I've always loved the idea of champions, and maybe I am a bit biased but I agree with this list wholeheartedly as Leon is my favorite character out of all the Pokemon franchise. I love Cynthia and Leon as Champions, but people seem to forget how much character Leon has. Even other characters not being able to see past his mask as the Champion. Def loved to hear your opinions on all of these champions!
I 100% agree with your take on Leon. Truly, he has proven to be the strongest. (In truth, I feel if he would have held Ash to the "one gimmick" per battle, he would have destroyed the boy without even trying much, (just like he destroyed Alain and Diantha). (Plus, I can't deny that I much more would have preferred seeing a battle between Leon and Cynthia, more so than seeing Galar's Champion face Ash). As for my own Champion Ranking: 10. Geeta ; 9. Diantha ; 8. Alder ; 7. Iris ; 6. Wallace ; 5. Ash ; 4. Lance ; 3. Steven ; 2. Cynthia ; 1. Leon (I know it seems harsh to put Ash so low, but- In truth, I didn't like his Journeys team at all. And, the fact that he didn't use any of his older 'mons from previous regions throughout the duration of the series was a crime! Had they of done that, this series could have rivaled the Battle Frontier arc).
We spent 25 years following the journey of Ash Ketchum watching him go from rookie all the way to world champion and let me tell you it's not going to be easy to continue the Pokémon anime without him, but the growing success of Horizons proves that the anime can still be great even without Ash leading the charge.
@@jimmyhook4852 The thing is if they do bring Ash back it should be as the new world champion in Horizons where he can join as a temporary member of the Rising Volt Tacklers who will become a coach for Liko Roy and Dot but I just hope that Ash's return doesn't ruin things for the new protagonists otherwise what was the point of replacing Ash after all these years.
I dunno, I can easily see why many people would put Ash at number one since 25 years is nothing to sneeze at but I mostly agree with Nial Kelly and the amount of people treating Geeta is unfair and while who should of won is debatable but even so, I quite like her more than Wallace respectfully and realistically!!! 🤷🏻♀️😏

If the champions are ranked based on their battling skils in the anime alone, most of them would be under represented, since we only seen battles on their full potential for Ash, Leon and Cynthia. (Don't know to include Wallace and Diantha since their battles were off-screen but implied they battled at their best and lost). We haven't seen the full strength of champions like Lance, Steven, Alder, Iris and Geeta. If counting Alain as well, then we do know how good he is based on xyz but not how good he is at the time of masters 8 . If journeys had delivered on what they set out to do this wouldn't be the case (For the most part)
At least you only put the strongest champions in the anime but if you included the franchise as a whole... the RED (games, specially manga), lucas (DPPT, BDSP) and elio (USUM) would mop the entire pokemon universe. (rei and akari doesn't count because they aren't pokemon champions in PLA but in the powerscaling as a whole... then those two would easily solo them all)
Wallace may have gotten of screened by ash but I’d rather get beat by another champion who’s beaten legendaries than a couple of newbie kids. And I don’t care if glamora had the type disadvantage against floragato due to terastilzation or its overgrow ability or how smart the kids were in the battle it had help from 2 glimmet it was a relatively even battle I don’t want to be that guy but there is no reason why a real champion’s ace should lose to mons from kids who don’t have a badge to their names especially with help. I can agree to disagree but if Wallace is any comparable to steven as he claims I believe he should be above Geeta everyone else at least is placed well for the most part.

It is stated that she maybe stronger than Geeta, and Nemona naritivly plays the role of a champion in the games being battled after Geeta. Too late now though . I would but her above or below Alder.

Hard to say if he'll show up at all if there way any need of relevance to appear in Horizons since Carmine, Perrin, & Briar kinda show up & fill the role of being representations to the SV DLCs

Tyson did win the Hoenn League, but he failed to become Hoenn Champion. DP revealed that Wallace was Hoenn Champion until XY when Steven Stone took the Champion title from him. As for Tobias, well...fans are relieved that Cynthia is still Sinnoh Champion as of Gen VIII anime confirming that Tobias either failed to beat the Elite Four or Cynthia herself.

If we consider full team then Lance is stronger than Steven but in 1v1 Steven Mega Metagross can defeat Lance Dragonite or Gyrados
Cynthia can beat both Leon and Ash especially if she used her second ace Lucario.
