Unless you have a bass drum patch (Remo Falam Slam/Aquarian Kickapad) USE plastic beaters on your bass drum pedals. Felt & wood beaters breakdown the mesh heads.
The hole on the bass drum head is caused by the beater 'rubbing ' on the head as the head moves in and out. It's a friction burn effectively. Just buy a protective patch from any drum store, or cut up an old acoustic head and make your own (if you have one)

Just as you I got a brand new Strike Pro SE kit two weeks ago. Unfortunately, the hihat is double triggering when played on the edge zone. Also the edge zones of all cymbals have very low sensitivity. As a result to have to hit them with fairly extreme force which won't allow any dynamic playing. Is it really pure luck if you get a working Alesis Strike Pro SE or one with unsolvable flaws ?? I spend hours on the phone with the support and even more hours trying other online solutions (adjusting sens./thresholds, tweaking potential other Alesis module related issues). None of the tweaks resolved the issues. Although I really wanted to love this drumkit it had to go back due to the mentioned issues. I have been playing acoustic drums for 15 years. Now I need a solution for a hybrid/electronic set. Unfortunately I am back to square one. I will look at Roland (haven't seen trouble with double triggering there and the edge zones of cymbals area also playable with low force), or ATV or custom acoustic conversion. I am most puzzled about getting a good trigger module that allows a lot of customization and has high compatibility to triggers (such as Pearl Mimic Pro but something that won't cost an arm and a leg). The number of companies in that market seems to be fairly small. I was looking at eDRUMin 10 but the supply chain is limited. If people have opinions please share.
Just go Roland and save yourself the hassle. My 24 year old td10 still performs flawlessly. Original heads still. Alesis owners can argue all they want but only Yamaha and Roland are pro level equipment. I would buy used from either brand before buying anything Alesis.
@@johndef5075 I'm happy for you that your old kit is still going strong. People stick with what works. I went with what I could afford! In Australia, electronic drums are double the price you lot in the States and UK pay.

I'm thinking buying this kit, How loud is the kick drum and the set ? Like, can you hear it from another room, or outside the apartment ? cause I'm in an apartment thank for your feedback :)
Hi Jack. How loud it is depends entirely on what speaker system you have it connected to. However, if you're just using headphones, it's no louder than tapping on a table with your fingers. I can play my drums through the speaker system at a volume similar to how loud you play the radio, and my wife can be on the phone in the next room, and she can barely hear it!
@@bradsdrumcovers hey thank you for your feedback, yeah I'm thinking playing with a headphone, I was more concern about the noise I can do while playing (mostly rock/metal music) I can't even imagine my neighbours reaction🤣if it is too loud
First never use this kind of beaters on mesh head drum skin . use the plastic beaters head on the side of the plastic if it has 2 side (plastic/material)
Hi Ben. No, you need to buy a stool, a hi-hat stand and a kick-drum peddle. You also need some form of sound system or headphones, depending on how you're going to listen to it as you play.
Use plastic beaters on the mesh. Felt will melt the head even worse. Or you can get a bass drum head patch to extend the life of the head. I personally use shoe heel foam pads. They last forever and are super cheap!
Buyer beware. Had my strike pro se for 2 months and sent them back. My ride stopped working after about 12 hours and had to use my old roland cymbal . Too much lag between drum kits and the brain freezes when switching from stored kits and user kits. Loved the way they felt playing but to unreliable. Like I said returned mine for a roland 306 shell pack and using my Td-15 one less drum but I don't have to worry about roland reliability. The alesis is nice but a piece of crap. Not worth the 3 grand

Hey everyone. I won't be doing any covers for a while. My drums are permanently set up at a venue where I now play a few times a week and taking them down and setting them up all the time is a total pain! So once I finish this gig, I will return. Give it 12 months at least?! Stay tuned.
i have a question, does the high hat stand and the kick pedal come included aswell or do you have to but it separately
You'll need to buy your own hi-hat stand, kick pedal and throne (stool). It comes with a set of sticks.
@@bradsdrumcovers thank you so much
Nice video! How much space does it take up?
1.5 x 2 metres
@@bradsdrumcovers Thank you!
what sort of software are you using in the ipade for the music they look really cool i play bass but really thinking about getting a drum set at 52
Hi Garrett. It's just the standard Apple music ap; nothing special. Get yourself a set if you can afford it. I play at least 30 minutes each night! Great fun!! I'm 59.
@@bradsdrumcovers I’ve been playing bass the last year I spend about 3 to
4 hour a night practicing.maybe we could work on a song together do video?
@@Garrett-In-Canada Hi Garrett. Sounds interesting?! What song/s do you have in mind? You can see by my playlist the type of music I'm into. I'm not into anything made this century (other than The Warning). I'm only into predominately 70's and 80's rock. Send me a few song titles and I'll check them out!
@@bradsdrumcovers same I’m an 70s 80s guy myself let me get a few song together was thinking something like ZZ top Joe Walsh kiss AC/DC something along those lines
@@Garrett-In-Canada From that lot, being an Aussie, I know most AC/DC stuff up to Back in Black (pre-1980) and Thunderstruck of course. Kiss - Sure Know Something, Loving You, Rock n Roll All Night. ZZ Top - other than La Grange (which I've already done) I only know songs from the their 'Afterburner' album but have never tried to play to any yet! And I only know Joe Walsh's Eagles songs. So pick a few from that list and we can make a start. I'll then give you a few artists to see if you know any of them. Cheers.
Sorry to hear about all your kit problems Michael. I have no answers for you?! My kit is working beautifully and I love playing it.
Wondering if this fix will solve your hi-hat problem:
th-cam.com/video/axvr9C_xch4/w-d-xo.html
Just go Roland and save yourself the hassle. My 24 year old td10 still performs flawlessly. Original heads still. Alesis owners can argue all they want but only Yamaha and Roland are pro level equipment. I would buy used from either brand before buying anything Alesis.
@@johndef5075 I'm happy for you that your old kit is still going strong. People stick with what works. I went with what I could afford! In Australia, electronic drums are double the price you lot in the States and UK pay.
@@bradsdrumcovers the thing is I bought mine used for $750. 1/3 the price of a Strike. I wouldnt hesitate to buy used Roland or Yamaha as long as its not obviously abused. For example I just saw a used td30 for $2500 that is light years ahead of any Alesis strike at the same price.
hey mate.. what dimensions does the kit have?
not sure if it will fit in my small studio..
shout outs from Brisbane
Hey Daniel. The kit takes up about 1800mm x 1400mm, but you have to also have room for you to sit, so my whole kit area is 1800mm by 2000mm. Hope yours fits? Happy drumming. 😊
@@bradsdrumcovers thanks for your speedy reply mate..
you say 1800x2000 is that 2000 length wize? Or deep (including the throne) ?
Thanks in advance mate.. :D
Just got the same rum, what ipad support are you using?
I've just got an old iPad connected to the module with an earphone lead. I then record what's coming out of the module!
Yeah thank. I have a pad for it now; cheers.
Don't use Felt!
Also what app are you using on your iPad for music and recording please?
I just use the Apple Voice Recorder app. It turns the music into Mp3's for you so its easy to add the Mp3 file to iMovie when making your clips.
Thank you
Did it include the hi hat stand?
No. That is an extra you have to buy!
@@bradsdrumcovers thanks, appreciate the quick reply
where did you get the speaker mounts?
eBay
Which kit did you have it on when you played the first set? (Not 96)
38
Thank you
How much is it alesis is always expensive
The kit, together with the extras you also need (stool, kick pedals, hi-hat stand and postage and handling), cost me close to $5k Aussie dollars.
The kit doesn't come with everything I guess ,like some stands ? I'd hate to buy something then parts are missing
Hi Ben. No, you need to buy a stool, a hi-hat stand and a kick-drum peddle. You also need some form of sound system or headphones, depending on how you're going to listen to it as you play.
@@bradsdrumcovers thank you for the info I got two amps
How much is it? I'm from Nigeria
Sorry. I've got no idea how much things are over there!
Hola atodos
are you AU or NZ
I'm an Aussie. Its in my Description.
@@bradsdrumcovers well im next door, south island, and have been thinking of purchasing one of these systems
Use plastic beaters on the mesh. Felt will melt the head even worse. Or you can get a bass drum head patch to extend the life of the head. I personally use shoe heel foam pads. They last forever and are super cheap!
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into it. 🙂
Yeah. Felt beater will destroy a mesh head.
Hey Fritz. Sorry to hear you had issues with your kit. So far mine is faultless (other than the mesh head on the kick drum melting from the heat of the wooden beater). I'll wait and see how this goes; but so far, I'm loving it! Thanks for your feedback.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If your aim is this perfect, However having just transferred from Ekit to Acustic i won't be going back to Ekit.. Absolutely not even close to the real thing literally went from fully confident drummer to starting from scratch. Unless the best you want to do is jam in your room alone to a MP3 don't buy Electronic use Mutes instead
Yes, I just want to jam in my drum room and quiet enough not to annoy the neighbours.
once again...... no included stool. utterly baffling.
No hi-hat stand or kick drum beater either!
