You know what, I'm just glad Joe's keeping up the whole shred thing instead of picking up an 8 string guitar and going 'djent'. The best guitarists in the world are passionate about what they do - don't matter if they're such-and-such-clones, as long as they show love for their kind of music, they're always gonna be good in my books.
Do keep in mind, however, Joe does still like those guys. He loves a lot of modern djent and prog and instrumental metal stuff. he just plays this style cause that's what he loves the most.
I don't think theres a whole lot of bands picking up an 8 string to 'djent'. maybe a 7 string, dropped. incorporating an 8 string into your playing isnt easy. I'm sure a lot of heavier bands, use the 8 for the low end, or a 9 like Darko US. But I don't think they're actually utilizing the 8 string. But what's funny is, 8 string acoustics.. are an irish instrument. It doesnt have to be restricted to playing one style of music. Its just what a lot of people are using them for, over time we'll see a lot of creative music come out of the 8 string, and it wont just be 'djent'. I have an 8 and I rarely write anything that sounds like the stereotypical djent. I like the fullness the 8th string adds to my chords and then just having the option to that all these notes at my disposal without having to drop down. I can leave everything in tune, still have my low E, and B, and an E. When i went into a guitar store for the first time in 2 years since owning my 8, I looked at the rack of 6 strings.. and they literally like toys or mini guitars. 8's are nuts. I'll probably bare minimum only buy a 7, possibly a 6 just for solos.
got a cassette of joe stumps music back in early 90s. had to work that night. man, great music kept that cassette going most the night. Hail the Heavy!!
Because Yngwie doesn't use the same licks and phrases as Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth. He has his own unique approach. Yngwie took what Uli and Blackmore started and brought it to a new level. Btw... those aren't bad inspirations to have. But make no mistake, Yngwie is Yngwie, and he has his own signature sound and technique. He has clearly distinguished himself from Uli and Blackmore.
I could watch this for the whole day.....too many shredders out there, but just a handful of people with great music and balls-to-the-wall sound and attitude!
One of Joe's best! His picking hand is 60% Ritchie and 40% Yngwie IMHO and his vibrato is maybe 90% Ritchie and some 10% Yngwie, IMHO... I'm not an expert, just saying, don't start a flame war! ;-)
Great playing by Joe, but I wonder if it's some kind of tribute to Ritche Blackmore. At some points I'd swear I was listening to Rainbow's "Gates of Babylon".
This guy is one of the very few players out there that plays fast and actually writes nice riffs and melodies, he is great... MAB and Impelliteri are disgusting...
Years ago I thought Yngwie could never be bettered - sadly he hasn't really improved. There are so many guitar players who can do Yngwie and better. I still rate him though. A master forever.
If you have gigs, and gigs are good, there's recordings of it on youtube, as is Joe's here and he obviously didn't make it himself. I see none of your gigs. Why is that?
Bucket Head ruined all guitar players for me no one living or dead can match his technical ability not even Paul Gilbert his teacher or the master Al Di Meola
Justin Fredricks I agree it leaves me cold just so derivative. Heard it all before. He has got the chops but i'm 35 and have played for 21 years shiny bright lights don't amuse me anymore lol
Thanks Its good that other people agree, he just doesnt have that spark that originals have and even then I love yngwie but I couldnt listen to it ALL day.

Thanks for sharing. Joe is incredible!
Great playing Joe. Clean and smooth. Great phrasing! Makes me want to see and hear more, very inspiring..!
n/,,
Torrid Chainsaw key word "phrasing" a lost art amongst the millenial "shredders" playing in Core and Djent bands today....
absolutely great! thanks for the incredible music, I am truly enjoying the lessons on arpeggios. good luck in the future.
this owned so much, thanks for recording this! gonna go see joe on august 6th hopfully.
Notice the Blackmore, "Gates Of Babylon" style phrases starting at the 6:40 mark. :)
Way to go man! Great playin!
this deserves a LOT more views!!!!!
Awesome ! phrygian mode , i love !
Best of JOES chops. WOW

of all great gruitar players out there, Joe is the best fucking one, lots of techniques and fucking real heavy metal
Awesome
Joe slays!
very precise and unique picking!
I could watch this for the whole day.....too many shredders out there, but just a handful of people with great music and balls-to-the-wall sound and attitude!
Yngwie and ritchie on the same stage what a dream scene
Hey I'm not hatin', I'm lovin'. First time ever listening to Joe. Sounds cool. And I am a gigging musician, with Utube video's.
Sounds good. Uli Roth feel for sure
One of Joe's best!

@ 8:04 woooow!
Yeahh
If you guys are going to bitch about Joe being an Yngwie clone, then why don't you also bitch about Yngwie being a Blackmore /Uli Roth clone?
Great playing by Joe, but I wonder if it's some kind of tribute to Ritche Blackmore. At some points I'd swear I was listening to Rainbow's "Gates of Babylon".
wow
wow lightining fast!!!
Outstanding guitarist. Listen to Tortured Soul and the Beacon - guitar doesn't come much better than those tracks - even from Paul Gilbert !
Why don't you provide a link to a video showing your creativity and originality, since you are an expert on the subject?
Like!!
👍😁🎵🎸
Invisible drummer.
8:05 is sick!!!!!!!!! lol
This guy is one of the very few players out there that plays fast and actually writes nice riffs and melodies, he is great...
MAB and Impelliteri are disgusting...

awesome, the guitar would look even better with a floyd on it
Which Sam Ash was this ????
What Yngwie song is this?
Well, let's see some video of you playing...
Which Sam Ash was this?!!!
Thats y the title have a ......" An Original Ode To The Rainbow Classic " GATES OF BABYLON"
I think there's no way to play better them him!!!!
LIKE A DRUG !!
He plays much like Malmsteen...so what. Great music anyway. Relax and enjoy.
I am sure that many more players would play like that if they could.
Great technique, awesome. But he sounds just like Malmsteen almost in every respect. Even his scale sequences and note groupings are the same.
tHIS IS A COMPLETE COPY OF MALMSTEEN'S SONG, " tREASURE OF THE EAST"
Gotta change out that cheap ass guitar switch Joe.....4:03. I recommend using a Dimarzio or CRL brother! No need to thank me....it's not necessary....
Check out Panos Arvanitis... Greek shredder.
2nd best guitar player ever next to Matthew Mills (Joe Stump's Student) check him out
You have good and bad impersonators.I bet he has a Picture of April Malmsteen in his Wallet. Get a life and be yourself, be original!
Bucket Head ruined all guitar players for me no one living or dead can match his technical ability not even Paul Gilbert his teacher or the master
Al Di Meola
Cool. He HECHO'S Malmsteen. Doesn't really sound like ANY ONE ELSE.
A "Knock Off"
It's a joke my friend!Relax! He s a good player, but original? Come on!
joe's a good player and all this just sounds really boring
maybe its because Im really used to the middle eastern sounding scale....I watched the video again, and still had the same feeling.
Justin Fredricks I agree it leaves me cold just so derivative. Heard it all before. He has got the chops but i'm 35 and have played for 21 years shiny bright lights don't amuse me anymore lol

yeah even Malmsteen gets tedious after a while
michael88863
But with that said... doesn't everybody get tedious after awhile?
clone
Too much shredding these days! I'm getting seasick!🤢
I like Joe Satriani Better, hehehe
Talented player, but the rhythm track is monotonous.
