I haven’t read Lispector yet, but I’m going to dip in. I read Consent…fascinating. And the. Didn’t think of looking for more Ciment at my library. I’m going to!
I had been away lately so I'm only catching up on your videos now, but I'm happy to hear you've luxuriating in some fine literature! Clarice is a league of her own
Thanks so much for this video. I love watching your excitement! The quote you read from Heti about having a joyful relationship with the mightiness of life -that struck a chord with me. I was aware that Heti and Shapton had worked together (along with Heidi Julavits) on the amazing book Women in Clothes, but didn’t know any other connections. While I appreciate Shapton’s art as illustration, I haven’t been enamoured by the two art collections of hers that I picked up: Guestbook and Native Trees of Canada. Speaking of illustrations, thank you for showing samples of Gilot’s art in Colette’s novel.
Oh! You just made my day, thank you. It was a remarkably exciting (and unexpected) reading week which I only realised really once I sat down to record. I write myself a few notes prior, but I am finding that it's only when I start to talk to the camera that I discover what I truly feel. It's rather odd. Yes, that relationship with the mightiness of life quote from Heti is almost worth the whole Lispector book. Ha I do agree about Guestbook and Trees, I actually purchased Guestbook and return to it every so often and STILL find it to be a waste of my time. Maybe one day someone will explain it to me. The Women in Clothes book is the best, it's my comfort book :-) I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the Gilot illustrations!! E x
Emily, from The Linguist's Library, has me reading Lispector (& the new Benjamin Moser bio), I love them. It's been quite a revelation, & now part of my rich Jewish stream. I will write on Lispector in my new autobiography-in-verse to be called 'Hounded'. I am having a blast!
Great library you have behind you. Plenty there to keep you out of mischief for a while. Best wishes and happy reading.

Yes, Emily is such a fabulous Lispector influencer. 'Hounded' is such a great title, by the way.
@@theonlyrealproperty2567: thanks, yes I'm pretty proud of it.
🥰😍☺
Love that Shapton book. I also loved Lispector’s passion of g h.
Passion of GH is a favorite of mine!
Oh, I might give Passion of GH a go next. Thanks!
Blatant first impression is the books! Unique for #booktube?
Welcome to my grandfather's library :-) (I inherited it). The only real property is the property of the mind (he taught me that).
