THANK YOU FRITZ!! Very ironic, however. I "bought a new one" from AMZ, and it was not in a box, but in a bag. It was a RETURN, just as you cautioned about. The adhesive on the mount was "exposed," so no good, and the pad that mounts to the phone was missing! Fortunately, AMZ are champs, and I just got the replacement, in 24 hours, that is NEW-in-BOX, and undisturbed. YOU ARE VERY HELPFUL!! Please don't ever sell your M235i, and keep the tips and tricks coming!
i really want to find a phone holder that will fix onto the screen for the idrive system because i would only use the phone instead of the idrive system anyway once it was in place
I had *** criteria for when i was choosing my phone mount in my F20: 1. Steady, no wobble. 2. Doesnt get in the way of vents or buttons. 3. Wireless charger, coz i hate having to work the cables when i want to charge. 4. Cable managed 5. No sticky stuff on my dashboard or windshield. Thats why i opted for a wireless charger phone mount that goes on the cupholder.
@@Keepitwarmer i chose a phone mount that goes in the cupholder that has an extendable neck with wireless charging. It unfortunately sits a little low on my dashboard so i really have to look a bit lower to check it from time to time but its a worthy compromise and it makes up for by being very stable and doesnt leave any stains behind from being mounted on. It also keeps my air vents unobstructed and is also easily cable managed as the lighter plug is literally next to it. Perfect option for me.
Ordered and installed without issue. Looks good. Day 1 everything was fine. Day 2 the mount and phone went flying off coming home from work. Day 3 reinstalled. Everything was fine going to work but flew off on the way home. Any suggestions or should I just return it?
@@tommusser6682 hmm.. its always been sturdy with mine. Any chance either your journey to work involves extremely bumpy or zigzagged roads or you like to occasionally do drifts? Honestly mine has never fallen off.
Part 2: Well, I'm back, and this didn't work for me. It's on its way back to AMZ. I very carefully followed the instructions, and used the alcohol wipe to thoroughly prepare the mounting surface. I even went out to the garage once an hour to push-push-push the mount, to make certain the pressure-sensitive adhesive was encouraged to bite. Drove today, and in about 15 minutes, as I had to brake a bit abruptly, the phone went flying. I didn't realize it at first, since I was driving, but the mount separated from the dashboard. No issue with the magnetic attachment from phone to base. That wound up on the passenger floor, still attached. So, I was done, and it's too bad, because it's a handsome, simple unit. Oh, and I did have some issues with the metal piece interfering with my Samsung Qi inductive charger last night. It took a bit of fiddling to get the phone positioned for the charger to remain linked. The phone is an iPhone 8S.

I’m always hesitant to buy a stick-on phone mount, what happens when you want to remove the mount for any reason? Is there going to be impossible to remove glue residue? Would it ruin the gloss finish on the trim somehow? I dunno. But does that seem like an otherwise perfect mount? Yes…
If you plan to remove it I would do it after the cars been sitting in the sun for a bit. The edge may trap some dust and require a bit of cleaning, but I've used 3M tape in the interior for other applications and have had no issues.
I stick mine on the wood grain(carbon fibre for u) on the passenger side beside the radio console. I have an f30. I tried the matte finish where your dad installed his but it kept falling off
That's gonna take off the dashboard due to the poor sticky power of that option. I tried similar and didn't work for me. It won't resist the phone's weight. It'll take off. Sorry to advice this for you
@@FritzRamoswell, if it's still working for you, mine didn't, so i finally choose Rennline phone mount from Kies motorsport that it's fixed and screwed and in the perfect place out of the way from vents and buttons. This is my last and final phone car holder.
@@FritzRamos not expensive for me cause it's definitive and not waste of money like that which falls down. Again, if is good for you, go ahead. Mine is definitive.

Nice videos man. Does your head unit/radio give a little static when the car turn on and is there a fix for it.
If it does, it's quieter than the door chimes and normal start up noises. Watch I start to hear it now you brought it up 😂

Do you have an aftermarket storage spot near the cup holders and car charger?
Mine has a lid and is pretty useless.
No. I think the lids came on the LCI models mines a 2015 and Pre LCI
