    I actually agree with everything you said. Yeah it possibly is not 100% factual, but I don't think you said anything that disrespected God or made him upset. Many people do believe that the Bible is a rule book so it's good that you made this video to dispel of some of the myth/rumors that you hear. Lastly, we love you too. Continue preaching the word of God and God bless!

    I agree with you for every point! Furthermore I think that the Bible is different for everyonr who read it, because of we have different personal story and we lived our live by many differents ways. And that's why the Bible is more than a book, that's why the Bible is so precious!
    Hope you'll understand, my english is bad because I'm french...
    Thank you so much, I really admire your videos and how you are!

      I don't think that the Bible is different to all who read it. It's message is definitely portrayed in different ways, people understand it differently because of how much God reveals to them. But the Bible is definitely the same book to all. We do all understand it differently because of how we live our lives- what messages we listen to, what church we go to, what material we read. Is this what you meant when saying that it's different to all people?
      By the way, your English is very good! It is my second language as well so I totally understand how you feel:)

      I feel that the Bible is different for all as all of us will take different things out of it depending on the situation of life that we are in. It still has the same things in it but reading the same single verse each day may give you 5 different pieces of wisdom for example

    Another thing I believe the Bible is: Inspiration. As a poet, artist and musician, I find inspiring stories all throughout the Bible and it has shaped me as a better artist. The Bible is also engaging. I love the Bible so much. I just got finished reading Isaiah a few days ago. What an amazing book. If you feel like being inspired, I recommend the read. :-)

    For me, this video wasn't so much as controversial but informative. It was like a revelation. What you said makes sense. I think this video put a few people at ease, to know that the Bible is not meant to be "strict" but it is meant to lead, teach, and inspire. Great video. I enjoyed!

  • @the7Silvas
    @the7Silvas 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    With all that has been said, I believe the Bible is a glimpse of God's mind- what he thinks, how He looks at things, what He feels, His desire for a close relationship with us. However, the Bible does teach us that His ways are higher than our ways and that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, so to me, my interpretation of the Bible is a portrait of God in the simplest way possible so that we don't complicate anything or make of the things in it too religious.

    About the rules: God is like your parents, he and them make rules because they know what's best for you. God and your parents don't make rules just so they can tell you what to do. And if you break the rules, God and your parents will not disown you. They both still love you no matter what.

    • @kandeexiong2272
      @kandeexiong2272 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I feel like yes there are rules that God wants us to obey! But not the WHOLE bible itself is just a list of rules! Does that make more sense?

  • @sydneybolin9186
    @sydneybolin9186 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Where you say there are so many inaccuracies in the Bible because so many different people wrote the Bible to get their perspective across, you make a great point. They could have been writing their perspective to show us that those rules or laws don't apply in that time period. Thus showing us that the Bible is not a rule book, or an instruction manual. It could be their way (or I guess God's way) of showing us how the Bible effects us, and how to use it. For example, all the books Paul wrote in the New Testament show us how Paul interpreted the Bible. It could be that the Bible can be interpreted in multiple ways not just one in particular.

    Jon and the good folks at Anima,
    Very good stuff in this! So many people I know have used the bible(myself included) in our own little ways to defend our reasoning for things and ideals. Pointing to Jesus remains through it all and im thankful for this reminder yall recorded. Keep up the good work! God bless! Romans 1:16

    Dude I tried to define it to my colleagues and had trouble doing so and wondered why for a long time. I tried to give it a definition even more afterwards to myself to see if i can make sense out of it but to of no avail.
    I really agree with you now- as it is clear to see, that i was actually trying to define the LIVING word of God.
    I mean, i would be pretty upset if my life and even just a few experiences that i lived through defined me as a whole. Or if through one impression- i was Judged by another person.
    I definitely am not the guy to quote verses all the time nor am i spiritually jacked diesel but bear with me on this half ass interpretation of a verse God revealed to me:
    God said through Jesus- when JC was at dinner i think- that when He left- God would give us the Holy Spirit to lead us to Him.
    So that word^ kinda adds it all up for me. It makes more sense now with the way you explained it.
    I failed to explain it because i am not the person to give it definition- The Holy Spirit gives us the true PERSONAL meaning in order for us to individually understand how to strengthen our own relationship with God.
    That being said- lol- you will really excommunicate me, The bible is like a phone from God into the world for each and every one of us. Some may have the best signal while others like me are just lost in a tunnel- sounds depressing lol
    Anyways, thanks man ill check out more of your videos for sure. God bless everyone - peace.

    This was amazing. You're a great teacher! I especially loved the point about "offensive" v. "defensive." What do you say to someone who says that the Bible has 125+ versions? They try to use that as a point that the Bible isn't valid BECAUSE there are so many versions.

    • @kennethetter7379
      @kennethetter7379 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "What do you say to someone who says that the Bible has 125+ version" - I say that God can give revelation through all 125 versions.and if they are using that as an excuse to keep from starting with a version, to start somewhere, then they aren't serious about taking this journey and you should do as directed in Matthew 10:14 and just dust your feet off and move on to the next town. Remember those without the spirit of God will not be able to understand that which is of God (1 Cor 2:14) because they are spiritually discerned, and much of the teachings in scripture is given by the Holy Spirit. I take no offense when others don't get what I have been given and just move on to those our Father truly desires for me to meet. Love to talk more and if you're interested, check me out on Facebook (Ken Etter, LaGrange, KY)

    This video reminds me of the one by Jefferson Bethke about how to view the bible and to be honest, I don't understand the point in limiting the bible in this way...the bible is all of those things but I think the trick is to know when and how to use it in each of these ways...maybe a video like that would have been more helpful.

  • @famiilliii

    Context context context. If only people understand the original context written by the writer and authored by the Holy Spirit... there won't be any confusion. (Most likely I've lost 99% of people reading by now)
    But what does it take to actually understand the bible?
    Deep bible study is not done by our own might. But by letting God guide us through the study. How does that look like?
    1) Ask in prayer that God is there to guide you in every single time you start to read the bible.
    2) You have gone through all the verses of a topic and see clearly the big picture and how each verses were woven together.
    That's how you know, God has been with you all the way through. Then that awe factor hits you of how this library of written scriptures were preserved as it is.
    See it on this way... You know that tingle you get when you hear an audiobook was narrated by the original author, it becomes more colourful and intimate. Once you experience that AWE factor... That is like the same way it feels to have a deep bible study. 🤯😇

    In your opinion is the Bible an authoritative document? The reason I ask is because in my introduction to the Bible class here at school the first online discussion asked us if we thought the Bible was an authoritative document. Everyone said yes but me. So now I'm curious as to what is the opinion of Jon Jorgenson and the Anima team.

  • @alexher78

    I agree with everything point, but I think i misinterpret what you said about the instruction or rule book. I actually do think that one of the things the Bible is a rule book o instruction manual, but not as an angry dictator's rule book that if you don't do them, god will strike you down with lighting. No, I think these rules are like teaching or rules from an loving parent. You could actually take every single "rule that is written in the bible, and apply consequences if you brake them, and I'll bet you that you will come up with the conclusion that living your life by those rules, you life a better life. But what is even better, the same way you will get along with your loving parent if you listen to them, imagen have God as the loving parent, that because you showed respect and love for him by doing your best to live by his teaching, you will develop a happy relationship with the almighty, he will be there for you, he will confort you, he will protect you and best of all, like Christ said "if you abby by this mandate, you will be my friend". So basiclly all you have to do is listen and live a better life and you'll have God as a parent and Jesus as your friend? and the icing on the cake is that to sign up all you have to do is believe.
    Awesome work love your Ideas, keep it up!! and God Bless you all.

    I think you have alot of wisdom (God's wisdom) although I do not fully agree with the bible being a story book, although it tells some particullar stories, I think it should not be loked at as a story book, I've heard people compare the bible to other story books like HarryPotter and so on and that is only because they look at the Bible as a story...

    so, question then. Have you ever asked yourself if this book of words is alive over ALL the copyrights of what original bible? the difference and diversity of multiple different languages of the bible is unique but how many bibles have you read in what different languages? i have read very little in KJV, NIV, and have looked at a Russian bible and a bible written in Hebrew. What I am stating my trouble is, which is believing the age of the book of the copyritten version of which original book? a conversation can be meant in many versions, so do you beileve it all comes down to one.

    • @toseakinmola1753
      @toseakinmola1753 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Krysta. It's not paper and ink that make the Bible come alive; it's the Holy Spirit within us guiding us as we read. The reason why we have so many translations (English ones in this case) is because the English language is always evolving and for making it easier to understand (children's version, etc.). I don't believe it all comes down to one. Jesus is Lord, and you'll find the truth of the Gospel across versions.
