Absolutely love this song, it is a hidden 💎 Gem for sure!🤘🏼🤘🏼
For sure.
I've always considered this to be one of their greatest, yet oddly overlooked songs.
did van halen ever get this funky again ...great stuff
Alex Van Halen is a bad ass drummer. He and Michael Anthony as a rhythm section really drove Van Halen's music. One of the differences between the first and second albums was they played the songs on the first album for several years as a band before they recorded it and was pretty much their best material at the time.. The second album was done pretty quickly after the huge success of the first one so the songs probably weren't quite as good but still excellent. Can't wait for you to get to Fair Warning, my favorite album of theirs.
When VH finished their first tour, their record label told them that they were in debt, so they need to record a new album and get back on tour immediately. This whole album was made and recorded in 2-3 weeks.
One of my personal favorites.
VH II was the first album I bought by them as a 13 yr old kid in 1979. Still love it after all these years. Can’t wait to see you react to “Beautiful Girls” to finish this killer album!
This is a killer. One of my favorites.
My favorite tunes on this excellent follow up record are “Light up the sky” and then the two closing songs, “Woman in Love” and “Beautiful Girls”. I love the way those two songs sound back to back.
You got it spot on Biz! This wasn't called ARENA ROCK for nothing!
Fucking classic VHII
You've actually done part of "Eruption". The studio version is 102 seconds long. A 40-second version leads into the "You Really Got Me" official video which you did two years ago. So yeah, do all of "Eruption."
This is my favorite song from this album!
OUTTA LOVE!!!!
Heard Alex say he would get the biggest heaviest drum sticks he could find and turn them around backwards
It's close between this one and D.O.A. which you reacted to already as my favorite. Beautiful Girls is great too. 1984 is another great album. You've done the big hits off that album. But can't wait til you do the deeper cuts which are all great
HI Biz !! Another great reaction!! You are the best
Biz, can I suggest you do “Spanish Fly”, (Eddie’s acoustic instrumental) and “DOA” together because the instrumental is only one minute long and you can hear DOA again because they are back to back and the sequence in their recordings are important. It’s cool to hear the contrast from one tune to the next.
Also, “Spanish Fly” is Eddie’s take on flamenco guitar. You might say, it’s a follow up to the first records instrumental, “Eruption”.
You should really go back first and react to that studio version, trust.
It’s the whole point of the first record, haha. The “Eruption” studio version changed the world.
Outta Biz Again.
Eddie: Hey, Alex, you should just go crazy on this track from start to finish.
Alex: Like this?
VH Warrior!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪
One of my favorite VH songs the groove and rhythm, how tight this is is incredible. The solo I love how he hangs on that one note a bit then shreds again
My old band used to do this song.
Being a drummer I love this song !
Saw them on the first five tours, first two were Texxas Jams, missed the last one with Dave (1984). Good times back when you went for the show not the selfies.
4 blessed talented Men❤
This is an oft overlooked banger of a tune. I totally feel you on the VH I vs. VH II comparison. I felt the same way back in 79 when this came out. These tunes kind of felt like leftovers after experiencing the release of VH1. But VH I was like a band of aliens landed when it came out. There was nothing like it. So yeah the next album had a high bar. I'd still recommend continuing on through the Roth era albums. EAch one has a different feell to them to me anyway. but I was teenage guitar player trying to understand how tf those sounds were being made before there was a youtube so I could listen to these over and over and not really pay much attention to the lyrical content.
Cool song !
What a follow up album….unreal
Very underrated song. Alex and Eddie are very tight on this one. Love VH and love your reactions
Favorite VH album "Fair Warning" ... Favorite song on this album (VH II) "Light Up The Sky"
This song inspired me to be a drummer. Amazing song. Glad you enjoyed it!
EVH and AVH were in tune with each other musically, and that's how Ed would play percussively at guitar with Alex! Awesome reaction!
I so enjoy watching you and others discover the music from my teen years in the 70s. It is so different from how I found new music back in my day. You heard new songs from new bands on your favorite radio station. You were with friends or at a party and they would play an album from a band you knew nothing of. Or an album from a band you were familiar with but never heard before. My favorite was going to my record store (Homefolks News and Records). We would comb thru the selections of albums looking for a specific album or band. Or looking for something new just to give it a try. I bought albums sometimes just because I liked their album cover art work. Van Halen was one I discovered like that just because their album cover was cool. Tom Petty was another one. Guess it was just luck of the draw pun intended. Augusta Ga.
En Fuego!
Eddie had the Brown sound dialed in.
Best showcase of Alex's talent until 1984
definitely please do the original "Eruption" if only for the historical significance...ALL the fellas Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and uncounted others were inspired by this track!!!!!
Best description I've heard of Ed's solo in this is if James Brown's feet could play guitar, this is what it would sound like.
I cannot wait to hear your reaction to Van Halen's FAIR WARNING!!!
Although the first five Van Halen albums were recorded at Sunset Sound Records. Los Angeles, this record was, in fact mixed at a different studio, I believe in Chatsworth. Biz, good ear!
Love this Album keep listening you’ll love it
BORN AGAIN ROCK 🇺🇸. AMERICAN ROCK ! SO SICK GREAT REACTION ! 💯
That riff is crazy but Alwx shows out on this one. 🔥
In my top five VH songs!!
Hey Biz, how about David’s whistle register??? How about Alex Van Halen’s drums!!! How about Mikey’s base and background vocals??? And Eddie’s wicked guitar work!!! 😎
Still makes the hair on my arms stand up!!
Picking a favorite from this one is tough a lot good songs. I can narrow it down to two..."D.O.A." or "Light Up The Sky". I think they just recorded the first album hotter. Meaning they were pushing the the recording levels much more. Maybe it was just a better studio with better recording gear. Better two inch tape. Who knows, but there is a major sonic difference. Maybe they had rush this one just a bit. The songs are great though.
Alex KILLS IT on this song!!!
This is the SONG.
Eddie Van Halen is the G.O. A. T. and his brother Alex is a genius on drums.
This song rips, and holy 💩 Dave is a mad man on this one!
Alex is a beast!
Gene Simons of Kiss help discover them and produced the first Album
Do another Van Halen album and come back
If you dig that riff you should check out Way Back to the Bone by Trapeze. Almost positive Eddie got some inspiration from that song 🤘
❤
Do Sinners Swing from Fair Warning
I say, do the studio version of eruption. It's 10 times better.
I saw VH the first time with Balack Sabbath and they just blew them completely off the stage - it was embarrassing - ask Ozzy. He said the same thing. Beautiful Girls is coming up! Roth is at his Best!
Vinyl played through a decent solid state amp and good quality speakers!
NO WAY Sammy and his team could ever get anything of this quality - Sam couldn't write OR sing this!
_FAIR WARNING_ is THE guitar players go-to album!
After the huge success of the first album, the record company pushed them to release another album quickly. This album is mostly made up of songs that didn't make the cut on the first one. It's still great, but that's why it's not as good as the first. They didn't have time to write much new material and they had used their best stuff on the first record.
Did you?
@@watchbizmatik it’s in the songs background vocals. did you, did you
The Reverend Al.....King of Swing......AVH....
Alex VH
Van Halen is the absolute 💩
Eddie VH was the greatest guitarist I ever heard!! Guy was brilliant!!
The best ever. Mozart of the guitar. No one can compare.
