Also maybe しょう in しょうがない just comes from する or しよう so just literally translating to "there's nothing to do (about the scenario)" Im pretty sure ウイ comes from ウイすwhich is a kinda ギャル variation of オッス which is a shortened お疲れ Its really fun seeing how many stages japanese slang goes through to shorten things like the progression of Japanese "lol" from 笑ってる to 笑 to www to 草

In Portuguese 嘘 is translated as (mentira) lie and we also use "lie" (mentira) as a word for "no way". I'm learning Japanese and I've being seen how hard it is to English speakers to learn and so easier to Brazilians. Japanese to me is like Portuguese without some sounds (like la, le, li, lo, lu) and using another words and alphabet. But the sound, how to use words is so similar that I never questioned about "uso" (嘘). When I was learning English it was a shock learn that in English "lie" and "no way" is 2 words 😂
And to anyone interested in how japanese to me is easy... Aside for the Brazilian Portuguese accent sound so similar. In Portuguese whe have 11 verb tenses Some tenses I don't know how to translate to English But the verd to study in Portuguese is "Estudar" and has these 11 conjurations: 1 - estudo 2 - estudava 3 - estudei 4 - estudara 5 - estudarei 6 - estudaria 7 - estude 8 - estudasse 9 - estudar 10 - estuda 11 - estudes And is like that to everything 😂
when you started talking about sugoi i immediately said suge kanzen ni bareta nda i dont know where i got my slang since i just watch anime, but i also say "shanai" and "shane" like how wakaranai has wakanai oh the shane is probably another suge situation isnt it for kekko i find myself switching between kekko and nakanaka, because i use both of them to say "its pretty cool/etc." and also to say "often" like if i say "kekko warui desu ne" i feel like that means "youre often quite unruly arent you" just by adding the desu, the ne i dont think does much if i say kekko warui ne it still leans more towards the "its pretty bad" definition, but the desu really changes what i feel it means for mata ne i switch between that and ja ne, ja i think means like "then" i also switch the ne with na for some reason i dont know why the we ive heard that one but not just we im pretty sure this is the same thing "wesu" its like chisu which i think is like gyaru slang also im not sure if this is slang or dialect but in my mind palace theres this part that adds s to words that end with n, like "sonanska?" which originally is "sonano desu ka?" this might be in the same category as chisu im not sure where i got sonano or how to spell it in romaji but the definition is like "something like that" so if i say "sonano iu demo..." (even if you say that...) the sonano acts as a way to say that its everything that is similar to the subject in question so i figured out the romaji, its son'na no also i figured it out i dont think its gyaru slang its just that gyarus tend to use it probably, it replaces the desu with ssu so like mada desu ka becomes madassu ka the only slang i didnt know were ri (probably because i only know japanese verbally) and emoi

Years ago when I first started listening to ASMR there was a creator called Dreamerwhispers. She never got really big and stopped after only a few videos but I really enjoyed a couple of her soft spoken rambles. For some reason, your voice really reminds me of her. Check it out, especially the video "Softly speaking about recent happenings".
I kind of know how she feels when she knows what something means or how to use a certain phrase in japanese but can't translate it to english. I've had so many english lessons at school where I'll say a phrase or word and then the teacher asks me to explain it in dutch and I just can't because to me it just makes sense that that specific word or phrase is used that way but I don't know how to explain that in dutch because it's not the same. I'm very bad at explaining things XD
Japanese doesn't really have "swears." More like, impolite grammar. And the harsher you say a rude sounding phrase, the more explicit it sounds. Translating Japanese insults into actual swear words takes some creative liberty.
Where do I start learning Japanese? Not from anime or movies, but a good beginner place to start. I have heard Duolingo and other language apps are bad
