I think that from Pai's perspective, as a one night stand and casual hook ups guy, as long as he has no interest and isn't enjoying the guy's attention, it's not cheating, especially since he thought that Sky wasn't around to misinterpret it. To Sky, especially considering his past experiences, it is. This is why communication is important, we don't all share the same perspective, and even though some things are universal, a lot aren't and the only way to be on the same page is talking to each other. I bet there are a lot of things Pai doesn't think about or consider, since this is literally his first committed relationship.
