Just wanted to say, I’ve been a fan of the vlogs about three-four months now, and the only reason I stumbled across you was because of your IFC unboxings! I was so excited about becoming an IFC member for the first time that I wanted to see unboxing videos of previous packages, and there you were! You and Mal have brought me endless hours of joyous entertainment, and on top of all that, my favourite band is your favourite band too! I’d go for Subliminal as my favourite TMBG song, or End of the Tour. I can never decide!
I think "I'm Not a Loser" from the SpongeBob Musical is the only TMBG song I'm overly familiar with, lol. They had a whole bunch of music artists write the songs for that musical, and TMBG was one of them, which is really cool. My mom and I watched it on Paramount+ and it's honestly one of my favorite musicals with how well-done it is. Highly recommend to anyone with Paramount+/Prime Video
"The Mesopotamians" is definitely my favourite of their songs, one of those song that I realise I'm subconsciously tapping my foot to whenever it comes on
I remember hearing you talk about TMBG like 10 years ago and listening to a bunch of their music. Don’t listen much anymore to their new stuff, but they still have some classics! I’m Impressed and Thankful for Your Service are two that I go back to if I’m in the mood for some tmbg.
My favorite story involving a TMBG song is that Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett once went into an interview promoting their book “Good Omens”. The interviewer completely failed to understand that the book written by these two famous fiction authors was, in fact, fictional. So after a very silly interview, they walked down a street in New York together singing “Shoehorn with Teeth” because they thought it captured the absurdity of the situation.
TMBG lyrics ended up in a few places in Pratchett's work, including the nonsense phrase 'Millennium hand and shrimp!' which is the result of an early chatbot programme mixing "Particle Man" with a Chinese restaurant menu.
Thanks for this story! I didn’t know about the origin of Foul Old Ron’s favorite catchphrase. I appreciate that Pratchett, in addition to literally everything else, is a much better TMBG fan than me.
I have to choose two TMBG songs: "Fingertips", the song with a bunch of little songs in it in all kinds of different styles, and "Man, It's So Loud In Here", which is wonderfully EDM and could have been a pop hit single if promoted that way.
I've always loved "Snowball in Hell." I feel like it's a great encapsulation of their sound, and the break in the song where two business men have a conversation has always entranced me for some reason 😆
My favorite They Might Be Giants song has to be Spider. It goes through my head whenever I see a spider. It’s certainly a very fun song to share with other people to see their reactions.
I haven't heard a lot of They Might Be Giants songs, but the two that got stuck in my brain were the two my teacher played a lot in 6th grade world history, and in 8th grade U.S. History: The Mesopotamians James K. Polk
Tiny giants sing, Birdhouse in the sky's blue hues- Istanbul awaits. I am writing a haiku on every Stephen Georg video until he and/or Mal play LoZ: Echoes of Wisdom at the end of the month or whenever they play it. But I'm suspecting it'll be pretty soon after release :)
I don't think I could choose a favorite... Possibly Dr. Worm, since it was the very first TMBG song I ever heard. Older is another favorite and I always send it to my sister and my friends on their birthdays 🤣 Four of Two and Particle Man get stuck in my head super often also.
The only TMBG songs I'm familiar with are the ones that were featured on Tiny Toon Adventures (Particle Man and Istanbul) so I guess those are my favorites.
I'm not really familiar with much of TMBG music, but one of my friends in middle or high school burned me a mixed CD with Istanbul on it, so that has a special, nostalgic place in my heart.
I'm a fan of Birdhouse in Your Soul. Not sure what that says about me. Could Mal do a MalMakes of how to turn pins into magnets if she ever needs to do a shorter MalMakes? As I feel it doesn't take long.
The very first they might be giants song i ever heard of was off of blues clues when they did the letter segment it was they might be giants and they were performing the song clap your hands it’s short and sweet wholesome and funny and that’s what got me into their music buddies have a great day and weekend everyone and remember to always stay positive safe strong and healthy and be the heroes of your own stories everyone😊😇🧡💛
I went through my email archives to see when I started doing this. I've been doing it every year it's been available since 2016. It's worth noting that this is the first IFC They have done since 2020, though obviously, those packages were significantly delayed, which is why you may have opened the last box in 2022. My favorite TMBG song is probably Everything You Know Is Wrong by Weird Al Yankovic. IYKYK.
Vlog raid! Also, favorite song...? well... The Cartoon Network bumper for Courage the Cowardly Dog. 😅 I just like the tone shifts in it and it's nostalgic.
Can't say I've never been a fan of TMBG, they don't class as the type of music I enjoy/listen to. I'm a metalhead into heavy metal/thrash and TMBG doesn't class as that. They're more alternative rock and I'm not big into alternative rock.
Never heard of They might be Giants. Typed it in youtube, and played the first music video that came up, and wow. Not my type of music. Kinda hate it, sorry Stephen. My favorite artist is Owl City. They’re the ones that made Fireflies. And like All Stars, The most well known is my least favorite from them. I love Silhouette, To the Sky, and Wolf Bite.

Read the title as “Instant Fan Club of 2024” and was like “well 2024 has been going on for a while, not sure how instant that would be”
It's now my headcanon that David Lynch watches the vlog regularly
"The Mesopotamians" is definitely my favourite of their songs, one of those song that I realise I'm subconsciously tapping my foot to whenever it comes on

Realizing now that I've been conflating The Mountain Goats and They Might Be Giants in my head
I have to choose two TMBG songs: "Fingertips", the song with a bunch of little songs in it in all kinds of different styles, and "Man, It's So Loud In Here", which is wonderfully EDM and could have been a pop hit single if promoted that way.

Fun fact: there's a cover band called we're definitely dwarfs that play tmbg songs
Tiny giants sing,
Birdhouse in the sky's blue hues-
Istanbul awaits.

“When Will You Die?” has gotta be my favorite TMBG song, i think it perfectly exemplifies their style
The only They Might Be Giants song I know is Istanbul (Not Constantinople.)
Not gonna lie, when Mal started speaking, that scared me lol
my favorite tmbg song is probably either turn around or birdhouse in your soul. havent listened to much, if any, of their newer music
A tie between The Mesopotamians and the PBS Kids Share A Story song.
...No? That doesn't count? Okay, then I'll just say The Mesopotamians.
I don't think I could choose a favorite... Possibly Dr. Worm, since it was the very first TMBG song I ever heard. Older is another favorite and I always send it to my sister and my friends on their birthdays 🤣 Four of Two and Particle Man get stuck in my head super often also.
“When Will You Die” is just such a great tune to hum to myself after any minor inconvenience
Ana Ng is my favorite They Might Be Giants song.
The only TMBG songs I'm familiar with are the ones that were featured on Tiny Toon Adventures (Particle Man and Istanbul) so I guess those are my favorites.

Birthday vlog! Last Wave is one of my favorite songs, and Istanbul, Not Constantinople of course
Darlings of Lumberland or I Palindrome I are my two faves.
I'm basic so the main TMBG song I am familiar with is Istanbul (Not Constantinople).
But Hot Dog though
Ngl, my only direct experience with TMBG is via Homestar Runner, so if I guess I have a "favorite" TMBG song it's Experimental Film by default XD
My favorite is Can't keep Johnny down

While I do have a few that I like...I think I'll go with the the song that got me into the band, Particle Man.
The Edison Museum is one of the greatest songs EVER!
I've only heard a handful of TMBG songs but if I had to pick favorites I think it'd be Whispering in the Dark and Boss of Me.
“Oh my god… it’s Sora.” 12/10, no notes.
Vlog raid!
Also, favorite song...? well...
The Cartoon Network bumper for Courage the Cowardly Dog. 😅 I just like the tone shifts in it and it's nostalgic.
I remember the first song i heard by them was Mesopotamia, it's still my favorite to this day😂😂😂
I don't have a favorite song of theirs, but I'm commenting for the Al Gore Rhythm
Roy G. Biv is my favorite tmbg song
Wait... was "experiment in human happiness" a TMBG reference all along??
I’m unfamiliar with the references but I love all the artwork with the keys! Sunday puzzle stream returns when? Lol jk
Admittedly not a big fan of TMBG but I do like the Malcolm In The Middle theme which is the first song of theirs that I listened to
Does the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme count? 😂 Because I don’t really know many of their songs.
Vlog raid! 🎉🎉
I love the impression that I het
Vlog raid!
I only know one. I think it's about the Byzantine empire or something.
Vlog raid
