Thanks for taking the time to review… for those watching, scrub to the 3:15 mark. That’s the point. A simple + fun GoPro for $199, with a screen on back to boot. If you need all the other features you say we are missing, that is what our $399 HERO13 Black or the HERO12 Black is for 🙌
Scrub to 5:13 and explain why that is worth $200. I can get an akaso that will do that and probably comes with a bunch of accessories. It's not our fault you guys barely marketed this thing so nobody knows why you even bothered. I would love a small GoPro, but the ball just keeps getting dropped. It's not shaped in a way that makes it provide unique opportunities and the video is limited to what, like hero 6 quality? Just bring back the session, it's really that easy.
ANOTHER missed opportunity, I was going to buy it and use it as a second camera and helmet mount it but the quality just isn’t good enough. The sessions was a great camera, I can’t understand how GoPro have failed to develop it
Good camera to train up on. Remember filmmakers, "it's not the camera, it's the filmmaker that makes a good video" limitations are good to adjust your style and strengthen your shooting muscles.
I love the minimalist style & use. I wasted a lot of time, energy and exhausted my thoughts over all settings more than a real videographer. I'm not doing a film for Oscar anyway, so I would buy these and take it in very very calmly.
I have this, my first action camera. I didn’t want to spend fortunes as I wasn’t sure what the future held for me. I’ve been using this daily for my commute to and from work on an E-scooter. I use it with the GoPro clip. For me it’s perfect. I film each trip and if no incidents i then delete the footage without downloading it.. if there is an incident, then it’s easy enough to download to iPad and save to my camera roll and to iCloud .. going forward with what I’ll be doing, I’ll need a better camera with more features. But for those just filming their commute it’s perfect. I did also use it when I was driving and was perfect too. Simple easy camera for basic use.
I would buy a couple new sessions in a heart beat if they brought it back! It would have to have stabilization, at least 60 min run time and different video and photo modes great honest review!
I also have hope for a new sessions in the last few years. Like the form factor. It could be awesome if it also have the same stabilization as the hero 13
@AirPhotography how fast/slow was the transfer from gopro to app? Does it use blue tooth or Wifi for the transfer? Do you end up having to turn off wifi so it doesn't eat your battery?
Hopefully they unlock some more settings in the future via firmware upgrade. Like fixed shutter speed/iso is like a no-brainer. I still ordered it with a massive discount to use it on my Analog drones.
I think it was a good idea.... That frame rate, and stabilization though... I think that was a big miss. Caddx Walnut has better features and is pretty much a session knockoff
Never had an action camera before but I’m interested in filming some mtb trail riding all I know is I need peripheral vision and 30fps for some motion blur so my footage looks quick it’s only going on instagram too, £200 seems ok so is this a good choice for my first action camera?
NOOOOO get a hero 11 mini its way better. If you want a screen and a still small camara and can deal with less battery get an action 2. If you dont care about size, get a hero 11 black or an action 4 from DJI.
Do you have any other camera recommendations around the same price range? I watched your video on the DJI OSMO Action 4 but im not sure which one is better for my buck
great review! i love mine. i have the 9 and 11mini but the hero4k does it for my dji fpv. drone is a already a potato but not it can def fit in spots i fly it thru. gave it a @Gopro life vest to protect it better and still smaller than 11mini. plus it has a screen on it and its quick to grab mount to fpv and its ready!
Overheating when connected to a powerbank? I am in the marked of buying the GoProHero but only need it for still-video (hanging over a backgammon board :) ... Does anyone have an idea if that would cause overheating since the battery is build-in? The 'normal' GoPro i have used for years but had to remove the battery first, otherwise it overheated.
Seems fine to me. How many people need wide FOV, color gradation, frame rate and all that garbage? The reality on almost any tech is that 80%of the people use 20% of the features. And as he mentions you can stabilize in the app. The reality is that it’s fun. Most of us really aren’t interested in looking at your ‘Hollywood’ quality videos anyway. This guy is a camera geek who is obessed. Simple is ALWAYS better. You don’t need all the Bells and Whistles
I understand what you’re saying, but I think field of view is huge because sometimes you need a wide field of view but other times you want no distortion and you wanna linear field of view. And I always film at 60 frames per second so 30 frames is very limiting. Those are just basic features
think i'll stick to my Hero 11 and 11 Black Mini for FPV flying. this Hero 4k isn't worth it, only the weight is an upgrade, video qualtiy wise.... not so much. bummer.
I really don't get why GoPro can't do small form factor. It's not a hard nut to crack. They clearly don't understand that being smaller is not enough and that the shape.needs to provide unique use cases, like the osmo2 and the go. The go has resolution limitations and from my experiences is a pain to use, but it's unique enough that it's still compelling. This is just a worse go pro.
Probably one of the worst things GoPro has spent money developing in a long time. If they had included the option to change FOV and customize image settings, it would’ve been WAY more usable.
Yup same, almost out. Dji action 5 pro seems over hyped I’m really excited to see what insta360 brings to the market hopefully correcting the many flaws of the first version.
@@10fantic I've been using mine for a week, it's real good but not great, in the pros: battery life is mind blowing, never overheat, you can leave it open and everything's good. Internal storage is a banger. Film real fast...in the cons...the 80mb/s is a bummer versus the 120/130mb/s were used to. Little things too....like the battery door that you almost need a crowbar to open, inside it's good but outside, with the hands cold a bit, I'll try for 2 minutes before finally opening it and you'll hit the rec bottom 3-4 times while trying to grab the camera
I agree, DJI was able to make a camera smaller than than and still have significantly better specs so I don't know why gopros making L cameras like this
I disagree..drone flyers are already running these at our local drone pad... DJI 2 was a massive failure... It failed and was so glitchy ..it suffered from what you guys berate gopros for... Hero 5 session is my favorite.. especially for go pro labs....I have 2
May as well buy an “old” hero 10 black it would be better and cheaper than this. This product seems like a massive L considering how limited its capabilities are. Just another odd decision by GoPro and why they’re struggling in today’s market.

The only channel that actually gave a size reference. Amazing content you’ve gained a follower
Thank you very much. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and welcome aboard.
Still use my Session5 for static shots, connected to a crop clip for attaching to trees.

What type of bike do you have? I love your bike, and I need one like yours. You can go 45 miles per hour on a bicycle. That is fast.
What the point of this camera if gopro 11 is available almost with the same price and seems like it is overall better camera?
size and weight
Worth it for motorcycle uses dashcam? Just need affordable, good quality camera. Or just go for drift ghost?

I don’t think it would work very well for that

DJI or insta360 have some pretty solid products
My GoPro Hero 12 has been clutch for me. Just depends on application
Can you zoom in and out on the GoPro Hero 4K?
Unfortunately, no, it does not support Zoom
You should make a comparison with the Gopro hero vs Gopro 5 session

A Hero 11 Mini on sale for $279 Cdn as they are from time to time is a better buy that the Hero 4k, as I see it.
Does the 11 Mini have stabilisation?
Yes, it does it essentially as a full feature to GoPro
Why the lens isn’t centered is beyond me.
Curious. What difference would that make?
