This song was written by Bill and Gloria Gaithers daughter. The NY concert was postponed, when rescheduled 911 had happened. This song fit so perfectly at that time in NY. I'm sure God postponed the first concert to be just in time when America needed these guys to show up ♥️

This particular song was written by Bill Gaither with David in mind, and until now has never been performed without him as far as I know. Mark Lowry is the guy who wrote Mary Did You Know? and he's present, but was taking a break from the GVB. Russell Taff replaced Lowry at baritone for a couple of years. I have heard this performed live at least 3 times and it never fails to be the high point of the concert.
This was in one of two albums shortly after 9-11; Gloria Gaither wrote the lyrics, I was told. She is very very good with words. Love seeing your reaction, because I notice the same things. I love this particular concert. It was performed at Carnegie Hall after the tragedy of 9/11. It was a tribute to the firefighters and all of the first responders who bravely fought to save the lives of all those who were trapped in the rubble. Bill Gaither’s son-in-law wrote Let Freedom Ring. You would love the entire concert. You should listen to it sometime. It is the group on stage that is the choir. The Gaither Music group hosts a 3 day event in the Gatlinburg TN area every Memorial Day weekend, and I took my mother to it several years back in the day. You run into the artists casually all weekend, and I never met one who was not gracious. In the timeframe of this video, the Homecoming group had artists who had been singing professionally for decades. Many of them have since passed on, including the pianist, Anthony Berger. Berger was the pianist who accompanied David on the "O Holy Night" performance that several reactors have reviewed. The drummer is Mike Hopper, and he's still around with his family's group. Saw them live last winter! Ernie Haase is still around with Signature Sound, but at the time of this video he was tenor with The Cathedral Quartet. Russ Taff was lead of the Imperials for several years, and is more comfortable singing lead, but he's doing the baritone with the GVB here.
