Finally a flawlessly sounding live version of one of Radioheads newest songs, Identikit. This version was snagged from the Coachella live stream. The concert was on 04-14-2012.
Still love the live version more than album, esp. the synth and Ed's back-up vocals
+Chris Baker The bridge is significantly better in this version, imo...that synth sound is fantastic.
agreed. I wonder if when they play it live on tour it will sound more like the studio version or closer to this rendition?
+Chris Baker the studio version sounds more like a off the bat improv jam session to me :/
Yes weirdly! The studio version sounds less produced. This version has such beautiful drenched reverb on the synth. The studio version lacks that and also seems to have an overly low attack for some reason. Too rigid.
synth here is greater so far
oh my god 1:40, the shift from b minor to f minor - genius. no band does that.
+nicotine&gravy I think the fucking same.
+nicotine&gravy Is it really from B Minor to F Minor? The exact chords? I want to learn this!
+Seoul It's the key I think.
Yes! love this shift. Also the one in bodysnatchers, where the guitar riff comes on.
B major*
holy shit this song is so powerful
songs like this are the reason why radiohead is legendary
The backing vocals make this version, but I prefer the outro solo of the studio. Jonny just nails it.
Indeed.
Someone needs to combine them
The percussion in this one beats the studio imo
Really? I was thinking the opposite
I like the ghostly backing vocals in the studio much more, also the solo. But the synth tone and key in this one it's awesome.
Just have to throw this out there, I love when artists (in particular, Radiohead) write songs unconventionally that aren't the usual verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus. Radiohead is flawless
15 step and idioteque had a baby :)
Micah Buzan it's scary how you have the top comment on all the Radiohead's vids
For me it's like scatterbrain
@@huesillo009 you know
After all these years, Radiohead still got it. They are absolutely brilliant. Always presenting beautiful and unforgetabble stuff.
This band is a landmark in modern music.
Whenever they release their next album, I hope they keep this sound. Like a cross between TKOL and it's beautiful atmosphere and beats, mixed with In Rainbows fantastic rhythm and guitar.
+Reginald P. Tallywinker did you get what you wanted ? :)
+Rupert/ Melodiic heh, it wasn't quite what I was expecting but I'm certainly not let down. They did the studio version of this song justice, and the album as a whole is great.
Wtf? There is no way 2016 was 6 years ago
Holy fuck it was
BROKEN
HEARTS
MAKE
IT
RAIN
YES IT IS RAIN
This is my favorite version.
This song makes me feel like a water strider in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Reynold Adamson When the fuck did I post this lol.
+Reynold Adamson Looks like you were smoking some tough shit back then lol.
this song feels like it is thirty seconds because I enjoy every second of it and get lost in the track of time.
Love them but not having this version on the album was a missed opportunity, STILL the superior version of the song
100%. Radiohead has had tendency to over produce or just straight up ruin some of their best songs. Darn shame.
BEST SONG ON "A MOON SHAPED POOL"
+Nasseh MIchel They made a shambles of it on the album this version is way better. No comparison for me. I'm very disappointed with the album version. I do like the album alot though.
+Padraic o'donoghue They made a shambles of ful stop.....not exiting or volotile/crazy like the live versions....but I like the albums identikit a lot though.
+Padraic o'donoghue People are always disappointed with new versions of songs, especially if you've had time to get used to this version.
Lucky for me I hadn't heard this version before, so I loved the album version.
+alexf02071999 I agree, and really wish I hadn't heard this version first, as being "disappointed" by the new version kind of took me out of the album.
Hell no! The choir on the album is absolutely astonishing! Infinitely better than this version, I get shivers every time!!
better than album version!!!
This version is forever my favorite
There is no other music there is only radiohead
I only wish that they kept that powerful synth in this version in the studio version. It just seems a little weak on the album. Other than that, I dig the studio version.
+Estacuenta Nodeberiaexistir I just think it needed a a little more power and fullness to give it that extra oomph. In this version, it's a moment of power and you can really feel it. I still love the studio version, don't get me wrong.
+Cruz Avila To be fair, you do get a nifty Jonny Greenwood solo in the studio version.
+Tyleratx That is very true. I'm so used to his solos, I didn't think of it
+Estacuenta Nodeberiaexistir I'm hoping more unreleased tracks are the b sides, too. We got quite a few old tracks on the new record
Cruz Avila I was listening to the studio version. The synth riff is still there. It just occurs under the choir. But its totally there.
This song is amazing. Radiohead is the only artist I've listened to for over ten years whose new material matches the brilliance of their earlier work.
when they played this at the comcast center in mass, i think my brain melted.
This sounds like it could have fit in really well on Hail To the Thief. Love it.
strange how they went from this discordant Fm to Bm... in the live version.... then sweetened it up for the studio recording and started in F#, to B#. pity!!!! loved the oddball key change of the original. nobody does tri-tone key changes anymore!
Coldacre That's F# to C ;)
And it's still a tritone if it's F# to C. OP needs to clarify or I'll actually have to do some research..
Radiohead surprises me with EVERY album, no matter how hard I try to predict what it will sound like. This song came out of fucking nowhere, it's like hearing There There for the first time. Beaut.
Can't wait for the next album and tour, I just had to get into Radiohead a month after they last visited my city :(
This has easily become already one of my top favorites from Radiohead! I really hope they don't wait 4 years again to release an album. Of course it will be worth it but I can't wait that long!!
That synth part after broken hearts is breaking my mind how is that shit not popular in the slightest it's one of the best musical things I've ever heard
unfortunately the synth on the album version doesn't hit the same.
As much as I like the album version of this song I prefer this version
nice pfp (so ur a radiohead and the strokes fan too :)
Thanks so much for the download link. Radiohead makes music so much more potent than anybody else out there.
love this song, with Skirting on the Surface are one of the best new songs they had. I love the game between Thom and Ed voices *-*
The drum beat at the beginning sounds _so much_ like the sampled drum beat in Massive Attack's Teardrop.
Now I want Radiohead to actually record a new version of Identikit using that sampled beat.
I don't really see this as an Idioteque? That's more like Lotus Flower. This is like 15 Step and Separator's bastard
***** Yes!
I think it's the urgency, the frantic repetition and his vocal tone that make it like Idioteque
Sounds like the best Song Alt-J never made
yea i could imagine alt-j playing this, this version of identikit sounds like something that would come out on "An Awesome Wave"... would be awesome though!
Do we actually know if there is going to be an album version of this?
the only band that can amaze with any song...best band ever!
Not sure if it will be their best, these songs are a bit more poppy compared to OK Computer or Kid A (what I consider their best stuff), but one thing's for sure.. it will be utterly incredible. Huge shift from The King of Limbs' sound, much more mature.. seems like their becoming more in touch with rhythms and grooves through electronics and synths that they've been trying to perfect while still keeping their older rock style.
I hope it doesn't sound dramatically different on the album because I love this song. I remember adoring Four Minute Warning at live shows and then being so disappointed by the studio version.
Beautiful song. So fortunate to have seen it live. I have on repeat now.
I love this new style...In my opinion, it sounds like a return to some of their previous tonalities used in OK Computer and In Rainbows, yet stylistically very much like King of the Limbs and Hail to the Thief. Either way, I can't wait to hear their next album.
I love this. Heard it for the first time last night at the Radiohead concert in Auckland, New Zealand. Fantastic.
Chills and tears. Holy shit, I cannot wait for the studio version. This is just as good! UGHHH. NEW ALBUM PLEASE.
the bridge at 1.40 secs is amazing! they fucked it up in the studio.
that synth section is very good, i'd like to hear more sections of the song like that
I read that title as" _every_ version" and I thought, 'how can there be that many in three minutes..?'
Thanks a lot for this! I'm sure I'll be speaking for all Radiohead fans when I say that I'm excited for future recordings if this the kind of amazing work that Radiohead are producing!
Already addicted to this song!
Man. I just ate this song uuuuup. Where those synths come in, I lose it.
Such a gorgeous song
favorite radiohead song
my favorite of the new songs
If this is what the next album is like, I can't wait! TKOL with the kinks worked out.
shit! Ed and Thom's voices fit very good together!
This is perfect.
This is heavenly .
@Dalton, Thats my favourite part! yeah its abrupt but i love how it changes the flavour
Can't stop clicking play after the song's ended. This is the 5th time in a row I'm hearing this.
I close my eyes and think about my life whenever I listen to this song.maybe it's because of these wonderful drum work.maybe it's just because they all feel the song.eitherway,it's simply great.
Oh thanks, and a happy one to you as well! : )
That is all I ever wanted.
saw/heard this song live on their TKoL tour, it was fukkin crazy mate, i wanna hear studio version so beyyddd
Thank you!!!
awesome quality
Saw it in STL in March, one of the first 6 shows they debut'd it.... I FELT FULFILLED! (also very high on MDMA)
thank you
I'll watch that.
I loooooove this song!! thanks for uploading ;)
Best version
You know who the real fans are when videos like this have this amount of views.
gorgeous guitar parts!!! I have VERY high hopes for their new album! I can't wait~
this song rules
They recorded this a few days before they played Bonnaroo last year at Jack White's studio in Nashville actually. It's still not ready apparently :( But ya they wrote this and Ful Stop after KOL was released.
love the music AND the photo :)
I feel like this is it, after this one, they're gonna be done, I HAVE TO SEE THEM AT LEAST ONCE!
this is the only radiohead song since twisted words that i've been interested in.
When was twisted words released?
2009?
That happened to me with Stairway. I fucking love it now.
This song got me back into listening to old video game music. I wonder why. xD
can´t wait to hear a new record with this on it!
Great song
thanks a lot!!!
This is incredible!!
Ed's backing vocals though.
I love how trappy the drumming is lmao
He definitely wasn't involved in recording but we don't know what his role was in how they transferred the songs to a live setting, or if he was involved in the creative process of the newer songs like Cut a Hole and this so he's a touring member at least, maybe a full member in the future, who knows
Love how he says bollocks at the beginning. A great touch missing from the studio version smh
GRACIAS POR DEJAR EL LINK =)
So disappointing to miss them in Toronto last night, very unfortunate situation though.
So fucking beautiful.
this is a beautiful creation BROKEN HEARTS MAKE IT RAIN but dude that album version killed whatever potential this had into a watery vapid thing, atleast they realized the potential of the chorus and extended it.
I love the studio version... but I also love this damn
Clive Deamer, currently a live member of Radiohead. Amazing drummer.
Looks like we are not gonna see a new radiohead album for at least a year. I know it'll be worth the wait but I was just really hoping that this year would bring us a new album. Well at least we had atoms for peace to kinda hold us over til then.
Never say never! I was wondering if they were ever going to come to New Zealand again, it took them 14 years...
Anyone that dislikes the "awkward change" part, go listen to foxygen and learn to appreciate those type of awesome changes. This song is not bad at all. The entire thing is brilliant
I do. It doesn't automatically make it good.
I mean I still like it, as such, but I don't LOVE it, and I do like the part of the song before that change more.
I always know this is the version im looking for cuz of the bollocks at the beginning lol
According to rolling stones, radiohead will begin recording their next album this coming fall. I really hope they'll include this song in their next album. This song is amazing.
This song is really fuckin good!
I think this song is about the disadvantages of having a habitually cynical attitude about life. The speaker knows that someone is taking advantage of him, but he wishes he could just ignore this and live his life happily. This is evident in the lyrics "I see you messing me around/ I don't want to know." It's the internal conflict in deciding between battling the many injustices around us or just accepting them and pretending to be satisfied.
That one riff sounds very cosmogramma. They're defiantly playing with a new style.
I agree totally with this
I'm really hoping for a Live From the Basement version of the album!
1:41 Is there any other music that has *this* exact type of sound? I'd love to hear some more!
it kinda has a gorillaz vibe, especially plastic beach!
ça reste la meilleure version !
