Julia- pro tip for the brown sugar. Store it in an airtight jar WITH a slice or two of bread. The bread will keep the sugar moist and it wont get super hard! I dont know why it works it just does. I have been doing this for years now.
I bought some of the brown sugar clay disks, and they really do work. I had half a bag of brown sugar, and it was hard as a rock. I bought a set of 4 disks, put one in the brown sugar, and the next day when I checked it, it was as soft as the first day I bought it. 😊

I love slow cooker recipes. I just made beef vegetable soup with ramen in my slow cooker a few days ago. I freeze the soup in 1 cup soup cubes. That takes up less space than Mason jars plus 1 cup is the perfect serving size. This soup and your chicken noodle soup are my favorite soup recipes. I prefer to cook the noodles separately and then add them. That way I don't have any soggy or undercooked noodles.

Julia, just a thought, if you like the flavor bits left on the skillet from browning hamburger or sausage, add a little liquid from the tomatoes for the crockpot ziti to get all that good flavor and helps with no scrubbing the pan too! Looks so yummy! I will make for sure!😊❤

Baked Ziti looks delicious. Have you thought about adding the Marinara sauce before the water and using the 1/2 cup water to rinse the jar. I know you do this but a lot of young cooks do not know this trick. Replace the lid and put the empty jar in the fridge. Then if there are any left overs. Just put them in the jar. Don't mess up another container. fyi. Have a great week.

Hi Julia, I'm so happy I found you. My husband knows when I'm watching one of your episodes because he hears me giggling and dinner will be wonderful. I live in BC, Canada and is the humidity that makes brown sugar hard. I put 10-12 mini marshmallows in the container. The marshmallows will absorb the humidity and keeps the sugar softer. After a few months replace the marshmallows. They will be hard rock. Keep up with the great cooking,

Hey Julia, I often had issues with my brown sugar also, my friend once told me to put a few marshmallow in the container at the top to help keep the sugar moist. Helps so much. Love your channel!
A slice of bread will soften hard brown sugar. Just put the slice a bag with the brown sugar. I also keep a small slice of bread in a Mason jar with the brown sugar. That keeps it soft.

Julia, that tortilla soup is a great recipe to use the rotel varieties I have on hand. It could easily be a pantry soup for me as I do have the canned goods and chicken in freezer. Leaving the sour cream and tortillas to pick up. The movie Tortilla Soup is a favorite of mine too(if interested in watching, see if they have a the dvd at your local library). All the dishes were done by actual chefs specializing in Mexican cuisine!😊❤

Chip for anyone making food for an elderly person. My mom is 92 years old and she can no longer swallow pasta or regular noodles.😢 I have found that she can eat orzo with no problem no problem. So, I substitute that for any type of pasta or noodles. Noodles. Soup looks delicious.

Once again more great recipes. I love pulled pork. But I don’t usually make it at home. So I’ll definitely try this. And I’m a big coleslaw connoisseur. I will try it anywhere I go. I don’t always like it, but I still like to try it. There is a restaurant, back in Ohio, that had the best coleslaw. And I haven’t found anywhere that has the same anywhere else. Actually, they have great burgers too. It’s kind of fast food. But my husband and I ate there a lot. I just bought some orzo. I found a recipe I modified it to what I thought would be good. It wasn’t great. I put way too much Parmesan in mine. It turned stringy. Now I know I can make it. Put it in with chicken. And not so much Parmesan. And I’m sure the heavy cream helped. But I didn’t have any. I put the pasta water in with it. I won’t make it that way again. I will try the ziti too. But I will use some of the penne pasta I have in my pantry. I bought a lot from Amazon. And I still have four left.

Tip from the Flavor Loss Prevention Team 😂😂😂 Whenever I see meat browned up in a pan, I always think how can I keep that lovely flavor from being left behind? After the sausage is fried, maybe deglaze the hot pan with the water the recipe calls for and then add it to the ziti 😋🥳☺️

I am so grateful for this slow cooker video. It’s football season and my daughter is a cheerleader. Our small little Lutheran High School just got its first football team. We do not have a stadium so all our games are away and I need plenty of slow cooker meals for my family that stays home. All but 1 game is over and hour away 😅. It’s going to be exhausting but soooo fun to watch the girls get to cheer at football games too! Then it will be basketball season and I do slow cooker meals for that too! Thank you 😊

I love slow cooker recipes. I just made beef vegetable soup with ramen in my slow cooker a few days ago. I freeze the soup in 1 cup soup cubes. That takes up less space than Mason jars plus 1 cup is the perfect serving size. This soup and your chicken noodle soup are my favorite soup recipes. I prefer to cook the noodles separately and then add them. That way I don't have any soggy or undercooked noodles.

Julia, just a thought, if you like the flavor bits left on the skillet from browning hamburger or sausage, add a little liquid from the tomatoes for the crockpot ziti to get all that good flavor and helps with no scrubbing the pan too! Looks so yummy! I will make for sure!😊❤

Baked Ziti looks delicious. Have you thought about adding the Marinara sauce before the water and using the 1/2 cup water to rinse the jar. I know you do this but a lot of young cooks do not know this trick.
Replace the lid and put the empty jar in the fridge. Then if there are any left overs. Just put them in the jar. Don't mess up another container. fyi.

Hi Julia, I'm so happy I found you. My husband knows when I'm watching one of your episodes because he hears me giggling and dinner will be wonderful. I live in BC, Canada and is the humidity that makes brown sugar hard. I put 10-12 mini marshmallows in the container. The marshmallows will absorb the humidity and keeps the sugar softer. After a few months replace the marshmallows. They will be hard rock. Keep up with the great cooking,

Hey Julia, I often had issues with my brown sugar also, my friend once told me to put a few marshmallow in the container at the top to help keep the sugar moist. Helps so much. Love your channel!
A slice of bread will soften hard brown sugar. Just put the slice a bag with the brown sugar. I also keep a small slice of bread in a Mason jar with the brown sugar. That keeps it soft.

Julia, that tortilla soup is a great recipe to use the rotel varieties I have on hand. It could easily be a pantry soup for me as I do have the canned goods and chicken in freezer. Leaving the sour cream and tortillas to pick up. The movie Tortilla Soup is a favorite of mine too(if interested in watching, see if they have a the dvd at your local library). All the dishes were done by actual chefs specializing in Mexican cuisine!😊❤

Chip for anyone making food for an elderly person. My mom is 92 years old and she can no longer swallow pasta or regular noodles.😢 I have found that she can eat orzo with no problem no problem. So, I substitute that for any type of pasta or noodles. Noodles. Soup looks delicious.

Once again more great recipes. I love pulled pork. But I don’t usually make it at home. So I’ll definitely try this. And I’m a big coleslaw connoisseur. I will try it anywhere I go. I don’t always like it, but I still like to try it. There is a restaurant, back in Ohio, that had the best coleslaw. And I haven’t found anywhere that has the same anywhere else. Actually, they have great burgers too. It’s kind of fast food. But my husband and I ate there a lot. I just bought some orzo. I found a recipe I modified it to what I thought would be good. It wasn’t great. I put way too much Parmesan in mine. It turned stringy. Now I know I can make it. Put it in with chicken. And not so much Parmesan. And I’m sure the heavy cream helped. But I didn’t have any. I put the pasta water in with it. I won’t make it that way again. I will try the ziti too. But I will use some of the penne pasta I have in my pantry. I bought a lot from Amazon. And I still have four left.
Yes! I definitely substitute penne pasta for ziti all the time. And I’m happy to hear that you enjoyed your orzo. Maybe next time without so much Parmesan cheese! Ha ha. I have done that too before. Tip from the Flavor Loss Prevention Team 😂😂😂 Whenever I see meat browned up in a pan, I always think how can I keep that lovely flavor from being left behind? After the sausage is fried, maybe deglaze the hot pan with the water the recipe calls for and then add it to the ziti 😋🥳☺️

I am so grateful for this slow cooker video. It’s football season and my daughter is a cheerleader. Our small little Lutheran High School just got its first football team. We do not have a stadium so all our games are away and I need plenty of slow cooker meals for my family that stays home. All but 1 game is over and hour away 😅. It’s going to be exhausting but soooo fun to watch the girls get to cheer at football games too! Then it will be basketball season and I do slow cooker meals for that too!
