They just *did* reunite! This is a live show from Sep 2018r, and they *have* recorded since, re-making old songs and recording a Fad Gadget cover version for a limited edition e.p.. Also, they are either talking about - or already working - on further material (as revealed by Marc Almond at the premiere screening of the official DVD of this concert.

I saw on Instagram that he was going to perform and I did purchase my ticket even if I was unemployed , close to broke but I managed to borrow money from my younger sister to pay for my flight from Calgary , Canada . Their farewell show came too soon . Sometimes big names in the music industry are splitting and do their farewell show but sometimes they just can't resist stepping back on stage for another farewell . I'll be in L.A. again October 27th . I'm still somewhat broke but Soft Cell is part of my genetic . It's a magnet . I can't resist . Saw them in Montreal in the mid 80's when they released their album " The Art of Falling Apart " . Such a rush then also . Thanks a lot Simon for posting . I really shed tears when I saw your clip of Memorabilia . OMG !
They are indeed writing new tracks for a Soft Cell album. Working remotely, but both in London, and sending music back and forth between their respective studios

I LITERALLY FELT IN LOVE WITH MUSIC AS IT WAS A GIFT FROM MY MOTHER WITH MY VERY FIRST " WALKMAN " , I WAS 8 YEARS OLD AND , AS I DIDN'T KNOW ANY ARTIST, I ASKED TO THE MUSIC SHOP'S " BOSS " TO HELP ME TO CHOOSE SOMETHING GREAT AMONG ALL THE STEREO K7 ... HE IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME : "SOFT CELL FIRST ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE" , THEN I LISTENED JUST 2 SONGS AND I REMEMBER MY FEELING : IT WAS MAGICAL ! AND STILL TODAY, I LOVE ALL SOFT CELL SONGS AND WILL PROBABLY LOVE THEM FOREVER !!!
That almost drowsy sounding trumpet creates the kind of seedy feel to the song. I've noticed a slight change to the original line "you are a fool for me to be cruel" to "I am a fool for you to be cruel", which is a more accurate way round, but somehow the line works better the original way, regardless of being technically wrong....who cares though! I love playing along to this with a good keyboard trumpet sound. Over 40 years i'd say I can get it pretty close to the original.
@JOSEPH LONSDALE musicians 10, 20 years older than (Manfred Mann, Ringo Starr, Macca, Graham Bonnet etc) him can hit the stage with great power, he is sitting like some 80s years old.
