With the craziness now going on, what truly ASTONISHES me is the sheer amount of people wandering about in a TOTAL daze, headphones/earphones on while staring down at their phone. Me? Whenever I'm in a crowd I ALWAYS have my head on a swivel, being aware of who's around me, who maybe a potential threat etc etc.
As one who has to get around with a blind person I am constantly monitoring who is moving where and how to avoid bumping into them etc. You are right about the number of people who have no idea what is going on as they are walking along monitoring their phone etc, completely clueless.
I even see people cross the road with their eyes glued to their phone, cyclists with earphones on, totally switched off from what is going on around them.
And right there lies the problem!! So addicted to phones/social media......they actually have no clue as to what's going on in the real world. What an awful awakening is coming to them.

This is why so many of my fellow Americans get defensive about gun restrictions. It's unfathomable to me, and sad, that the native people of the UK don't have a right to defend themselves.
Adding the option of allowing all Brits to carry guns won`t make the situation any better. It will just put more lethal weapons in the hands of the criminals. I know the US is way beyond any proper gun control but I know I speak for the vast majority of Brits when I say we don`t want any sort of gun ownership made legal here.

Totally. I remember reading an article years ago, GQ or something. Interviewing the then Worlds Karate champion etc. When asked about defence against a knife attack he said words to the effect of "I'm very highly trained in multiple martial arts, and have been operating at the top level for years. I have developed very powerful legs over this time, and if anyone came at me with a knife, I would run like the wind!"
You're not racially abusing people enough or looting or destroying innocent residents' property, causing 1000s of pounds in damage. Attacking the police enough is that what you saying
Sadly, I’m 61 and since all of these horrible stabbings, lack of proper policing on the streets, etc, I’m constantly aware of who is in my vicinity. We all have an animal instinct for danger, we’ve got to use it, to save ourselves. Keep safe everyone 👍🏻
Cannot understand why they let people just waltz into our country, then let them out on the streets. We can’t do that so why should they. Why does governments let this carry on,we live on a island for god sake.
I got bashed up by "imports" here in Australia 30 years ago while I was walking home alone on a weekend from the railway station. Five against one. And they can put me in gaol for saying it but the fact is they were indeed "imports" who did not give a twopence about our culture. Apart from my injuries stopping my career in my 30s (I have modestly self funded my existence ever since - not taking a single dollar from taxpayers) and making life extremely challenging on a day to day basis, I am far more aware of potential situations that might put me in a compromised situation. It surprises me (though perhaps it shouldn't) how many people are blissfully unaware of potentially dangerous situations so I often feel quite detached from society given that I can see potential danger that others simply cannot (or simply do not even think about).
Unfortunately, you're absolutely right Andy. I served in a specialist unit and rule No.1 was always: "if you're out-gunned or seriously outnumbered - get out! Fast!" It's a sad fact that most "heros" are easy to find because they're dead. For the average citizen, flight has to be the first option. All the Martial Arts in the world are no match against a nutter with a gun; or a crowd of screaming nutyers with knives! The public haven't been allowed to own a handgun since 1996. I wonder why such a law was passed. Certainly not because of Dunblane - the excuse that was given at the time....
Spot on. That IS the only defence. Because if you do anything else, then YOU will be the criminal. It is absolutely clear that we are NOT allowed to defend ourselves in any way, shape or form.
You have a right to defend yourself but it's not likely to end well unless you're suitably armed. Therefore running and screaming to alert others is probably the best option as it buys time. If you can get ahead by enough distance it buys you time to get into a building or vehicle where someone can lock it down. Ideally not a bus as they have an emergency door opening on the outside.
I got bashed by imports. Left me with life long injuries. I know more than most what happens when you import people who neither share or respect the existing culture. All they care about is wreaking havoc.

We were conned into giving up the right to forceful defence - eg, by carrying arms - in return for total protection by the police. Now that the police have become a force for social change and an enforcement arm for the Government we are left helpless and therefore you are correct. Run, hide, pick up a chair, these are the only ways out. I personally am too old to run! I do believe that there is an argument for allowing citizens to carry the means of self defence, such as pepper-sprays, the problem then being that the assailants will use them as well. It is a terrible problem and will only be resolved by having real policemen as opposed to five-foot-three girls, by having a lot more of them and by getting tough on prosecution and conviction. No bail for violent offences, no remission on sentences for violent crimes, no parole for violent crimes. Do the crime, do the time. I point out that the people involved in the fracas at Manchester Airport, who broke a policewoman's nose and injured two other officers, have yet to be charged at all and are out on bail enjoying their mint tea and having a good laugh about it.
I had this conversation with my daughter just last week. How sad is that ! I have a three month old grandson. Running with a pram is difficult, what if something was thrown, is there water, if we were cornered do we have keys easily accessible or anything we could use as a weapon Etc.etc. My dear father taught me to fight and fight dirty, I'm 68 now and just 5' tall but if I couldn't run I would fight with every thing I had to protect that little boy.
In the same vein - headphones and earbuds, when out and about , in streets , cafes, trains etc. One of the fastest indicators of nearby trouble is noise - screech of brakes, shouts, screaming etc etc. I never wear headphones or earbuds outside the home. I want to be able to hear trouble coming !
How can you run if you have your family with you? Surely you will have to make sure they are OK. It’s a terrible state of affairs the last and this government have put us in!
Great advice. Many years ago I met a body guard of one of the most famous singer/ musicians in the world, he was a friend of my older brother. A few of us were having a beer when he wasn’t working. We asked him for some tips. He gave only two, run for your like as soon as you sense trouble. He added that if you are cornered and things look bad, fight for your life punch kick bite, hit soft parts, anything. But he underlined that the run strategy should always be used proactively. If you are going to a place and you sense trouble just leave

It was Bruce Lee who said that you should cross the road if you see trouble ahead on your side of the road. And Bob Bream who said, if you try to defend yourself against a knife, expect a cut. The best tactic is always to avoid any fight with a knife. And even as a black belt, we were told if the worst came to the worst, take your jacket off, wrap it around your arm and expect to be cut while trying to neutralise the knife. We have been so desensitized to violence, we feel we can defend ourselves like the anti hero who gets in a fight. Nothing could be further from the truth. When you get a crazed maniac wielding a knife at you, the knife comes from all angles, and is devastating. You are so right, we have to get out of the area as quick as possible. And we must always remember, this is not part of our culture. It is something we have been conditioned into. Thanks for sharing.
Actually high heels can be a very good weapon, especially if grabbed from behind. A stiletto stamped hard into a foot does a lot of damage as can the heel if wielded to the face. The best thing to do is remain calm and focused. Most men will outrun a woman very easily.
I was trained in self defense and specifically knife fighting and multi opponent techniques for years. Your advice is 100%. A trained knife fighter might survive an encounter but will almost certainly be badly wounded. It's not worth the risk.
It is alarming how these criminals operate. Gangs of people setting upon one individual or deliberately targeting the more vulnerable. You have Hamas hiding amongst civilians. The barbarism and cowardice is off the scale.

It has got to the point were I make sure I lock the doors when I walk the dog or leave the house and my wife stays at home alone. We are thinking of getting 2 Alsatians as the Basset Hound we have is not much of a deterrent 😂 Taking extra precautions with locks and security around the home. Before going into actual defence moves, like using a hair or deoderent spray in the eyes of an attacker, I would pass on a piece of Confusus advice. " Confusus say, woman can run faster with skirt up than man with trousers down!" Living and working in a tourist town at trhe time, unfortuanately my advice had to followed at times, now, having been out of the game for years, the only advice I would offer is to run as fast as possible while shouting for help, if you can spare the air! Thank yu for passing on the best of advice Andy.
What saddens me is. During the recent trouble in Sheffield. The ( other team, shall we say) Set about an English patriot carrying a Union Jack. I recall a _near incident_ a good 45 years go. I'd been to see my older brother who was living in Stamford Hill. We'd been in the pub Saturday night playing pool and darts and on the Sunday evening, I was waiting at the bus stop to get to the tube to get to Victoria Station to head back to Sussex where I used to live. I was alone and it was quiet when a group of some 5 or 6 non-white youths, older than me came up and started to get, let's just say _a tad menacing_ with me. I thought, _"Oh! Crap! This won't end well for me."_ It was then when one at the back suddenly piped up, _"Hey! You're XXX's brother. You were in the pub playing pool with us. Leave him be guys. He's cool."_ And with that, they left. But I've never been so eager to see the bus I needed a couple minutes later. All I can say is. It was a bloody good job one of them recognised me.
Several years ago I was attacked with a knife by a druggie and ended up having surgery for the wound. When I came out of theatre and on to the ward I was cautioned and told upon release from hospital I would be arrested and questioned. Short version is £45k of public money was spent taking me to court only to be ultimately thrown out. And my crime was using excessive force to defend myself..... The Police actually said if my life wasn't directly threatened in ending then I shouldn't have hit him. I hit him twice , one to the floor the second to keep him there out cold. So when Andy says run, run ! The injuries and eight months trial, Police / legal system aren't worth the hassle of defending yourself.
Civilized society cannot live long term in day-to-day terror. The entire population from babies to the pensioners will end up with CPTSD. It is emotionally unsustainable to be afraid and hypervigilant every time you walk out your door just to go to the shops.

Since I fell off s ladder over a year ago I'm hardly able to walk, never mind run, and as the newcomers are getting priority for medical treatment waiting lists are sky high, so god knows when my injuries will be treated. I'm 86, dont have a GP and live alone.
I would have to fight as I can no longer run. That means I would have to put everything into it as I've realised I could not last over 5 mins of strenuous effort. Lungs are the problem but an attacker doesn't know that and although nearly 80 my physical makeup looks OK. I'm ready.
Any self defence expert will tell you to always avoid conflict. It should be your last resort to engage with attacker. They will also tell to shout something like “ I have no idea who you are so go away and stop being aggressive “. This is because it will support your case if you get arrested and end up on trial.

Common sense is a remarkable thing, and you just spoke some real gold nuggets. Sometimes, no matter how something offends you, it's better to use your head and get yourself and family out of harms way. The self defence systems should only come into play when there is absolutely no other possible way out, the risk is too high. Learn some basic self defence, doing so is no bad thing, but....Situational awareness is your best defence, if things don't look right, get yourself and loved ones away before something has a chance to happen. Even if you read the situation wrong, it's better to be safe than take a risk. Remember if you get killed how it will affect those you love and are dependant on you.
I'm from Glasgow and had a knife pulled out on me a few times, best advice would be to keep vigilant be aware of your surroundings and to not be a hero, keep your distance.
we have to by natural law be able to protect our selfes our familys and tribal members from being invaded or attacked by unwanted illegal immigrants and others that threaten us and our way of life , this is our natural rights ffs.
I'm trained in martial Arts ( we don't need to elaborate) Andy's advice is the best advice . Run . If you are an expert and ONLY if you're cornered with no other options should you defend yourself . Even then you are likely to get cut. The best defence is use your legs , not to kick , but , to get as far away as possible.
If you have a Labour MP.. go & see them. Of course if you say too much they'll probably put you on an arrest list, but these b******* need to hear how utterly disgusted we are with them & their leader, 2TK.
I agree that running away from a threat is a sensible and instinctive thing to do, but sometimes the "threat" can run faster, especially if the threat is determined to make you a victim. I live in a place (USA) which still allows citizens to CCW. I and millions of others have relied upon that to defend ourselves and loved ones. As European civilization devolves, one hopes that citizens there will demand the right to be permitted to use necessary force to defend themselves. If the governments ignore those pleas, the citizens will nonetheless do what they must anyway. The "Wild West" isn't just America anymore...it's everywhere.
The awareness aspect is apt. We are used to being safe. Even in your home, make sure you have things handy. Many of us who are either old or disabled don't stand a chance.
I dunno though. Sometimes you can’t run or hide. There are legal implements one can carry though that could help a person to defend himself/herself in such a situation.

I grew up in Florida in the 80s, and it was a generally well understood amongst all my peers that the kind of intimidation you might see so often in Britain from our young bullying yobos wasn't ever gonna fly there...because of the 2nd ammendment. Yep, the great equalizer of self-defense might seem rash and indeed the last resort, but with capital punishment and civil security backed by helicopters and swarms of 'ready to shoot' police it wasn't at all appealing to misbehave to such extremes. There's this idea that things are better here because of the differences, yet I think that applies moreso today to the organised gangs who are just so overpowered in relation to the majority or law abiding citizens. I am not saying that there should be a referendum on the matter as it's too late, yet I do want the public to think more about what handing their personal safety over to a nanny state has resulted in. It may be the reason that this country has been walked over, why we became so passively irresponsible for ourselves over the more recent decades in our history. It wasn't too long ago when public hangings in London were common place, I remember one story of a 12 year old being sentanced to die for stealing a spoon....And I think that story I heard more recently prove how calloused it is, the story of extortionate beer prices so the impoverished started going into hospitals to steal soap to drink because it had alcohol, only for the govenment(?) to step in and try to stop this by mandating the nozzle on these 'soaps' be changed to only distribute foam...YOU CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO HAVE A BEER, YOU'LL COST THE NHS TOO MUCH IF YOU SMOKE CIGARETTES (EVEN IF YOUR DOCTOR WON'T SEE YOU!). Zero compassion, zero tolerance and zero quality of life remain. A universal policy on all because of the few misbehaving, it's like punishing the school kids for the actions of one. I cannot relate to these English methods, my countrymen's demands for regulations to punish anyone for being human and wanting a beer and a smoke....It's so far away from the conversation, just sitting around with friends watching a movie not even wanting to discuss the Primeminister...It feels all encapsulating now. Me, I'm on no one's side in what is going on, I want humans to survive and be happy....Nationality is a banking ideology, being a conscious entity alive and aware supercedes that by so much. I feel we're being dragged into fighting anything but those who control us and there's blame for this in unsuspected places, mostly within our mindset... Again, I can only relate to the Swiss...tranquillity and good humour with a clean and safe well run society will NEVER be something I shun as 'normal' or 'mandatory', although there are those who live there that take it for granted. Just all of you, try to take care of eachother, feed the sparrows if possible.....maybe escape if you can..it's not the worst idea!
It's so ironic that the people who are privileged enough to have their own personal security detail are the ones pushing to make sure everyone else does not have the means to protect themselves. Maybe it's time that changed.
Since our law abiding citizens can be trusted with firearms. I feel the British Citizens who have never broken any crimes shouldn’t have to deal with tough gun restrictions. If we were allowed the right bare arms as a way to defend ourselves paired with a concealed carry permit. We would see less vulnerable people being at threat of harm. The whole making owning firearms tougher and not being allowed to use them for self-defense has given criminals an advantage. One we can’t break unless we have an equaliser with firearms being the most efficient. Shame most of the public were fooled into believing firearms can only cause harm and giving them up will stop gun crimes from occurring. When in fact a good guy with a gun is the best way to stop bad guys with gun. Or for pensioners who can’t run from gangs would allow them to defend themselves against knives. Finally it’s silly the gullible who put too much faith in the establishment believe guns are sentient. Sure a poorly maintained firearm has a chance to go off randomly if handled wrong. But since most gun owners in America who follow the law do regular maintenance on their tool of choice for prevent harm being done to them, their families, communities and friends. The tool of choice is pretty safe and shows a sign of strength that can deter criminals. Anyway might we someday see a push for getting the government to change their stance on gun restrictions. If Labour and Tories keep their uni party grip intact for decades to come as many foolish people keep voting for the same corrupt parties instead of voting for Reform UK. The criminals won’t see their power of society being diminished. However if Reform UK gets into No 10, things could change. And if we saw gun restrictions being eased so law abiding citizens have a way to defend ourselves which we would need if Britain either fell to an Islamic Government who brought in Sharia Law, invading army or a Totalitarian government who got another chance of putting us under their jack boot after our current Totalitarian Government lost power. Our fellow law abiding citizens would finally be safe and not fear about going out at certain times or too certain areas in Britain where criminals have an easy time to keep breaking the law. Finally would we need to have school lessons where kids were taught about gun safety by their parents and at gun ranges during school trips. Yes since gun safety taught sensibly and with passion can help to build a better future where other law abiding citizens can watch out for their fellow brethren, sisters, fathers, mothers and elders. Anyway if we ever get a chance to get parliament to revisit gun restrictions. Do your best to make them see sensible by voting for yes to being able to use firearms as a form of self-defence. No one should feel vulnerable along with being able to defend them home, family, grand children and community. However if you still think gun restrictions should be made tighter. In my opinion you have no faith in humanity. Law abiding citizens can be trusted to use firearms professionally and with common sense. Plus going to a firearm can be a good way to blow off steam after a bad day at work, keeping the mind fit & strong by focusing on targets at a gun range. Or if you view cleaning and maintaining as a soothing activity, maintaining and modifying/personalising your firearm is a good way to get your fix of cleaning and maintaining something you own.

Andy, you are not allowed to defend yourself now. Any small scratch on your attacker and you’ll end up in jail.
But you'll be alive.
Not for long in UK prisons!
Absolutely ! , Some smackhead (unknown by me) tried to stab me when I answered my door , I got punched and when I fought back I ended up in Crown court facing 15 years for ABH . I was the victim ! , yet the druggie crim with a record bigger than a 1980's phone book gets treated like the virgin mary .
6 Months of hell expecting to go to jail... It got chucked out of court as the crim kept changing their mind about what happened so the CPS didn't have a case .

Same here . I live in central London . I always do my own "profiling " when I'm out and about . For my own safety or even life possibly .
And right there lies the problem!! So addicted to phones/social media......they actually have no clue as to what's going on in the real world. What an awful awakening is coming to them.
A very good point!
Run! Hide! Fight! In that order! And when you fight remember there are no rules!

Been saying this same thing for years. Surely when a ship is sinking, the women and children go first. Why then are they all 18-30 and men 🤔
Never thought that this would happen in this country. We’ve been failed by those 650 so called politicians in parliament for too long now.
At eighty seven I am becoming very aware of how vulnerable I am. It's about time the UK legalised pepper spray.
There is a defence spray available that is legal in the UK.

No, guns.
A Jif lemon squeezed hard has pretty good range and is not fun if it gets in your eyes, oh and it’s legal 😜🇬🇧
This is why so many of my fellow Americans get defensive about gun restrictions. It's unfathomable to me, and sad, that the native people of the UK don't have a right to defend themselves.
They're illegal in the UK. Full stop. You can get a very hefty prison sentence for possession of one let alone using it.
@@markcf83 the psychological sense of insecurity that must bring is hard to imagine from my perspective in the USA. Godspeed to all native Brits!
Adding the option of allowing all Brits to carry guns won`t make the situation any better. It will just put more lethal weapons in the hands of the criminals.

It is the declawing and de-toothing of only one side that is causing this

Stay safe my friend and keep that weather eye on all imports.
Isn't that the year the government's signed up for Agenda 21?
Think we're now realising why!
The police messed up badly back then, punished everyone and put a 100 year lock on it.
My thoughts exactly although I didn't realise it as I handed my Glock 21, Colt 257,Browning 9mm Etc. Etc. over to the police back in the day.
If only we had bodyguards like the politicians.
I don’t want to live in a country where I have to consider defending myself or my home. That’s what I pay taxes for.
You are not in the UK then as the last time I checked I found the police here are no longer responsible for our lives or property.
Spot on.
That IS the only defence.
Because if you do anything else, then YOU will be the criminal.
It is absolutely clear that we are NOT allowed to defend ourselves in any way, shape or form.
We have a basic right to defend ourselves.
I am always viligant now on the way to work these days, never used to be!

Become an archer 🏹🏹 is my best advice. God given right - self defence.
I had this conversation with my daughter just last week. How sad is that !

I would recommend everyone carry a large can of wasp spray. It goes about 12 ft and is very effective on wasps and eyes.
And for women - don't wear any footwear (e.g. high heels) that will prevent you from running!
Though the thought of a stiletto or two piercing an attacker's balls is quite enticing.
Actually high heels can be a very good weapon, especially if grabbed from behind. A stiletto stamped hard into a foot does a lot of damage as can the heel if wielded to the face. The best thing to do is remain calm and focused. Most men will outrun a woman very easily.
Wear trainers and keep a stiletto in your handbag then
@@PythonariaI'm very dangerous with my heels on so I totally agree.
Its horrible seeing what is happening in England. Its world wide and is only going to get worse.

We are thinking of getting 2 Alsatians as the Basset Hound we have is not much of a deterrent 😂 Taking extra precautions with locks and security around the home. We have to be prepared for self defence, we only have ourselves and each other to rely on now, no police and no government!

I am a retired Security Consultant, who used to give SD advice to Womens groups.

He's cool."_
And with that, they left.

First we need to get our authorities to admit what the problem is. Until they do that, don't expect anything to change, other than the problem to continually worsen.

I'm ready.
I always use a stout walking stick when I'm out these days...my legs are fine.👍
Walking stick vs machete?
And SCREAM to draw attention to what is happening and hopefully, with a bit of luck, someone bigger and stronger will come to your aid and help ...
Any self defence expert will tell you to always avoid conflict. It should be your last resort to engage with attacker. They will also tell to shout something like “ I have no idea who you are so go away and stop being aggressive “. This is because it will support your case if you get arrested and end up on trial.

I like your spelling mistake. But it's true. I think the elderly should be valued. Pity Starmer thinks otherwise.

Andy sometimes the way of a warrior might be needed!! Love n respect ❤

I always run as soon as I'm out of bullets
Sad to hear Brits are running away & and hiding, but as disarmed citizens, suppose it's the best advice.
