Every time things go bad in my battles and their is a hill I go to the hill and make a square or L depending where it is to prevent flanks and I might take a few casualties, but that’s just war and I come out victorious
I have a decent idea though its based of the campaign AI (because i dont play multiplayer) what i do is for a giant line but on the side where enemies arent gonna go, i curl them, so basically, they open fire and i curl the side until im pushing the enemy on two fronts, or if im lucky, entirely encircle them.
Yes that is something to watch out for, but it depends on context. Sometimes you want your line infantry closer if you're advancing or repelling an attack. If you are however plinking back and forth, then yes, having them further away can prevent stray fire from killing them.
Hey I have a question. What is this defensive mode for that you can turn on in the units, next to the automatic firing? This shield symbol. Is there any difference any pro or cons? I have also often seen how the enemy had up to 160 soldiers in one unit, mine comes to just 80 or 60 depending on which troops. Can you combine them. I don't mean groupings.
Hi Matt! The shield icon is called "guard mode". When it's off, you may have noticed that your units may creep up automatically from their position to get some shots if the enemy is close enough. Furthermore, your units will chase the enemy if they decide to route whether they were in melee or just exchanging fire. Enabling the shield icon prevents your troops from re-adjusting their formation as well as chasing any enemies that route. As for the regiment sizes, it depends what kind of game mode you join. Some battles have the troop size set to large or ultra (120 - 160), and others are small (80 or 60). If you want to have larger regiment sizes, join battles that have large or ultra unit size. Hope that helps!
Can you give some tips for winning as Austria in the campaign? I have issues in even medium difficulty, France and its allies keep harrassing me, and my economy is so shitty, hard to keep up. Also I dont get any help from my allies( Russia, England)
Yes! Just got busy with university and chemical engineering stuff. I promise we will have something for you guys in March. Until then, feel free to check out our blog! (link in desc) We got lots of articles and guides on Napoleon Total War there!
@@brothersinarmsgaming6712 YAY! Id love to see more Napoleon total war, theres not alot of vids being made anymore on it. This video got me way ahead. I got it a week ago... and Ive won a major amount of multiplayer battles (about 80%). So thank yall so much!
You might be able to mess around with the settings. But I am unsure. I honestly got used to just manually clicking the button, but in crazy situations you can double right click. I also would not recommend having all units default to run. Most troops only need to walk to where you want to send them, and you would only risk tiring them out. If you know what map you're playing, you can select a Nation that has better cardio for that environment. Ottomans are good in hot maps, and Russians tend to not tire as fast as other nations in the snow.
@@brothersinarmsgaming6712 at times it just resets while moving, I put em on run and then before they reach the point they go walking again, losing a strategic position.
Just wait for a sale on the Steam Store, it usually goes for pretty cheap. And if you get the definitive edition (which is the only version they're selling), you get all DLC's free :)

Glad I could help! Got another video coming in the next 2 days on artillery! :)

I think this is called “rolling up the enemy’s flank”.
Thank you, very useful
Anytime! Once we have more time we will add some more tactics and tips!
Hi I’m new and the game is a lot better
Thanks for this
Dont place ur lineinf right behind ur lights! If the classic lights vs lights fight starts ur lineinf gets casualties from missing shots

@@brothersinarmsgaming6712 u can vary the distance between the lights and line but clousest should be 20 range.
