This is actually one of the most fascinating scenarios in movie history. It's supposed to make us question what traits and faults we value or deride the most. Do we save someone who's wealthy and employs a lot of people? Do we save a veteran that's served his or her country? Do we spare a paramedic that saves lives? Everyone of us has an answer and those could change at any point between now and the next century. It's simple, but brilliant
In college the psych dept did a study on this very thing. We volunteers (students) were paid in free food (pizza) and $5/hr to do initial intake questionaires (completely anonymously to ensure honesty) about any racism bigotry preconceived notion stereotypes etc as well as our statistical information like our age race sexual orientation social financial status etc. surveys and survival games like this. Since they couldn't replicate the dying they altered the selfish survival trade to greed and stated that the last person remaining in the game would receive a bonus prize of $1,000 , the 2 making it to the 2nd to last round would each get $500 and the 3 players that made it to the 3rd to last round would get each $100 bonuses. That's a lot of money for college students so all of us were honestly and truly trying our best to "kill" the other people and "survive" to the last round and win that large cash prize. All I will say is oh my God did it bring out the ugliness in people. And just like in this movie people tried formatting temporary alliances they would use being Muslim against a person if they wore the burqa (head covering), thank goodness nobody could use racial slurs during the "exercise". In the instructions we were told We would be expelled from the game if we said any words that were profane (no cursing) or use derogatory racial slurs. I guess the proctors didn't want real physical fights breaking out! Still you should have seen how conniving and duplicious some people were.
I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t end it with the kid or baby surviving. I suppose out of that many people there would be at least one person who would save themselves over the kid. But I still feel 99% of humanity would never kill the child.
I like to think that the aliens never actually got anyone killed, and just faked everyone’s deaths and returned them to earth upon being dragged out, the illusion of them dying was just for the aliens to get them to act in a realistic way to test their morality, this is kinda hinted at the end, where the aliens kinda guilt trip Eric, the one who “survived” by returning him on earth right by the types of people he selfishly got killed for his own survival.
I don't think so tho becuase Eric wakes up with woman and children most likely the survivors from the other circles, so presumably the winners are the only people alive
@@mythicalashley9542 it's possible the aliens just moved the others somewhere else so the winners would believe they died and see how it affected them afterwards, kaybe even see how the winners would interact amongst themselves, again if the aliens just wanted to see what humans were like and what they valued they really wouldn't have a reason to actually directly harm them
@@mythicalashley9542 Yeah, and knowing how these aliens are it’s also possible they’re just waiting to regroup all the winners with everyone else they were with and see how they interact after something like that, I’m honestly surprised it didn’t end with him waking up surrounded by everyone else that was presumably executed, but maybe that came later for the aliens experiments
I mean. If the pregnant woman is dead but the baby is still “alive”, what would choosing the baby to live actually do? Resurrect the mother too? Or would the fetus just plop onto concrete as the winner and then die quickly after?
Or if the pregnant woman was the last to go, would she face off against her baby, because here baby definitely counted as 1 person, and only 1 person can survive.

What the ending strongly indicates is that for the aliens' new regime, they attacked the human population by having them reduce each other first. If 20 people enter a game and only one leaves, then this new society cannot rise against the aliens, because they can hardly trust each other. Every one of them a winner of the game. Perhaps the aliens will also pretend their dictatorship is a benevolent one, but the first step was destabilizing the humans and weakening their ability to trust one another.
I mean the aliens could just zap one more person on every ship. But of course in the real world scenario, I think everyone would panic and will shove one another outside the circle. Everyone will die.
Well, let's face it... The lack of trust eliminates the social aspects of humans. And with no social sense, natural selections takes its turn on humans and take them to their own downfall.

the game focusing on the circles, hence the title, pregnant women equal to 1 person due to being on one circle together. when the mother fell, the baby heartbeat was picked up by the circle and therefore became another person, so all those pregnant women at the end, still had their babies because they were on one circle so don't have to vote for their baby.
I honestly think the pregnant woman should’ve won. Out of everyone in that room, the only one to leave without severe PTSD would’ve been the baby. …however, would the room have made her choose between her and her child?
Most likely yeah. Even if she and the baby were the only survivors she would still have to vote. Even if she wouldn't want to kill her unborn child she would might vote cause of the fact that if she dies the baby will die with her also.
@@The_One-And_Only_Weirdo interestingly, there are pregnant women walking around at the end. Well let's start with the fact that he knew that in order to get in a right spot, he needed to speak up about his conclusions of the game. People were trying to figure the thing out and Eric filled some of their blanks. He said exactly what was needed to say. Using that, he showed the group their true intentions, which weeded out the wicked minded and the "sensible". Most of them let their inner problems, such as insecurities, and fear get in the way, even ambition was downfall, as you may have seen with the young guy who gave the idea of killing elderly and the bearded guy at the end. It's simple, but brilliant
keep dreaming

I mean. If the pregnant woman is dead but the baby is still “alive”, what would choosing the baby to live actually do? Resurrect the mother too? Or would the fetus just plop onto concrete as the winner and then die quickly after?

What the ending strongly indicates is that for the aliens' new regime, they attacked the human population by having them reduce each other first. If 20 people enter a game and only one leaves, then this new society cannot rise against the aliens, because they can hardly trust each other. Every one of them a winner of the game. Perhaps the aliens will also pretend their dictatorship is a benevolent one, but the first step was destabilizing the humans and weakening their ability to trust one another.

This movie is amazing. Were the aliens there to just kill people and watch, rid humanity of bad people? Or were they just observing our morals and no one really died, they just need the participants to believe they are dead to get them to act in a realistic way.
If only we got an answer by the end
More likely the people that lived were bad because most of them had to think of themselves just like the dude that win in the movie
@@hallooos7585 Because the winner can only be one. Anyone who think more than themselves will die. Its a cruel game to turn people against one another but at the same time it let u see the truth.
God bless the Hispanic man he sacrifice his life for the kid
And god bless the blk people who had zero chance of survival because of racism. Not being funny but the movie was about social experiments so we knew that would be touched on. Ive seen the actual movie twice (it honestly wasnt good lol) and thats 1000% the reason why they killed him (them), as in they actually said it "the black guy, vote the black guy!"
@@enricorodrigues-castragran7810
1. It's a movie
2. There first person to die was white. This has nothing to do with racism, if anything, realisticly the last one to survive would be the black person since no one wants to look like a racist/victim status.
@@enricorodrigues-castragran7810 they probably said vote the black guy as that is his most noticeable feature compared to others.
@@MikeOck88 Literally no one cares so much about not being labeled "racist" in a fucking life or death situation to purposely not vote out black people over themselves or others. Stop unironically trying to victimize yourself.
@@vallano8970 yeah, we're more biased towards people who are like us. a circle with mostly black would probably sprout a black winner. at some point, they'd vote off the arab or the asian dude.

lowkey the only movie i feel is underrated af, i saw it twice and its just as good as the first time ive seen it. the twists and turns and you just have no idea what's going to happen. and the ending was superb in the amount of implications involved.
Hispanic man is a legend and why didn’t hat guy just not tell anyone how to vote and he could have won
That would be a great idea honestly but if people caught on then they could probably figure out how to vote and it might not work
But the Aliens would put the light on him with the kid for exemple.
I guees it wasn’t that bad for hat guy. He told them abs gained trust instead of wating 1-5 turns before ppl realised anyway.
The aliens would of noticed what he was doing and just kilt him off lmao
But someone could have accidentally killed him so he had to guide them to be intentional first and then he shut up and waited until the end tomake his move.
I have seen this movie it’s good in my opinion, even though I was kinda mad at some peoples decisions
Is there part 2?
@@dexter1 not sure hopefully
To be honest the very fact that anyone can think killing another human being is at all justified is what reveals how dirty human beings are. At a time like this, the right thing to do would be for everyone to just suicide, for the simple reason that it's better to die well than to have blood on your hands. It's obvious to me that the aliens are playing some kind of entertainment/experiment game on humans. So judging that it was always a matter of morality, shows how hard it is for humans to do the right thing. I'm only glad to see the few individuals who were willing to sacrifice themselves - the ultimate form of love, which is what really matters.
@@amberslahlize7961 I don’t get your reasoning at all, we are not the way we are out of nowhere, this behaviour has been hammered into us over millions of years. Nature is cruel in every aspect, right and wrong are very much human concepts.
@@tonk3878 You say this, when there is no proof for it. You cannot prove morality is a human concept, therefore you cannot reason that morality is subjective.
Regardless, it's no excuse to practice murder, stealing is still wrong, morality is an absolute, which is why it takes a lot of character to uphold it, and why not many humans abide by it, especially nowadays.
I love the glasses guy's logic. Question people's contribution to society, all the while being abducted in a space vessel by unknown species.
My man's, that world ain't yours anymore. 😂
I have a feeling this entire exercise is the aliens figuring out how easy it would be to conquer the planet and what measures to use.

@@BULD0SIS Huh?
Did anybody not notice that it was going all into Eric's favor? Its as though some high power were helping him throughout the game. Why? Well let's start with the fact that he knew that in order to get in a right spot, he needed to speak up about his conclusions of the game. People were trying to figure the thing out and Eric filled some of their blanks. He said exactly what was needed to say. Using that, he showed the group their true intentions, which weeded out the wicked minded and the "sensible". Most of them let their inner problems, such as insecurities, and fear get in the way, even ambition was downfall, as you may have seen with the young guy who gave the idea of killing elderly and the bearded guy at the end. Eric was the only one who had it figured out. Only Eric will remember this, and take it with him as a experience. This was no game of chance. This was a game for Eric.

@@lunamadz1983 if you can't make the choice to kill and you hesitate to make the choice, then you are practically dead. The guy didn't hesitate to sacrifice the kid and kill the pregnant woman, sure he is a manipulative @sshole but he doesn't let his emotions get in the way.
Imagine how they save their budget doing this on a single room.
So the aliens would learn this:
Humans value non-judgemental contributing members of society, for the purpose of protecting children. But in the end, many of us would rather save themselves if forced to choose.
Seems pretty accurate.
Considering the fact that we don’t really know what happens when we die, choosing your own survival is the most logical choice.
@@gummy5862 How is that logic?
Since we don't really know what happens when we die, we also can't know whether it's a good or a bad thing at all. So we're in the dark. Lack of knowledge rarely amounts to any knowledge at all.
@@Sich97 Exactly we don’t know, therefore the better option is to try to avoid it because it might really suck.
@@gummy5862 Well it might really suck, and it might be unimaginably better than current life. The likelihood of one or the other is impossible to estimate. There's a reason this remains a core philosophical talking point to this day. It's unknowable. And as I said, even estimates don't work.
A descriptive aproach shows us most people choose to stay alive in most circumstances. But this tells us little, since we only have current life to compare anything at all to.
@@Sich97 that’s not logic. Survivalism isn’t about taking chances. The logical outcome would be to stick to a normalized situation instead of taking a avoidable risk.
