    Why I like these.
5 watt is the same as an in car install.
You can buy an adapter for your car antenna to this radio and use it as a second in car unit, but when you want to you can unscrew it and walk around.
If your car battery dies and your solar isn’t charging, you still have a battery.
I keep a in-car unit under the dash with a speaker/mic either in the glove box when parked or on the dash in front of me. A handheld plugged in to extra car antenna and charge unit with a speaker/mic extension in the center console, and a hand held clipped to the dash on the right side.
Both the driver and front passenger can easily get to the in-car radio if needed.
Anyone in the front or back can reach the center console extension and use it if they need too. Also I don’t forget to take a radio with me if I’m going for a walk as it’s right in front of me as I leave the car. There is also a place to clip an extra radio for the front passenger but I don’t carry one normally.
I have my in-car antennas mounted with adjustable angle mounts to the roof and when they are down they are protected from damage by the roof rack. I don’t mount radios to the front bumper as if you crash the primary damage point is the front or rear of the vehicle. I’ve seen to many people break an antenna mounted to the bumper. It also get hit and damaged by road debris from vehicles in front all the time.
I also carry a spare portable antenna and 10m cable.
Never know when you’ll need the antenna up a tree to help get some extra distance.
Having two handhelds also means two battery’s. In a pinch leave one on and save the other for when it dies. So you have extra battery life.
Have a person in the convoy that doesn’t have a radio.
    Give them a handheld…

Been using them on the farm. Good units and I have a lot of dust in summer.

You are getting a lot with this radio. A couple of features not really touched on here: A 2550Ma. battery is pretty sizable in it's class and it edges out Icom. These things have an excellent claimed stand by time. The other feature that these have is a full range of power. Bigger isn't always better. Being able to turn the power down to a mere 100 milliwatts is a blessing if you are in close proximity to another radio, i.e. working around machinery such as tractors or reversing trailers or whatever.
It actually makes your signal better, not worse, and it saves on batteries. A rotary channel selector is also a bonus.
My only two peeves with this (Icom are also guilty) is no broadcast FM/dual watch capability and no USB-C charging. Come on GME and Icom, I can get these features on a Chinese "naughty" radio for a fraction of the price. Yes, I know, they're not class licensed, yet, but it won't be too much longer, I suspect.

Yeah Rob the constant threat is very real to silence me, they have stopped my growth for so many years now and everyone needs to stay vigilant in checking their subscription to me. Thanks for being on top of it mate 👍

Always remember a radio is useless if you don't have friends.

Is it possible to put a 3db aerial on this GME UHF radio? Any idea what db gain antenna/aerials is on this GME radio.
My mate bought one of GMEs main competitors big name brand that starts with a U 5 watt UHF radios about 7 or 8 years ago and he replaced the antenna/aerial with a longer 3db 5/8 wave length antenna/aerial increasing the performance of the radio.

It has a standard antenna port so just unscrew the areal and screw on a different one.
You can even get an adapter and screw on you car mounted antenna.

I put a 3dbi high gain antenna on my TX6600 and didn't find I got better range, just clearer comms over the same distance as the OEM antenna.
