WOW, What a build. I had to watch this twice to try and pick the hell out of it, LOL. I don't know about the recovery board table, It looks heavier than it needs to be and where does the mud fall to whilst it's drying, if it's full of mud, leaves, etc...?. Being able to use cold water for showers from a creek in a bucked is a bonus to conserve drinking water that you have to carry on board. And finally, condiments placed in containers in the fridge prevents a lot of cold air falling out when the fridge door is open. But having lithium probably negates this. I love the removable water tap, might have to adopt this method for mine. Overall, it's a really nice build, happy for you guys, keep up the good work. P.S. I do miss Elsie.
Hey mate cheers thanks for the comment :) there are small drainage holes for the maxtrax table but it would need to be washed out with a hose if it was full of mud and dirt. Good idea with the containers!
this is so awesome! i just got myself a troopy and im planning to deck it out and live in while im on my week off from mining over here in WA. this is giving me some great ideas cheers guys
Nice one Matt & Holly - great episode and loved seeing the finished product - that is if it is ever finished😋, I've also had the recent pleasure of dealing with Steve and the team at Project Overlander for my fit out and can vouch for the quality and thoughtful way they have made your dream come true, Steve and the boys are true artist's. ..................Note that this is not a solicited comment. I look forward to seeing the new truck on the track - and maybe a comparo with what looks like maybe a Hino that's travelling with you.....? Cheers
The silhouette of that Headspace Campers RTT is first rate. It just looks like a slightly taller roofline of the OEM troopy roof. Unlike others that looks like there is a RTT fitted on top. And best of all, it's Australian made. The interior fit-out seems to fit your requirements well. Great choices. 👍
Great build Matt , the only thing I noticed was the ancillary receptacle for your water and electrical connections was full of dust , personally I would adapt a seal to the lid to keep the dust out especially with electrics . If dust can get in so can water . 😎👍🍻
Looks amazing, as close to perfect as you can get. Would love a troopy one day ,would be me and 2 kids, in theory you could have 1 seat where your clothes are stored next to the toilet? The only thing I may change is a big dual zone instead of the upright, just so you can access it from inside and lots of freezer storage. I did notice the center console though which can be used as a freezer but it can get power hungry running 2 separate fridges. Quality looks excellent overall.
Yeah they are power hungry but we have the juice for it they have been going well. You could defiantly have a second seat you'd just have to get really craft with everything else
damn impressive. i dont care how much this costs, it looks worth every cent. How good is Australian Made paired with old fashioned quality workmanship!!
I've been watching your content since the hilux days and this is quite an evolution. The vehicle looks amazing. I think you should meet up with Andrew St.Pierre White and publicly debate who's got the best troopy 😂
love the video and love the build. (planning our internal Troopy fitout now) But I feel sad at 3:23... that loaf of Bakers Delight has been squashed. The one thing I can't deal with is my bread getting squashed...
It looks like you've built one heckava capable tourer there. I really like the Headspace roof top conversion. I like how it just looks like a slightly taller Troopy when closed - ie. the roof line is retained. I also like that it's Aussie made. Well done for being ambassadors for Aussie made products. So what's next to "Sarge" (aka Troopy)? 😁 Anything else you plan to add/change?
Ive owned just about every model landcruiser, 40,60,80,100,200,300 70s in factory turbo6 and the V8s. My favorites over the years were fj45 (have miss world in shed), 80 series quad valve auto, 2006 70 with the factory turbo. But my favorite was the troopie with trakka camper conversion. Hated the 300 and frankly wasnt too impressed with the v8s. Just recently bought a hikux to see if i can live with the 2.8/auto and to wait to see if any issues arise from the 70 4cyl. If not then im building another troopie. Really like gour conversion and the roof top etc 👍👍
Wow!! The best troopy build I've seen! Looks solid! Can you give us a guesstimate for everything except the stock troopy 😊 thanks mate! Stay safe, satay cool!!
Hey mate we have the front runner expander chairs. Super small and comfortable great for troopies. We store them in there own storage bag and just sit them in the middle. If we didn’t have the toilet in we could fit them in there. It’s a bit of a compromise not having a space for them this trip but they are the first things you grab out anyway so not too big of a deal.
Great job ! so good to see Oli and hte team from Headspace have done a lovely job of the roof. Your hot water system looks interesting, what is it? Thanks
Not a fan of the gull wing having a light right on an opening, that's a huge invitation for bugs inside. Not a bad build, I've built out a few and came her for ideas but nothing really new. I do like the recessed utility panel.
Yank here from Utah, USA. Love the build, great inspiration for my 96 HZJ75! How long would you say you can sit comfortably doing laptop work on the bench?
I always thought that most fit outs were much the muchness.... but this honestly is amazing. I'd happily go in and ask for the Overland travellers package 😂❤️ I had two questions. Does that toilet smell a little musty been right between your seats? Also how do you think that maxtrax holder would go if the trax had even just a bit of mud on every track? I think it looks like it would be a struggle to fit them all in. Other than that it's the best looking Max table I've seen. I love that the lugs are covered.
Yeah the fit and finish is amazing. Not sure about the toilet we haven't used out yet but will soon, but I think the idea is that they don't smell but we will find out! As for the Maxrtrax table this was the prototype, the versions that are out to market have a slightly different design so there is more room to slide them in :) Its been great so far.
@OverlandTravellers If it's anything like my chemical toilet... it wasn't a horrible odour, but I wouldn't want to sit right next to it either. I tried both using correct amounts of chemicals aswell as overdosing the toilet with chemicals too 😂 I only tried two different brands though. Either way goodluck. I'll keep my eyes peeled as your new videos emerge.
@@OverlandTravellers Thanks, that'll be how you got such a wide aisle too...I was wondering if that makes the bench a bit narrow to sit or lounge on comfortably...
Great build BUT! Just a couple of things I think could be better. Socks and jocks draw is a fail when you have to open back door and get out for a fresh pair of 'Reg Grundies' That tap idea is a bit lame. So often when driving you stop and just need a little bit of water, PITA to have to get the tap out every time. That utilities panel is great for power and air only. You have all done an incredible job. You guys won't know yourselves with all that luxury. Marty from Perth
Yeah we have since swapped the clothes draw for more food. Honestly the tap is one of the most useful and practical things on the build. It’s right next to where we cook, and if you need to get it out for lunch it’s no big deal. We have the key and tap in the OGS storage pouch on the back door. If you’re getting stuff out for lunch you’re opening doors anyway. But if we need a quick drink when driving, we have water bottles we full up every morning before we leave.
@@christurner68 the table is quite lite, the maxtrax aren’t. The team at project overlander put a lot of bracing on the inside of the body to accommodate for this.
hands down the best troopy build I've ever seen. totally agree with you
Outstanding job on your car guys!Given you’ve done it rough and tough for so long… It must feel like you’re in heaven now!
The whole thing is just so nice!

The light strip does have an orange light as well
Yank here from Utah, USA. Love the build, great inspiration for my 96 HZJ75! How long would you say you can sit comfortably doing laptop work on the bench?
Easily for a few hours. Especially with the pull out desk
How are you powering the Starlink and how have you found using it day to day?
Just via the 240v outlet and inverter. It’s a little bit to set up but it’s not too bad. Very handy having the internet anywhere.
Great unit, have really enjoyed the build series. I have probably missed it but can you tell me what the troopy weighs loaded for your trip. Cheers
Loaded around the 3.8 mark so right on GVM. once we use a bit of fuel and rink a bit of water its pretty good
What’s the width of the footwell?
Is the 90 litre water tank underneath replace the factory subtank?
No, it fits in between the two fuel tanks. It actually has a tunnel for the handbrake cable to run through.
I always thought that most fit outs were much the muchness.... but this honestly is amazing. I'd happily go in and ask for the Overland travellers package 😂❤️

What brand are the strip lights
Why have you got both induction and gas cookers?
We have the induction for one pan meals, when we don't want too much set up, if its windy and if we run out of gas. Its just good to have the option.
Fantastic walk though, to be honest it shouldn't look like a home made job. Will be good to see on your 1st completed trip
That's one awesome touring vehicle...so jealous. Can I ask what the modifications cost (ballpark) and how long did it take them to do it.
A lot ;) There is about 100K in labor and parts. It takes a long time, this took around 8 months on and off work
@@OverlandTravellers What about warranty. Does any of this void the Toyota warranty...or you didn't care?
@@donks5306 Warranty can’t be voided, only refused based on its because of an aftermarket item. So yeah Toyota would laugh me out of the dealership.
Thankyou for being honest about answering the question. Most people are guarded. If you can afford it then happy days. Well done@@OverlandTravellers
Can you access the fridge while you are inside with the back doors closed?
Not really we did consider it but went with access at the back which we have really liked so far. It is an option though to change it.
What things do you store in the ogs pouches?
We have our tap and filler in them, garbage bags, sandwich bags, herbs and spices, bottle openers….. just lots of random little things we love them
@@OverlandTravellers thx
Excellent fitout! Does the left hand drawer open with only the left hand door open? (dont have to open the tyre swing and door)
Yes correct I forgot to mention that, the left draw can be fully opened with just the left door open. It’s a very thoughtful build.
@@OverlandTravellers Thanks, that'll be how you got such a wide aisle too...I was wondering if that makes the bench a bit narrow to sit or lounge on comfortably...
@@omniversling the bench is fine width wise :)
Interesting
How much does it weigh fully loaded?
A lot! we would be 3.8 with beer, and 360L of fluids
How much was the build including roof?
$70k
As how much does the whole car cost?
@@OverlandTravellers
No the build excluding vehicle

We managed enough food and provisions for over 4 weeks with no stocking up.
