    “There’s nothing to put the deer here…over 50 yards from here.” What an excellent point put in such a simple way. Constantly asking that question could change your whole season for the good. Great video!

    That super thick area reminds me of a spot I’ve found, small ridge runs through a middle of a wood lot, and it’s very thick, with only one primary trail, and I’ve found a couple beds where the edge of thick meets the ridge, little caves almost, with rubs right in the beds. The problem is getting to the spot without bumping deer and the right wind. It’s in ag country, so there’s potential to set up on the field edge where there’s an exit trail. But don’t know it that would be the most successful point of attack. Love this content, has me thinking, where’s the next spot?!

    GM Dan. I believe what you found on the oak stand is a paracord preset. This is a technique used by the saddle climbers to get their (expensive) climbing rope up and over the crotch branch, to ascend/descend the tree via rope climbing. (SRT or DRT) A preset eliminates having to use a throwball to get a line over the crotch while you are actually coming in to hunt. I may be wrong with those loops though. That part is strange... 😮

    I came across an area with little too no rubs,but my cams showed at least two mature bucks in that area all year long.

    • @Brian-dh9lp
      @Brian-dh9lp 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Curious, with little to no sign, how did you decide to put your cams in that spot?

    • @thehuntingbeast
      @thehuntingbeast  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The rubs don't have to be where the deer is bedding or in a specific area you intend to hunt. But... All bucks rub trees, so there should be some around somewhere in the area.

    • @DETERWEBER
      @DETERWEBER 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Brian-dh9lp like dan replied all the rubs and scrapes started outside of the bedding area,which I did not mention at first.But originally I put them there because it was such a great looking spot.I was really just curious.

    I couldn't sleep. So I watched this video of yours, I didn't complete. Then hit me, like a ton of bricks. You're the dominant buck. Wow. Am I the first. To see that. I doubt. So obvious now. Reckon we all need a subordinate. Nothing wrong with it. But I never noticed it before. I reckon I wasn't studying hard enough. Not meaning to be an ass. Just realization. Definitely not meaning it to be a bad thing. Hope it isn't taking like that. Thanks again, for the lesson.

    I used to go back that far, before they screwed us with the quad rules. I only used the quad to help bring it out. Don't know about you, but the deer back that far, acted completely different. Because they weren't seeing as many hunters, if any. I felt, who knows for sure. Just my observation. Different state of mind for hunter/animal! Haha. Miss it.

    I hear You say that a trail has to be wide enough for a buck to fit his rack. I've noticed that big bucks usually walk with their head down, when they are in thick stuff. Sometimes there's a tunnel almost. When they come out of that kind of area, they always stop and look around.
