It's great seeing a fellow Canadian was blessed by the US Coast Guard in getting him off of the cruise ship. The US is a great neighbour. I appreciate all that the Coast Guard does. I really enjoy this show and seeing the dedication, skill and bravery of these men and women. Plus most of them are pretty easy to look at, haha. (I'm an old lady to many of them, so I can say that)
Watching grown men hug another grown man because they were that thankful for their lives that had just been saved is something special to see. This show is one of the best out there right now. I've been binge watching these for a week straight. Each one is more exciting and suspenseful then the next. I live in the Midwest so this is really awesome to see. Thanks for uploading these DANGER TV!

I can only imagine how people feel when it’s the worst day of your life, and they see a helicopter with person roping down to come save you. A literal knight in armor with a way cooler mode of transportation ❤ Bless the Coasties!
I’m a hugger and these are the men and women who absolutely deserve more than hugs. But it tickles me that they do what ever necessary because they are dedicated and love their jobs. I’m not sure a hug is enough. God bless each and everyone from California 💕🐶💕🐶👍
I love watching this show, it gives me an insight to what my brother did as a rescue swimmer in Alaska. In 1999 he was awarded the distinguished flying cross for a dangerous rescue mission. I'm extremely proud of my hero brother.
As you should be! That's amazing. This show is great - I've watched it a few times over, here on TH-cam. These men and women are brave, skilled and so dedicated to saving lives. We are lucky to have you (the USA) as our neighbours - it was nice seeing a fellow Canadian being rescued from the cruise ship. It's real, it happened to me. Was walking, gal dui, speeding, saw me , skid right into me. I was on bridge over a lil creek. I pulled my body into the metal guard rail. Feet on ground at curb. Hit me. Body was fine, but, sheared one leg off, and they thought the was but they found a pulse. Guy passenger came over. I said I need a tourniquet? Guy took off jacket, then T shirt. Tied t shirt around my leg . I had him put my leg on curb. I saw a bone . I didn't look again. Ambulance came, then helicopter. Somebody found foot and tossed it on my stomach as they put me in ambulance . I did have or feel pain, really. I wasn't bleeding/swelling internally, having that pressure. I didn't bleed much. I always remember, a guy from work , bled to death in 6 seconds, right in front of his house, from a drive by that hit him in the artery in the thigh. The one thing I did too. Everybody was all over me in er. A nurse came and bent down to talk to me, like reassuring. I asked if she would stay and hold my hand. She did, and that helped a lot.. Everybody was wonderful. Everybody . I knew I was being taken care of by experts. It was just like TV!

Hiya, who head butted the doc on the cruiser, he had badly wiped off blood on his forehead & maybe his teeth? Plus, "Anyone grab her foot?", "Yeah, I've got it in my pocket!!!" OK only a drill but I've been laughing ever since...
i realize, this is a high stress situation; but i can't imagine how, stress could make you wanna sit on the side of the basket then actually in the basket as instructed (and common sense dictates). aside from that, aren't this boatmen trained for rescue situation, you know, incase they need to be rescued.
I appreciate their high risk retrievals of patients, but not terribly impressed by their medicine. Why are we giving IV fluids for a patient who has pulmonary oedema, presumably secondary to his fast atrial fibrillation? Super- let's just give him more fluid to fill up his lungs! Having watched a few of these, I've found that unfortunately they just don't seem to have much medical training, and interventions such as fluids/O2 are given for the sake of doing something, with little understanding that these all have potential negative consequences when given unnecessarily. (I'm an ED Dr in Australia)
The coast guard does a fabulous job but are the corpsman and rescue swimmer trained in very limited medical knowledge? With pulmonary edema why are they blousing fluid? Not giving nitro, and sitting the patient upright?
I'm not positive but the military likes promotion, they run adds and try to draw inyoung people. this kind of stuff could inspire people to join the Coast Guard or the military. Thats what they want.
They will record everything they can. They will only use the video from people who sign releases. I have no doubt they have thousands of hours worth of footage
Most times they can't as it is not big enough to land their larger helos. It also means that they have to completely secure it while they have it landed. One of the key points of their mission is to grab and go! Get in, get the patient on board and then haul ass to the nearest appropriate medical facility.
Am I the only one wondering why those guys were rescued from the skiff ? They could see land .... drive there .... why leave the skiff floating free in the ocean. Makes no sense they all had suits 40+ degree water. Drive to land. Why ....?
Seeing land in the distance doesn't mean there's a shore you can reach safely, or even get to before dark. With 9 foot swells and such a small vessel, chances are you'll sink before you're even close to land. But say you're close enough to get there before the sun sets; you'll fight waves, bail incomming water and become hypothermic, absolutely exhausting yourself to get to land. What if you get there and it's all cliff and no beach? You pretty much just signed your own death certificate. I know Alaskans thrive on survival and self reliance but when you are responsible for the well-being of others, like the captain is of his crew, you have to opt safety over survival.

They are so in no fucking rush. No ready room, no fueled and ready helecoper, no rush getting to the helicopter. They are amazing but just a lot too relaxed when it is time to get the lead out.
It's not realistic to have a crew on deck ready to go at a moment's notice 24 hours a day 365 days a year at every air station in the US. The crew would be starting the mission already in a state of fatigue. Firefighters don't sit in the truck geared up to go either. The weather would also significantly affect the equipment as well, especially a piece of equipment as delicate as a helicopter. It's simply not feasible and would make the missions much more likely to fail in a catastrophic manner.
Having a physician with questionable English skills on an American cruise ship seems silly. Get a native speaker for God's sake..I worked in an ER for 11 years as a nurse, and everyone was a native speaker, or totally fluent. Not about race, it was about speed and comprehension..
Agreed, even tho people will say it’s racist. In those critical moments when ever second counts, you don’t want any issues comprehending your doctor. I’m sure if it was that big of an issue they would grab another employee that has worked closely with the Doc to be a “translator” or sorts if the patient doesn’t comprehend him.
I highly doubt that was an American ship.... as someone who worked in maritime industry in the past. 90% of those big ships are run by people who don’t speak a lick of English. Including captains ... even those big cruise ships down in the Caribbean.
It's not an American cruise line. Celebrity (and a lot of other cruise lines) fly flags of "convenience". Whatever country has the "best" labor laws in the area that the ship will be based is where the ship will be registered. Celebrity's parent company is Royal Caribbean who flies under the Flag of Malta and the Bahamian Flag (iirc).

They have EMT level training. Their job isn't to treat a condition. It is to keep the patient stable while in transit to an actual hospital.

I'm fairly sure the skiff has no engines or anything they can use to steer. (Please don't quote me on it as I'm not 100% sure)

Yes. In a previous episode they feature a girl training to be a rescue swimmer. One individual says he knew of 4 or 5 female swimmers.
