware of, and I may have not spotted in the past. 👍
Use with extreme caution! Not all clocks have it, but most quality clocks of this period do.

Hi Tommy, love your videos very informative and its lovely to see a master clockmaker at work, i have a Ollie Baker winder do you mind if i ask you where you got that size capture barrel from, i am having trouble getting hold of one that is larger then the one that came with the Ollie Baker, or did you make it your self.Thanks

Godd video, i dont know if you made a video already about it but what you use to clean brass wheels in the clock to make them look clean&shiny again

Hi Paul, It's a good idea to be looking at a service after around five years. That way i's an 'engine oil service' and not an 'engine rebuild'. This one had been left so long it had punched a piston out of the side of the block!
Hope you’ve been keeping busy over the last 18 months or so I’ve retired because of it just finishing clocks that I’ve been making over the last 30 years, anyway “ Great Job Son “……..

@@TommyJobson Thanks so much for those kind words. i’ve been really lucky to have worked on some of the best makers over the years & i guess some of that must have rubbed off i do sometimes look at them and wonder how i did them ( especially the lantern engraving, who do u use 4 hand engraving these days? ) so really must crack on & finish them.

I certainly do. I have worked on a lot of the same clocks as him over the years, they are usually accompanied with several sides of A4 handwritten notes!
