Something you missed is the part where Vegeta is saying "Nine Minutes, Eighteen Seconds" being the happiest moment of his life is the video timestamp when he kills Nappa. That's why the last scene showing Vegeta is him standing there smiling.

Actually the tears in Piccolo's eyes were in the original. In the actual DBZ, Piccolo was actually glad to spend time with Gohan and considered him his first real friend.

Piccolo actually did cry in the source material. In his final moments with Gohan at his side, Piccolo reflected on the year he spend with Gohan and it made him emotional. For he did bond with a human for the first time in his life that didn't consider him evil in that year. Piccolo's last words in the source material where "I am proud of you" before passing on~

That intro was great. Also, The line Vegeta says about "9 minutes and 18 seconds is the happiest moment in his life" is the time stamp in the same video where he kills Nappa and smiles after.

DBZA started out as a Dragonball parody.
But it became a love letter to the original and a series set in its own universe in its own right.
For me, it will always be an unofficial part of the Dragonball Multiverse (consisting out of the Anime, the Manga, the Movies, a whole lot of games and DBZA).

I think you are forgetting two things:
1. Dragonaball is a japanese franchise. Therefore, as with any non-american show, casting in america is done via a local branch, not the main japanese company, in this case Toei or Fuji TV.
2. Unless it's a case like with South Park, where creators and writers Matt Stone and Trey Parker do voice acting, too, VA's are not tied to a company like Toei and especially not a manga publisher like Shueisha. They are free people who are contracted to lend their voices to a certain character for either a season, a series, an episode or a recurring character and they only stay as long as they have their contracts. They can, of course, have multiple contracts at once running at the same time ensuring they stay with a company for years, as is the case with Nickelodeon and Tara Strong, but it's never an exclusive deal.
So as much as I would love it if DBZA would be officially recognized by the owners and original creators of Dragonball, unfortunately, having a VA, especially someone from a country the series didn't originate from, on board voicing a parody version of their character does not constitute official recognition by Akira Toriyama, Toei or Shueisha.

Wut? They did not draw those tears. Piccolo legitimately cried in Dragon Ball Z when he died, specifically because he finally felt like he found someone he cared for and had regrets for some of the bad things he had done in his life

Also Kami and Piccolo are tied to the same lifespan so killing one kills the other, since they are two halves of the same Namekian, and since Kami is the one who powers the dragon balls killing him means the balls don't work.
I got a fun fact for you though, the iconic 'It's over 9000' is actually an English-only thing! In the original manga translation, Goku's power level is over 8000, dubbings in different languages also stick to 8000 rather than 9, the reason English picked 9000 was because it matched the lip flaps better and 9000 sounded more emphasised than 8000.
Not sure how far ahead you guys are but you should definitely upload all 3 parts of episode 10. Its only about 30 minutes combined and they're all just 1 big episode put together.

Goku is literally dead. Why do people call him an absentee father when we literally see him hanging out with his son in the beginning of the show and at this point is only gone because he is dead.
This never makes any sense to me as you would never say someone’s dad is anything negative just because they are dead.
It's mostly a joke that just took on a life of its own.
They tend to do that if you repeat them often enough.

The Namekian race is divided up into two classes. 20% of the race is made of the warrior clan, and the other 80% are known as The Dragon clan which are like magicians or spellcasters. The Dragon clan is the type of Namekian that is able to create the dragon balls. Centuries prior to the main series, the planet namek had a global weather disaster on it hand. During that time, a certain Namekian was shipped out on a spaceship by his parents which arrived on Earth, and after spending decades on the surface of the Earth. This Namekian went up to the Lookout eventually became New guardian of the Earth. But in the process he had to remove his impurity and hate. And thus, King Piccolo was born from the Guardian that we know today as Kami, Guardian of the Earth. In other words if Kami is God, then King Piccolo, or Piccolo Jr. (King Piccolo's reincarnation) is the embodiment of evil or the Devil.
Im also one whos never seen the actual anime and never plan to cause abridged. Btw the nine minutes vegata was spouting was until nappas death. If you look he broke the fourth wall there lol. Also i think you missed krillin talking bout how choutsu was here and there and there cause how he exploded.

It's actually sad to hear that people can't watch DBZ anymore because they got too used to this. That just gives Toei even more ammo to use against them as well as they miss out on the og story.
Exactly, it takes the essence out of the story. And i don't think picolo dying and his redemption should be laughed at. Those who didn't watch the OG dragon ball won't know and especially the people who watch abridged will just laugh at it, so yeah.....

I said I'm sad that the people who have never seen DBZ and won't because they have DBZA, they're missing out on a lot of good vegeta stuff in the Buu Saga with that mindset. Not to mention im sure Kaisernekko who says that DBZA is not a replacement would also be sad people choose not to experience something he loves the same way I'm sad they won't experience the original series I love.

Personally, I don't think DBZA can act as a general replacement for the actual work (and TFS themselves certainly doesn't want you to think that way), but it's not hard to see the appeal of it.
I mean, above it all, there's something nice about how much shorter it is. Even DBZ Kai is still pretty long. (But it really is the best way to watch the show in English rn)
Still there's a lotta important details you just kinda end up missing, and many things are more different than people tend to remember. (Scott has admitted before he thinks DBZA prolly contributed to people thinking Goku is a worse father than he is for example)
I'd say if someone *really* wants to get into the franchise they should watch DBZ Kai, but I don't judge folks who for their own reasons are more interested in just watching DBZA.
...Now if only there were a way for folks to be able to watch OG DB more easily 🤔

Like you guys said there are movies and there's a reason to watch them before some episodes bc they have some quotes that fill in the gaps in the series and vice versa plus at the end of each saga we suggest that you watch a episode of dragon ball z Kai abridged wich is a recap of DBZA but more crazy and funny
Goku being a bad father is a thing only in the abridged series. Goku may have some quirks, but he is serious about his responsabilities.

Literally kills nappa at 9 minutes 15 seconds, which is what vageta was chanting near the beginning. When I caught this on my second watch through It got me a nice chuckle

Absolutely, I've always wished there was some bite sized version of dbz so I could re-watch it. The plot, character personalities, (many) voices, are so close that it counts
Just to point it out, when Vegeta has his aneurism at Nappa he starts muttering 9 minutes and 14 seconds over and over. That's how long it is until he gets to blow him up in the show lol

No, Goku did not kill nappa. Vegeta did, since nappa end up crippled after fight, and Vegeta Had no more use of him.

The best part about DBZA is they didn’t really change most characters all that much 😂
They really didn't, which is the perfect level of parody. They pushed some character traits to a bit more of an extreme, but pretty well everyone is recognizable for who they are.
The one they changed the most was Popo and even then he was still weirdly strong in the original.
That's me. Never seen DBZ, only this. And it's great. And I, too, have no plans to watch Dragon Ball Z proper.

Goku is not an absentee father, he was literally dead, for a year, while his enemy, the son of the man who took over the world and killed his friends, kidnapped his son after killing him.

8:28 Considering Gohan is a small boy, and piccolo is big, and the stance he takes for his sacrifice there is a clear opening right between his legs directly at Gohan. So honestly his "sacrifice" shouldn't have shielded Gohan from the attack.

There is no tear on Goku's eye, it's Piccolo that he was asking about. It was not drawn in, Piccolo really did have tears in his eyes while talking to Gohan there. Also, Goku did not kill Nappa at the end there, Vegeta did.

You miss my point you are one of the few good react channels out there but you are starting to get carried away with the amount of stuff your reacting to in a week there have already been several moments where you have been watching a show and completely missed important moments or facts because you simply don't remember the last episode cause you keep switching between different shows rather than finishing one and starting another there are several other react channels that do the same thing like the normies and renegades media.

@@MidnightEkaki spent years with his family and Gohan from end of DB to DBZ. Then died for his kid, came back to life and saved his kid and became really injured.
Gohan decides to go to Namek where Goku arrives just in time to save him. After this he is gone for a year or so on another planet learning a technique that lets him instantly transmit something that would of allowed him to save his friends in the previous fights.
Between the Frieza Saga and and Android saga Goku spent more time with his family and training and even wanted to spend a year alone training with his son.
Now Goku didn’t realize Gohan didn’t like training but Goku didn’t know this because it is literally against Goku’s DNA and all those surrounding him are fighters, but once he noticed this he never pressured his kid to fight or train and only supported his dreams.

You guys are good to watch movie 1-4 before jumping to season 2. TFS made movie 2 waaaay later so the quality is a huge jump over everything else, but the continuity won't matter.
The cool thing is you could enjoy it if you’ve never seen the DB series and you could also enjoy it if you watched the series with all the Easter eggs they put in here

0:30 is exactly how I feel about this series, anytime I would ever want to watch DBZ I would watch DBZA over the actual series.
Its way funnier so that would make sense also its way shorter
@@senpai5175 yeah, it's short while still covering all the major plot points, the characters are all made into sort joke versions of themselves but still remain weirdly faithful to their actual characters, and even aside from it having good humor, it even handles a decent portion of the more serious parts much better than the standard show does.
I can't watch the original DBZ anymore, even without blaming DBZA. The original just has awful pacing. Eventually I'm going to watch DBZ Kai, though. That sounds like a big improvement.
It is. DBZ Kai has like the average 2-4 manga chapters per episode across 167 episodes with the dialogue in the English Dub being more accurate to the manga and most of the voices sounds better (except Gohan, which is weird because I'm fine with Luffy's english voice in One Piece).
I did happen to hear Gohan's new voice. I will miss his old voice.
abridged is _not_ better than than Z. It only works because it's a _parody._ It isn't just _improved DBZ,_ it works because it's _referential..._
Z was _way_ more fun to watch, as a kid. WAY more exciting, gripping, nail-biting, hanging on to every moment, waiting week to week kind of good.
lookup Toonami sometime. their ship intros, and then their show intros n outros. made watching all the sweeter.
oh and their lessons... and music. and orginal AMVs [anime music videos] space is the place, don't fear failure
the Bruce Falconer hard rock tracks really made a huge-big difference too. they _literally_ rocked the Dragon, lol.
Nappa was the funniest character in the beginning really made the whole start of DBA so enjoyable
