OK, seriously guys we've never brought in or used a firearm illegally before and never will. We're not going to disclose on every video how the gun we're using was legally sent and being used by us, every episode takes over 100 hours of team prep to make, do any of you really think we don't take the time to make sure everything is being done properly?

Disassembly and the patented pokey stick notes and Mae firing analysis are really cool parts of each upload, mind you but the main reason I eagerly await for new uploads is to hear the stories behind the weapons. In German there is a phrase "Nul acht fuenfzehn" which means simple, unremarkable, standard, reliable. It's a phrase that was in relatively common usage when I was growing up in the 1990's, an I suspect it's still in use today. What many people don't realize is that the phrase refers to the old MG08/15... funny how things can love on culturally.

You mentioned his father but his son, Hiram Percy Maxim, is even better known by some of us as a founder of the ARRL, the American Ham radio organization. A very good video, I await your part 2.
Well, the service life in the next episode is going to include the present, since Ukraine officially reactivated Maxims to defend fortified positions on the armistice line. I guess it helps that they can just use PKM belts.
Maybe the owner ought to go talk to some people from his local steam engine or model steam club. Those guys know a bit about gland packings using modern materials that work. For example, old style graphited yarn is almost impossible to find. These days an O ring can do the same thing.
Love your content, don't care that it was an hour and a half. Sad I know, but I watch your videos while I cook dinner. It looked like Mae was really enjoying playing with that gun. Lucky lass.
Love this amount of history you throw out there and in a relatable way. I just drove through Denver in April, but there was a whole slew of cool things on I-70. There not much between St. Louis and Denver, but Salina, Kansas was a good half way stopping point between the two.
Amazing episode on an amazing piece of engineering and history as usual. Can’t wait for the second part. BTW the look on Mae’s face while firing was hilarious. It looked like a kid going into a candy store with a rich uncle who doesn’t really get along with mom. Also be safe on your ride Othais when that happens and have a good vacation. I know you need it and while I will be sad to not get my weekly gun documentary I’m certain that the recharge will do wonders.
Thank you very much for this amazing video. I saw it yesterday and was totally impressed. In times, when Hollywood make stupid Comic-movies, Othais and Mae bringing ambitious entertainment to the people and i learned a lot from both of you...about the guns of my country Germany. Much better than any german video-publication! Impressively thoroughly researched and inspiring!
Looking forward to the Vickers episode. When the British Army finally took them out of inventory they rebuilt one, then spent a week firing 5 million surplus rounds through it (with barrel changes obviously). After the test they took it apart to check for wear, the things was still ready to go.... Hell of a gun.
There are still some live ones about in UK, owned under Section 5 for films etc. Though do make sure the muzzle booster is on correctly, very embarrasing when it flies off at a public display.

Love your content, don't care that it was an hour and a half. Sad I know, but I watch your videos while I cook dinner. It looked like Mae was really enjoying playing with that gun. Lucky lass.
Great video. I learned a lot. I could watch a 5hr episode and not complain. Thank you.
The plan is to prepare the episodes before I go.. The show should be uninterrupted.
"LIKE VOODOO MAGIC, IT DOES EVERYTHING ON ITS OWN" This quote says it all.....
Mae-ver-sation May be my new fav word. Brilliant episode, so much research, well done.
That episode was glorious. Very well done!
Great episode, thank you for all the hard work and time you put into every one!
Thank you Jeff!
I did not know that, though to be fair I would hardly qualify for a Section 5! They do not exactly hand them out :P.
For the water jacket to barrel seals check McMaster Carr for graphite impregnated rope, it's used in heavy industry high heat applications
I love the episode! So glad you made it long & a 2 parter!
This was for sure a hard working episode. Great work guys!
