I found some oyster shells, pontiled footed shot glasses in a pre 1894, by frags spot in Kakaako. C1980 a parking lot was put there. It was good digging, but 1980s diggers were already there. I found a lot of typical Western shapes, but everything specifically Hawaiian was broken.

I can't believe how beautiful that spittoon is Ned. And the bottles their colors are so bold especially the teal one. Did you keep the pickle shard? That was an amazing pictorial, too bad it wasn't full. Was it English? Can you tell me the exact name of brand and if all possible who were the makers? I would like to do some research on it. I sure am glad I found your channel and your expertise is amazing. What books would you recommend me to become more knowledgeable? I find it so very interesting. I thought the same thing about that pickle shard Debra. It was awesome. Would love to have it in my collection. I recently dug my first straight sided Coke and then on January 1st dug my first Hutch soda plus 6 other bottles 1 being a 1901 Empire milk and a amber capudine medicine, all out of the same dump. Man I love digging bottles. Great snipe job on that first bottle at Crick Diggers auction Saturday. Stay safe
Fairly new to bottle hunting and wondered if there is something to the hollow pipe handles on the probes you use. Does it make the sound resonate or something like that? I bought a cheap probe but it has a solid handle, did I waste my money?
Hey Ned, loving the vids! I dug up some hutches with original contents out of thick river muck. They are entirely sealed, never opened. I'm wondering if I should do something similar and apply some glue or maybe wax to the top so that the rubber won't oxidize and shrink/disintegrate? What are your thoughts? I dug them about a year ago and none of them appear to have any signs of leakage or evaporation. All are still nicely full of soda.
I dug a hutch in the mud one time and The rubber gasket is still sealed and hasn’t shrunk! So if it hasn’t done anything weird by now I’d say leave it !

Upon editing this I realize that shard is still w the property owner and we forgot about it in the chaos ! I read out all it said in the video I think

Yes hollow handle sounds good you can tell if it's ash gravel or glass
