I'm a huge TED Talks addict. Rarely have I listened to one. (I just let them play while I'm by myself working on visual stuff instead of music sometimes) that didn't educate, inspire, or motivate me. But this one I heard today was particularly fascinating to me. This woman is making the world a better place in a very interesting way. She has figured out through countless studies and trials how to design video games that when played heal terminally ill players regardless of their disease, make player's lives happier, and make everyone who plays them live10 years longer. And guess what she wants you to do during those 10 years.
This is awesome. I'm 12 and I only get to see my sister about once every 3 years since we live on complete opposite sides of the country. I found this video on my recommended and all I can say is "Thank God she likes to play call of duty" this is way better than talking on the phone.
Really like the premise Jane. Similarly, my wife and I have done "sponsor couple" with couples as preparation for marriage for the past 15 years. Since about the second time, one of the "sprinkles" we offer as advice is that board games can save the family unit. Time with family without television, enjoying each other, teaching children how to win or lose graciously, seeing their true personality, etc. is not only fun, it is necessary and productive. Good to find out we were also adding years to our lives :-) For what? Hopefully to play board games with our grandchildren, of course!

WOW! What an amazing TED talk - Jane you are an inspiration! I loved the story-telling structure of your talk & how you really engaged everyone in truly amazing information and human experience. Everyone needs to watch this, definitely one of my favorite TED talks & I've seen alot :)
Great Work, Jane! I will be adding your SuperBetter App to my armamentarium of Behavioral Mood/Resilience/Dopamine Enhancement protocols... Great stuff!
I agree with her a lot but I believe that using games to express your true self and to stay connected to friends is a bit of a stretch for me, if that is the only way you are accomplishing those things. So many people are becoming more and more antisocial and unable to interact face to face because we don't interact face to face much anymore. I go to an art school and there are so many students who just don't have the social skills to hold a conversation or do well in a live job interview because we as a society aren't talking much outside of IM, text, email, blogs or TH-cam comments anymore. The point she made that I really enjoyed was about not working so hard, let yourself have fun and enjoy the silly things. Don't get so wrapped up in your work or the stress from all the things on your plate. By all means, play some games to interact with friends and family. But go hike, be together in person, sit outside and talk or draw or write or whatever. I do believe games are important but we can't convince ourselves that games and other technologies are all we need to accomplish these 5 regrets of the dying.
u r awsmmm jane..!!!! inspired me...and u showed me a way to get away from evrtng which made my life harder..and lead a happy life..ill remember u forever..!!!! love uuu!!!!
