Guys, making videos for intermediate learners is such a great idea. When I watched your video about why you think your channel isn’t doing as well as it could, I wondered if it might be because there are way more beginner and intermediate learners of Mandarin than advanced ones. I love your videos, and honestly, like so many of your followers, I think your content is the best I’ve found for learning Mandarin. Like someone mentioned in the comments of your last video, your content has depth, and I really appreciate that.
That said, as an intermediate learner, I sometimes struggle to follow when I’m not familiar with the topic, and I lose track of the conversation. You add both English and Mandarin subtitles to your videos, which is great, but I prefer sticking to just listening and watching without subtitles, so I love naturally more comprehensible content.
I use the comprehensible input method to learn languages, and Mandarin has been really tough for me since most of the content online is either way too easy or way too hard. Right now, I’m learning Spanish with Dreaming Spanish, and I’m making so much progress. I’d love it if you guys could make some more comprehensible videos for intermediate/high-intermediate learners now and then. Maybe that could even help grow your subscriber base faster, too.
Anyway, your content is already amazing. Thanks so much for all the effort you put into it!

The fastest way to make progress at an intermediate level is by combining explicit and implicit learning methods. Explicit learning can be super effective if you create audio-based sentence Anki cards. For implicit learning, nothing beats engaging with unscripted, meaningful comprehesible input like Dashu Mandarin, which makes learning more natural and full of life.
If you haven't already, creating your own audio sentence Anki deck could be a game-changer. I’ve done this myself, creating 2000 cards in just a month, and my level is skyrocketing. My suggestion for Dashu Mandarin is to create such a audio sentence deck to get the listeners quicker to a level where they can understand podcasts. In the end, the learner has to do the grinding oneself and extend the deck, but it would be a good starting it.

Can you elaborate how you efficiently create audio based cards? I can create Anki cards but not sure about audio ones.

@Fuzzball Sure, look for the video "the grind evildea" that describes the essence of it. You can do any variation of this process. If you're interested, I'll describe my variation in more detail.

@dashumandarin Appreciate your words. I'd even donate and assist you in creating a prototype with a 100 sentences that we could give you for free to fans. I've only got 4 weeks left, though, but since I'm creating such cards every day, it would not change much in my schedule. You'd just need to provide the sentences and record the audio and I'd do the rest. I would even generate some appealing watercolor images for each card, which are not really necessary but might make the fans more interested. It might be worth a try to see if people are interested.

@@Reflekt0r It's fun to see if learners like this kind of format. 👍So, if we try to do it. We only give you the entries, audio, and the sentences (in text and mp3 files), right? I think 30 entries would be enough to test if people love it. What do you think?

I am an upper-intermediate level learner. There are 2 channels I find suitable for my level - "Mandarin Corner" and "Dashu Mandarin". Thanks for doing this.
One humble request/suggestion: It would be great to hear sometimes on popular topics related to Chinese history as well, in additional to the cultural topics you do. E.g. silk road, Opium wars, Journey to the West (the topics most Chinese learners would have some famiairty with, but would like to hear few native Chinese people discuss it to get modern cultural perspective).

Hey guys! Thanks for making a video responding to some of the comments from the previous podcast! I didn't know much about the website before and how many options there are. That might be my fault for not doing more research. I will definitely be checking the website out and using the ebooks and other content that is available there. Thanks again!

    另一种想法是录制一些使用简单语言的节目。基本上,就像你在和一个4到8岁的孩子说话一样。这样,中文的水平会足够简单,让词汇量有限的人能听懂更多内容。这也会提升你的TH-cam,因为你把节目放在TH-cam上,而中文教学领域普遍缺乏这种中间过渡的“桥梁”内容,这将吸引更多观众订阅你的节目。
